So now that we are losing the re-rolls on great weapons. Will the standard BSB on foot kit be Armour of Caledor + a Halberd? as oppsed to AoC, GP(or DS) and a GW?
Do you think you will start using halberds more on your Princes? Or are you going to move closer towards specialised Prince builds?

Re: Return of the Halberd
If you're rocking the 2+ armor via the BRB or AoC, then I can see the Halberd as an excellent buy.
If you're on a horse, I think a Lance is still better.

Re: Return of the Halberd
I strongly doubt we'll see many halberds. I could be wrong though, but the advantage S6 carries over S5 is simply huge.

Re: Return of the Halberd
Str 6 without re-rolls vs Str 5 against T3 models with 1+ AS = Even.
In almost every other way, Str 6 is better in ever situation, until you get to 5+ AS.
So unless it's just RnF fodder, the Str 6 wins, even without re-roll.
*edit*
Leaping Sword and Giant's Blade are both very nice options for our combat lord at this point. Combat lords can have AS from their generic items, bring an Asuyran hero for a ward save, and a High Mage in the second rank for ward buffage, make a near unstoppable unit without blinking twice.
So great weapon when you're going for a cheap combat lord, but a combat lord unit will be Terrifying!

Re: Return of the Halberd
Though some of Baeron's details are wrong, he has the right idea.
They are even against T3 models with a 2+, and the halberd is better as the armor gets worse. The halberd is also better against T4 and a 5+ save, which is pretty much just dwarf warriors. On the whole, the great weapon appears to be better, but there are some situations where you would want a halberd. I could see the halberd possibly being better against other characters, especially with ASF.

Re: Return of the Halberd
Forget Halberd, the Sea Helm has a Trident, this is a thing, I already have my DPs with Tridents, why not characters too.

The trident looks good but I don't know how good the rules will be.Elessehta of Yvresse wrote:Forget Halberd, the Sea Helm has a Trident, this is a thing, I already have my DPs with Tridents, why not characters too.
