New AoS Play Test

I don’t think GW has ever made a perfect game. But, having just play tested it in store I’m really saddened and can’t help but think this is the furthest from perfect that they’ve gone :( I still paint but I can’t wrap my head around how GW have a healthy future. I miss my RnF. What I found funny wa...

Re: Andrews Relaunched Caledor Army

I just picked up a paint brush for the first time in 2 years!! :o In Jan 2017 I split up with my girlfriend, it was the best relationship I’ve ever had and the only one I’ve ever thought would “last forever”. Looking back I can tell that the communication skills (from both of us) weren’t good enough...

Re: Secret Santa 2016

Mines arrived :) it got here yesterday all the way from the US but I only got around to opening it now. I'm sorry to say it got damaged in transit so no photos until I get it repaired. It's a plinth/statue with a Dragons head protruding from some large wings. It makes a great display piece. I've not...

Re: I bet no one remembers me.

Yup, its not that bad - games still being played, miniatures painted. Only the rules questions forum seems to have died down  It's not just that though. I would regularly come on here and there would be 50+ Posts per day, on 20+ topics... now you're lucky if it's 5+ and 2+ respectively. I don'...

Re: Merry Christmas and Thanks

Lol, just reading the title there I can imagine how they came up with the name; imagine it's a board meeting in Nottingham and they're wrapping it up... "So we have the fluff all sorted for the new character, we just need a name for him. If you could bring your ideas to the next meeting it woul...

Re: Secret Santa 2016

My work was sent out, I don't know if it will be delivered by the 24th or not. More likely the 26th. Just an FYI for anyone posting to the UK the 26th and 27th will both be bank holidays meaning no post on these days. It's also likely that all post generally will take a day or so longer due to the ...

Re: 2,400 Dragon List First Attempt

We played a game :) I tweaked the list very little from the original first draft, other than I found out we were playing at 2,500 points not 2,400 so I found enough spare for another 6 flame wardens. So my thoughts; *I liked 9th a lot!! It feels like its trying to create a game which is balanced, fa...

Re: 6 player Eclipse

Eclipse is a Civilisation building game set in space. The goal is to build the best empire; you can do that by spreading out and occupying new planets, you can do it by developing your technology, you can do it by building monoliths/statues on your new planets... or you can just decide to beat the c...

6 player Eclipse

For any other board gamers out there I just played a 6 player game of Eclipse. We made good time at just 5 1/2 hours. We were playing with the Rise of Ancients and also the new Shadow of the Rift expansion which were fun. The new anomalies are tougher than I initially anticipated and they rather dec...

Re: 2,400 Dragon List First Attempt

Oh wow, I didn't realise there was another new edition.

I'll run it past my opponent next time I see him but my understanding is that this is the latest copy he has; it's what he presented me with and what he has proposed we play to.

4,800 points would certainly be fun!!

Re: 2,400 Dragon List First Attempt

Do you mean 2x 7 Swordmasters with the command stripped out? That would only save me 20 points... not even enough for 2 more Flame Wardens If I pulled the plug on the Swordmasters altogether then I would worry that I lack any sort of high intensity killing power. I mean sure, there's the Dragon and ...

2,400 Dragon List First Attempt

I posted this on my Painting Log, since that's where it arose from... but it occurred to me that the people best placed to give good advice may not frequent the painting forums as much as the 9th Age Forum. So how does this look as a first draft? Prince [615] Ancient Dragon Prince of Rhyma Glitterin...

Re: Andrews Relaunched Caledor Army

Exciting news!! A friend of mine and I are going to give the 9th Age a try. Dark Elves are one of his armies so I've suggested we start with that for thematic reasons. I've only skim read the rule book and it looks like it's basically just a tweaked version of 8th. I still think using 7th as a start...

Re: Andrews Relaunched Caledor Army

The Reavers are turning into a slowish paint and it's all starting to stall :/ I'm making progress; I'm hitting them with a paintbrush for around an hour a day for each of the last few days and they're definitely moving. Just slowly.

I reckon I'll have something to share with you all soon :)

Re: Request for IT Advice Ahead of Black Friday

Thanks for all the advice :) As discussed the key point is to get something reliable as I don't want to be buying another new laptop in 18 months time. On BGA I play Tzolk'in (was the world number one for a while), I play Stone Age (I was the UK number one for a while), Hearts, Jaipur, Can't Stop, C...

Request for IT Advice Ahead of Black Friday

I feel a bit foolish asking this, I'm still a 20 something with a techy job (I work as a business analyst) and for my work I know some very techy stuff about PC software, databases and applications. But I know next to nothing about PC hardware mainly because outside of work I tend to not have high e...

They are starting to look great. And It's becoming a pretty impressive unit this way. You can run some fun HE lists with that unit. A spearman horde is something that's still on my "to try" list. Although I first need to paint up some more models. I always like unit fillers because they a...

Re: If you could get any GW model...

Any model? At all? I would get the Smaug model from the Hobbit/LotR line. It's massive, a showpiece, and would challenge my painting skills. For practical purposes, I think I would get the new Alarielle model on the giant beetle. See above reasons with the added bonus of actually being able to fiel...

Re: Andrews Relaunched Caledor Army

Sooooo, I just did a points tally this morning to work out roughly how much I've got in High Elves. I've been telling people it's about 8,000 points, but that I reckon I could build a legal 6,000 point army for any recent edition. Turns out I actually have 9,600 points worth of High Elf models :shoc...
