Re: The Art of Speed Play

Great post.

I'll try to put these methods into practice, as it seems the polite thing to do.
Plus get myself a she-pee..
Might catch on. If your opponent just looks blank for a moment, then shivers, you'll know why.

Re: high elf / dark elf imbalance

I don't know if comparisons work with two distinct army types. According to the background, HE and DE history has traditionally defined a writers perspective on the Warhammer world so the two are linked and probably should be viewed as a pair. However, much of Ulthuan's concern has been with containi...

Archmage on foot?

BoTWD, star lance (Would the tourney allow this on a champ?) and a chariot for backline defence/mobile flexibility.

Re: How will wood elves handle ASF?

Much will depend on how many magic lores are accessible to WE casters. 20 mindrazored elf archers are identical across the board. Being able to smoke-and-mirrors characters through combats would be useful. The relevance of the magic phase to ASF in the Wood Elf book is of particular importance in th...

The cannon thing vs flying monsters (ref. Asturion's "Fly High")

Perhaps they might only be able to target flyers if they've landed, say, after a failed charge or a reform. Current rules for flyers and cannon are unbalanced.

Re: New book - Do we still have any useless units?

Shadow warriors have a couple of elements which I believe make them viable: BS 5 and scout/skirmish. With cavalry core, they provide a shooting phase which will clear chaff - with the option of magical range attacks too (Reaver Bow). This might have further redundancy in freeing up points potentiall...

Re: Throne of Skulls UK

Do it! Warhammer World is a fantastic venue, plus there's a pub on site. Gaming side of things, you might be surprised how fluffy some of your opponents' lists might be, even given the comp. And if you lose - sulk. Then blame dice and the beardy nature of some people's armies. Lastly, blame the new ...

Re: BSB builds

A different option: Reaver bow with a modicum of protection, and either handweapon/shield or greatweapon. Put him in an archer bunker with a L4 high mage. 30 or so archers with Shield of Saphery and a BSB with a bit of equipment can handle many serious combat units. I run mine like this with a obsi...

Moot point, Stormie.

Given the upturn of interest in high elves, the asur on asur battles might hinge on who can nerf their opponent's banner and hurt the unit first.

Comet and BOTWD.

Are wounds caused by a comet caused by the spell, or does the spell bring about a comet and the wounds are "mundane"?

If the latter, BOTWD offers no protection vs comets.

Re: Dragon Mage - How to build a tourney quality list?

Do the tourneys you are considering, have a PD cap? If so, the Reckless Rule wouldn't be particularly useful. Do you want to win the event, or compete to have fun? There'll be a middle ground for optimal and synergetic builds which might include a DM. Depends how you play it. What are the eagles doi...

You might not need to build your army around it, if the"right" support elements are already included in your army - shadow warriors, cavalry, and in particular, reavers and flyers These troops should be viewed as a forlorn hope though, in my opinion. Task them with assassinating characters...

This is crack..

I don't want to go to work. I'd like to sift through these rumours and consider the merits of an imaginary Caledorian list against a combined Tiranoc counter-strike, infantry army.
