Have you considered getting / building a lightbox to take the pictures. Given our lovely light here in the Netherlands, I think it might make a big difference, especially in autumn / winter.

Obviously I'm impressed by almost everything you paint Mireadur. Do you feel though that things tend to come out even better when a model features a lot of detail?

Umm id say so i guess. Mmmm.. What i really think is that GW has developed a style in their models that make them stand out easily when painted. Maybe other models are more realistic but come out as much harder to paint unless you resort to airbrushing.

Never thought about that, im not really interested in showing awesome model pictures anyway. I guess what i really like is to put them on the table, im content with the ghetto pictures i upload here to be truth  . They also help me to keep track of the things i do so i can repeat them later and also spot faults i probably wouldnt notice otherwise. I admit, though, that i love watching the pictures of the coolest models ive managed to paint. Also spend a lot of time just staring at my models in the showcases whenever im home.

EDIT: 1 more.

EDIT: sorry there was some problems with the uploading of onedrive. On this one i got a very deep contrast, i like it.

They are for me now :)

He looks great, even if he's only by himself ;) I agree with the deep contrast, it looks great. It gives him a bit an edgy look.

yes, i havent painted much in the last 3 years unfortunately. Probably its got a lot to do with the busy life of a family and, admitedly, also because of a little bit too much videogaming in the times im away from home working.

This year has been terrible for me for painting, new job and moved to a new place and everything is very chaotic. Still you're doing a grand job if you can still churn things out!

weeeee i did it. Last rank and file done. This week ill finish up the character.

Admitedly ive got some errors in the direction of the lightining source for the metals in some models (in this six the mistakes are on the back of the helmets with the source on the opposite side of where it should be, 1st and 3rd model in page 39 of the blog). Side effect of having painted them through such a long time span and also not having all models with me often (eventhough i can always watch the pictures of them in the computer but it is not the same as putting the models 1 by 1 in the unit tray). Anyway, these mistakes will have to be forgiven given the circunstances.

Hopefully ill reach the level of inspiration needed to complete the character. I want to paint a dragon emerging from the waters in the back of his cloak and also the metallic reflections on the trident blades which are tasks quite difficult. I'd be awesome the end result to be the cherry on the cake for the long journey that has been this unit.

This is an awesome job as usual ! I really like your style. There's high contrast but it's still in the realistic range. Really love it !

But when I hear you talking about your errors, I feel like all my painted models are just a big pile of error ... :(
But hey, I guess it's the first step to becoming better, acknoledge what's wrong and try to improve it :)

Thanks for sharing your work Mireadur !

congrats on getting him done. He's looking great, as usual. Looking forward to the next project. That dragon sounds epic! I would love to see in progress pictures of that project.

Haha, yeah. I agree as well. Then again, most people are their own biggest critics. :)

There's so much awesomeness in this paintjob that's incredible. That dragon on the cape ...just wow. Did you sketch and train on paper before ?
But actually there's just one thing that kinda bugs me ... the hair. I'm not saying it's bad (this would be the focus point if it was on my minis) but compare to the rest, it looks like it's one level below.
Anyway I can't take my eyes out of your model, I was constantly watching it while writting this message, it tooks me like 20 minutes to write it ...
Please keep showing us your masterpieces ! [-o<

You are right, the hair is two dimensional. Ive been thinking that maybe i didnt have it finished 1 year ago when i started painting the model? I think i will touch it up a little bit, thanks.

The dragon is what im least satisfied with. I guess its ok given my limitations on freehanding. I did a sketch on paper 1st, something i never do though, but i was a bit scared on this one. The original had front arms i decided to supress (maybe shouldnt have).

Anyway ill fix the hair and do a pic with more light, those came too yellowish.

EDIT: i updated the hair and added small light dots on the trident.

I feel it looks better without the white dots on the blade? thoughts please?

Maybe. I can only echo Azaam's comments. If anything this shield is even better than the others.

He looks great indeed. That cloak is just amazing. The hair improved a lot between the two iterations. I agree that the blade is probably better without the dots.

It's the journey that matters, not the destination ;)

That, and playing with the kid is also lots of fun (at least I guess...)

Gorgeous !
I really like the colours. The orange is very vibrant and the alternation of this fiery red and purple is kinda mesmerizing.
Can't wait to see the finished model !

Good start. The warm orange works very well with the dark grey of the horse.
