High Elves from far far away

Hi,
I don't know if I've already introduced myself:
Hello, I'm 29 an live with my wife and 3 (soon 4) daughters in a small country called Luxemburg (on the map it's a little dot between Belgium, France and Germany).

I've been a passionate player for over 14 years now, started with 40k but ever wanted to have a High Elf army.

I used to have one but sold it to get the funds to restart it with other units.

My army is (was) intended to be a sort of pirate force, that mainly launches raids on Norse and Dark Elves Lands to weaken their foes.

I'm not an excellent painter and more a player but I'm trying too keep at least a tabletop standard. Or as I call it to paint my miniatures to give them the Cheerleader effect (= one model alone is not looking very well, but together they look quite nice )

So, here we go:

Below a WIP of my Phoenix Guard (or Guard of the Myst as I call them).
What you can't see is that I used two different colours of metal, hope the wash (which I still have to buy) will show you the difference)

Small update. Just have to finish the bases and the Phoenix Guard will finally be done. I'm quite happy with the results, some minors mistakes but I think they will look nice on the table. Sorry for the bad pic, took it in a rush with my mobile...

Phoenix Guard as well as 10 archers done. Sorry for the crap pics again, took them with my mobile.
QUite happy with how they turned out.

Next up: Ballista, 15 Sword Masters, 10 Sisters of Averlorn, 1 BSB, 1 Archmage and 1 Loremaster.

I don't like the High Elves one too much and still had two Dark Elves one so the choice was made

I try to take a middleway between painting fast and a nice looking army.
Next up will be the rest of my army (maybe in 2 or 3 weeks, a friend of mine is helping me painting them).

After that I think tah I'll have to put some additional minis into the army, maybe building up a 3k army or even more.

Any thoughts about a durable Stardragon build? Wanted to use the Carmine Dragon (found a lot of inspiration on the forum).
Hm, and later on a noble on Great Eagle as well as a Griffon. And another Ballista, and... .

This is a Darksword miniature (Thief of Hearts 5), the wings haven't been glued on the miniature and the gaps filled with some green stuff. Btw, don't ask me where she has her Book of Hoeth

Here's my recipe for the phoenix Guard:

Head have been bought from anvil industries. Some of them are Glade Guard heads too, but only some spare I had at home. The prices on ebay for those are......let's say "expensive"

I primed them with Olympic Gold colour (I think Halford is one of the manufacturers in the UK).
Chainmail and weapons have then been painted with Chainmail (I don't remember the new name of the colour)
Everything wich is white was painted with Skull White. Blue/Turquoise parts were painted with Sotek Green. The flesh with Elf flesh.
Armypainter Dark Tone ink on the metal parts (Strong Tone, aka Devlan Mud, can also be used but I wanted to give them a "cold" look)
Reikland Fleshshade on the Olympic Gold parts
Face has been washed with Ogryn Flesh.
Shoes and weapon handles were painted with Scorched brown.
Varnish and done.

I really like that seahelm's helmet. It's come out great! What did you use for the colours?

To be honest I haven't painted the Sea Helmet myself.
It was a friend of mine, living in France who painted it for me. He's also doing some commission work (for units 15 troopers for 15 € i.e.), nontheless he painted the Sea Helmet, Sisters, Mage and Swordmasters for free
