Re: 2000 “realistic” and as strong as possible

I think you have too many spearmen and too many points in core to be as strong as possible. The spearmen are still only S3, T3 models. You also don't have a lot of shooting. I would replace one of the spearmen units with 10 archers, which saves you 130 pts. Which is a Lion Chariot, or equivalent. I'...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports

. The Seaguard are my second secret tech in this ranged war. Whilst the sisters dance at range, the seaguard move up into the mid-board. If my opponent ignores them in favour of chasing after the sisters, they bring themselves into the seaguard's close range. If they shoot the seaguard, however, su...

Re: A new painting blog - OK Army project: Last two Maneaters

For Maneaters, I would personally go a bit less classic. They're meant to have travelled the world, and to have adopted the customs and fashion etc of the lands where they've worked and travelled. Something a bit more outlandish then fits. Maybe an ogre version of something chaos-y or undead-y, give...

Re: 1500 for tournament

If you're bringing this list to a tournament, be sure to check with the tournament organizers if the Warden of Saphery honour allows you to take the armour of Caledor on your archmage. It's something you want to have clear before you start. Other points: there is no reason to put the archers in sepa...

Re: 1500 - turnament with Bretonnian allies

It's an interesting list for sure. I hadn't given too much attention to allies. I guess it could work. I'm just curious if it's a lot of points to ground monsters. And even grounding them isn't all that effective in all cases. For a phoenix with M2 it definitely works. For a M6 dragon? I'm not so su...

Re: 3000 Points against Dark Elves ToW

I wouldn't swap the PG for LSG. The PG are better in almost every way, even if they're 4 points more expensive. Better armour save, 6+ ward save (and 5+ against flaming), better WS and I, Veteran, S4 AP1 AB1 magical attacks. They even cause fear. The LSG will not kill anything important in combat. T...

Re: A new painting blog - OK Army project: Last two Maneaters

Nice! These last two do seem to follow the GW mantra of "Skulls! Skulls, skulls and more skulls! Skulls everywhere!" ;)

I like them. They're flavorfull and blend in nicely with the rest of the unit, even though they're very individual models.

What are you planning for the banner?

Re: 2000 New-Age EAF

Interesting list. Lots of small, mobile stuff. Though the archers and sisters will probably end up being a bit lonely.

Note though that your archmage can't be your general in this case. Nobles are LD 9, while the archmage is LD 8, so one of the nobles will end up as your general.

Re: 3000 Points against Dark Elves ToW

I'm not really sold on the 12 LSG. At that unit size, you're not benefitting from their special rules. I think they'd be better as simple archers, or alternatively, the archers being LSG and combining into 1 big unit. For the SH, my theory is that they'd be better in a single unit. Yes, having 2 giv...

Re: Brawler Bash Results

The flagship Brets, WoC (in an edition where shooting is badly nerfed) and Empire with multiple Demigryphs and Stank. I could have picked this lineup with my eyes closed. Even at 24 games for the most played faction, the sample size is too small to say anything definitive about faction strength. Pl...

Re: Silver Helms Discussion

I personally think that 2 units of reavers and the rest of core filled with SH is probably our strongest option. Reavers are fast and cheap enough to be useful redirectors, which means you can save those points from the Rare Eagles. And then SH hit harder and faster than the other core options. Perh...

Re: NOVA Open Comp Pack released

Reading the comp, I don't actually think it's meant to balance the game or the different factions in any way. Note for instance that there are no army specific rules, which you really would want to have if you're aiming to balance things out. Instead, the comp pack intends to: provide an enjoyable e...

I'm not yet sold on MSU in TOW. The mechanics feel like they make it harder to pull off, since you run the risk of simply no...

2 obvious ones that are missing are the A song of Ice and Fire series by G.R.R. Martin, and The Hobbit By Tolkien (and the Silmarillion, though there the dragons are more like background characters). Other, recent ones are A Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter, and The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne. ...

Re: Triple Dragon List (just because)

That would be a sight to behold for sure... it wouldn't even do that badly on average I think. The main issue is that some armies will beat it easily while others have no way of dealing with 3 dragons. So I doubt you'd get many close games... I personally would combine the SH units into 1 big unit a...

Re: LOTS of Archers ?

My main question about this list is, what will you do once your list gets into combat? Even if all that shooting is effective, you've now killed 30 chaos warriors. Then they hit your S3, T3, no save archers with the rest of their army. What now? Half your army is now useless. They can't shoot becaus...

I'm not really sold on the spearmen darts. Let us know how they perform when you give them a spin. They're cheap, but that's about all that can be said of them. Eagle and reavers are still faster. if you ever desired to get into a fight, they also hit harder. I do agree that you could (with that lis...

1. Shooting feels weak. My archers, lothern seaguard, and bolt thrower together killed maybe 2 or 3 models at range. My opponent did roll some insane lady's blessing saves, and I rolled two misses with the bolt thrower shooting single shots against his grail knights. I might feel differently if I h...

A few thoughts on the list. I don't think the Skycutter is a great mobile bolt platform. Remember that the bolt thrower you can put on top doesn't penetrate ranks. So rather, it's a single shot that can hit 1 model and do D3 wounds. It's not terrible, however, it's by no means an amazing shooting pl...
