Loving the Star Lance!
It looks rich and splendid. There are depths to both this and the dragonhide that contrast very well.Turion Rilyaloce wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 7:43 amIn the meantime I’ve finally brought the throne into the NMM fold

I’m loving that the Carmine dragon is so vertical. It means these effects can all fit in without overriding each other. There’s a different level to view each one on.

They're turning out great! Loving the progress on both dragons and the rider. The Star Lance is turning out nice as well (and who knows, it might make an appearance in our army book if we ever get that...).
As for the burning man, enjoy the process It's not every day you get to set someone on fire without any consequences

Punched some more color into Menëlathnirs hide with an airbrush glaze.
The Gold is starting to take shape. NMM is such a downhill technique. You start with the hardest blends over large surface area, and as you work your way up and down the colours, it requires less and less work but looks better and better.

Gold is mostly done, but you’ll notice the huge difference in contrast between Valaryon and the Menëlathnirs Armour right now.
Once I do the Silver, I will seal the model and panel line. That will give me my blacks. Then I’ll add the pure white highlights and hot spots to both and you should see it pop.

Really excellent painting, thank you for sharing these pictures. Did you add the white linen straps to the dragon's armour in the end? I just noticed them on the last image.

Yah I usually do white last because I have a habit of touching models too much while I’m painting, and I find white gets rubbed off or tainted by any residue that might be on my hands.Anduil of Elithis wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 10:42 am Really excellent painting, thank you for sharing these pictures. Laid down the base colours for the Arch Mage Anduriel.
I decided to go with a purple ink, so if I’m playing him as blood of Caledor it can be dragon Armour, but if not it can look like a uniform.
If I went metal it’s pretty much locked into Armour.

Though I generally don't play that the models need to match their equipment exactly. But it's always nice if they do, even if only because it helps me remember what equipment I actually gave them...

Archmage Anduriel is complete. Almost got crazy and did some heterochromia with the OSL on the eyes one colour for sword and other for wand but decided it would be just too much lol.
I’m pretty happy with the way my interpretation of the Silver Wand turned out.
Snuck some freehand in too.

Off to a start on the foot mage.
I love painting with acrylic inks, the flow and saturation are so satisfying, and they leave your light sketch to show through.

Between one of three varnish steps. My models actually all wear amrour in a way. One coat of Gloss a varnish then panel liner, one coat of matte varnish to give texture for painting

Foot mage is complete. Went a little extra with the lightning on the staff, as there was only a single tiny gem to ground the OSL on.
What a really fun model to paint. Great sculpt!
