Re: Eltharion's Strike Force
So some thoughts on the list real quick as well as a reply to Teledor. First, there actually isn't a BSB in the army. The Noble is there to utilize Moranion's Shard to turn the Archers into an ambushing unit. I took slightly less in the way of chaff because I intend to try and pick off my opponent's...

Eltharion's Strike Force
After receiving some interesting replies in the main Warhammer section, I decided to continue the discusion here as I have devised an army to actually debate. The rules for this list are as follows: it's a series of linked tournaments set at 2k for points where you must pick a special character to b...

Re: Eltharion's Army
Unfortunately that was the saddest unhappening that GW ever did. I was more upset by that than losing the whole Storm of Chaos story line. We also lost a really interesting politcal moment along with Eltharion's blinding. There was a part in that same story arc where Finubar knelt to Tyrion in thank...

Eltharion's Army
Hail brothers and sisters! I have a question to the community based on an upcoming linked series of tournaments I will be participating in. The objective is to pick a special character as your general, then design a 2000 point army around that character. The trick is to create an army that can be se...

Re: Real Men take Lore of Fire
As a Chracian of long standing and years, I feel compelled to stand up and answer this slur against our manliness!! We are the MOST manly of all elves! Hiding behind our kitties fur you say? Like true Scottsmen, true Chracians wear nothing under those lion pelts. Does your clothing keep rain off you...

Re: Mal's Blog - List Building revisited --- No Frosty?
Quick note. You under-costed your Archmage by ten points. Dropping a single Sister gives you those points, then you could buy the Ironcurse Icon for the remaining five points and bring yourself to exactly 2.5k.

Re: 625 Point Dragon Lord from new book
Much as I hate to perform some threadomancy, I've had my thinking cap on after closing at work and having about eight cups of coffee in the space of four hours. I came up with the following build, thought I'd see what everyone thinks. Prince Star Dragon Fencer's Blades Glittering Scales Potion of St...

Re: The White Host
Battle #2 Vs. The Faded Court (Vampire Counts) So the holiday weekend finally gave my girlfriend and I a chance to throw down against each other. I haven't felt the need to perform surgery on my list yet, so it stayed the same. Her list is: Vampire Lord w/ Level 4 (Vampiric Magic), Ogre Blade, Ench...

Re: The Host of Nagarythe 8th Edition list selection - Vote
I have to admit to liking the second list a lot better. I'm planning on attending a 2k tournament next month, and as I can't take my Dragon Lord, the list I came up with is remarkably similar to yours (minus some bells and whistles naturally). That said, how do you feel about replacing one of your R...

Re: The White Host
Hmm, just double checked my maths, and my points are all correct. Your Skycutter is 5 points too cheap, you're correct on the Dragon Princes, my BSB comes out to 165, and you have the points right for the Mage. Not sure, what's up with your file, you may want to double check it against the army book...

Re: The White Host
@ajpieri: Actually, I really like how the ring works with the Level 2. It makes her a pseudo Level 3, and pulls more dice from the opponent's dispel pool. It really adds to the trickle-like effect you get from High Magic now. I'm also kind a keen on keeping the Dragon Armour on my Prince at the mome...

Re: The White Host
Thanks! I used Battle Chronicler. There's an entire post by Curu in the Battle reports section that's a big help if you've never used it before. Now, a couple thoughts about the battle overall before I get down to the units themselves. I got lucky in two on two counts, and that really helped swing t...

Re: The White Host
Well, after my first game with the new army, I'm feeling pretty jazzed. It handled exactly like I wanted it to, and I can feel that there is definitely room for growth with both the list and myself as a player. I also got a chance to play against the new Warriors of Chaos, which was very interesting...

Re: Let's talk Flamespyres
Finally got my first game in with the new book myself, and I was also pleasantly surprised by how well the Flamespyre did. It greatly contributed to whittling down a chunk of Chaos Warriors. I really like the combo idea with the Dragon Princes!

Re: Path To Glory - 8th ed. High Elf Army Blog
Ha ha ha that's what I mean! But if you have the points and want to spend them, I'd pick the Halberd on the Prince. He loses all usefulness if gou lose the Giant Blade, the Halberd will at least give hims some damage output.

Heh, actually, with where your list is at, I really can't see anything to add with those 9 points. Anything you'd get for that price would just be redundant.

Re: Skycutter: worth it?
I plan on giving a naked Skycutter a try as a utility piece in my army list. I don't think the bolt thrower on it is really worth the points investment, but I see a flying chariot being able to add impact hits to key combats to be something worth giving a try!

The White Host
So I hesitate to call this an army blog as I tend to lose patience with trying to update on the internet when I could be playing actual games, but I figured I would give this a try. I'm really enjoying the glut of new flying contraptions and critters in our new army, as I tend to play very aggressiv...

Re: 625 Point Dragon Lord from new book
It's cheaper to do: Star Lance/Sword of Anti-Heroes Heavy Armor Charmed Shield Talisman of Preservation Comes in a 616 freeing up some points for Lion Cloak and Potion of Foolhardiness. That'd give you a 2+/4++ against shooting 3+/4++ and one round of ItP and an extra attack. Overall it'd be more s...

Re: 625 Point Dragon Lord from new book
So, can't believe I'm about to say this, but I think that the Armour of Destiny is actually looking like a really good buy for us. It does the same thing as heavy armour+ Talisman of Preservation and is less expensive by one point. Pair that with the Golden Crown and I think you have a decent start ...

Re: 625 Point Dragon Lord from new book
Heh, no prob. And at 10ss, it clocks in at just slightly more expensive than heavy armour plus the Dragon Helm while giving your mount the save as well. Worth the extra couple of points in my opinion. With this in mind, my build is probably looking like: Sword of might Enchanted Shield Dragon Armour...

Re: 625 Point Dragon Lord from new book
Well, after a trip down to my LSG, I got a peak at the new book. The wording for Dragon Armour is that it grants the "wearer" a 5+/6+ and Fireborn. Fireborn then says the "model" has the 2++ vs. flaming attacks. So Dragon Armour might still be useful on a Dragon Lord.

Re: 625 Point Dragon Lord from new book
@ RedAl: I really wanted to make Blade of Leaping Gold work, but I think it's just too expensive with the points limitation that we're working under. I agree though that the Other Trickster's Shard is a little too important to pass up on the Lord.

625 Point Dragon Lord from new book
So, being rather enamored with my Dragon Lord and his play style from our old book, I'm wondering what kinds of competitive builds we can make for a 2.5k list with all the new point information coming out. The Prince getting a slight discount to a cost of 70ss is encouraging, but the Star Dragon goi...

Re: Path To Glory - 8th ed. High Elf Army Blog
Heya Curu, I'm a long time Dragon player myself, and I have some thoughts for you. I've had a lot of success running a decent block of Sea Guard as a mobile fire base, and able to swing some late game fights with ranks. I'm planning on running a similar unit under the new rules, but with the additio...
