Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
Hey you guys, just got back from the colonies and decided to see the old floating homeland--What do you mean Ulthuan sunk?! Malekith's the Phoenix King now? Tyrion did WHAT? No, I don't want to live in a forest. Do I look like a Beastman to you? ---- That said, the writing in the Curse of Khaine is ...

Re: New book - the little things.
Speaking of Tiranoc chariot did anyone realize our mage and archmage can ride one? I don't have my 7th ed book at the moment so I don't remember for the archmage but I am pretty sure the mage couldn't take it before. That's yet another strange upgrade I think, a character shunning close combat on a...

In the current book, it makes sense for it to be a Rare choice. Not enough competition there.

Re: Falcon Claw Ballista Chariot!
Love this idea!
I think 8 shots is just right. Been trying to make a "Hawk Talon" Scorpion-esque weapon myself, 2-man crews and were purchased as Core for every 20 models of Spears/LSG.
This seems very cool and unique, would love to see the model when done.

Re: Core, Citizen Levy
It's a good idea, and I prefer customization whenever possible. But I chose not to go this route for my most recent swing at an 8th Ed book for one reason: specialization. It's hard to give the HE Core units the capabilities they deserve via equipment alone. You can frontload a lot of rules regardin...

Re: Mage-Knight
That could definitely work. But I don't know about restricting them to High Magic, it's an awfully good Lore... for Mages. It's the Lore Mages learn after they've learned the 8 main ones, so it makes sense for someone who devotes half his time between studying magic and swordplay to not be the best ...

Re: Another Crack at 8th Edition (Rough)
Thanks, Benjamin. Yeah Barrage is overpriced. I'm actually in complete agreement, RedAl. In cases where I couldn't recalculate the points cost to something "fitting" I left it more or less the same. In barrage's case, that was me lowering the strength from 4 AP to 3 and leaving the cost th...

The Elite Infantry have too many rules, those need major trimming. But I like the overall layout of it.

Another Crack at 8th Edition (Rough)
THE HIGH ELVES Blessings of Asuryan If a High Elf unit's Initiative is equal or greater than their target's Initiatve in combat, they may re-roll failed to-hit rolls against that unit. Their natural speed, grace, and magical affinity also grants them a 6+ Ward Save, which can be combined only with ...

Re: Mariners of Cothique
Well put! I don't put these up thinking it'll meld with the 8th Edition philosophy (which I find I'm not liking). It's just for kicks. I get to use them in fun games with friends who try out their own units (and vice versa).

Re: Sword masters of hoeth vs. dragon princes
That can get costly... The Spears could panic or get decimated quite easily with shooting, and that may disrupt your entire line. I sometimes went "Empire" by using Silver Helms to screen for the Swordmasters. Doesn't work out as well, considering how cheap and easy the Empire Knight Order...

Re: reavers against shooting
Well, people have mostly abandoned Fast Cavalry in 8th Edition. Our Great Eagles fill mostly the same role.
But if you wish to use one, the only thing that can save you from shooting is terrain and having higher threat targets that are worth shooting.

MARINERS OF COTHIQUE The mariners of Cothique embody the Asur enthusiasm for exploration that once gripped the entire race. Eataine and Tiranoc may have established the tradelanes and major ports, but it was always Cothique that forged ahead with new settlements, new resources, new lands. The provi...

Re: Greg's 8th edition rules
It's a Magical Greatsword that deals Killing Blows. It's nifty, but considering how killy our Princes are, it's kinda not worth the points. Especially since that carnage engine lacks a ward save.

Re: 2500 Lothern Sea Guard Horde
I like the theme and the list. My one concern is the lack of magic banners. The Banner of Eternal Flame for one of your LSG blocks, and the Banner of Sorcery for one of the WLs might help. A lone L4 can put that to great use. I was going to suggest High Magic, actually. Curse of Arrow Attraction cou...

Some sort of solemn prayer, I believe. But then again, we don't see much of their religion. Will modify the OP.
I don't think this was coincidental, surely the creators at GW knew they were doing this.

Both, actually. I kinda realized the Pantheon had those personalities, so I envisioned "priest lores" for them. I withheld Khaine since he wasn't really being worshipped by the HE, but yeah I could see that Fire thing for him.

Re: Complete High Elves Update 1.3 - more like GREAT DEBATE! :O
Hmm seems I've been playing the Magical Vortex wrong (all of the one time I actually used it lately lol). I reverted to a L4, L2, and BSB setup so I didn't have much room to experiment. Oh, and the SMs making their full attacks from the second rank proved rather devastating. The parry save saved one...

I know I'm late, but I'd like to weigh in on the RBT. The stupid thing is overpriced... in comparison with the bolt throwers of most other races. Most other races have alternatives to their BT, so the cost has to be lowered to make it a viable choice. In our case, the only competition the RBT has is...

Re: Greg's 8th edition rules
It's "Ithilmar" not "Ilithmar" by the by. I point that out because I'm ruminating on the sudden appearance of 4+ AS on the Elites, for essentially a minor points increase. It'll help against S3 and even S4 for sure. It's a more elegant solution than the multiple special rules tha...

Good to hear your feathered friend didn't disappoint.
For some reason, I see "Light" when I look at that list. High Magic seems like the safest choice but I think Light or Shadow can let you push the list.

Re: HE vs VC 1200pt
I think it's nice and powerful for this points level. I'm usually wary of using an AM at less than 2K, but if you're stuck with him, he does seem properly supported.
The VC will outnumber you badly though. I was going to suggest splitting off the SM into two units, you may just need two of them.

They can. The SMs are really great if they can get into combat. The main difference is the DPs are far more mobile (and can stand up to some shooting).

Re: Flames of the Phoenix are so hot!
Flames of the Phoenix draws dispel scrolls and dice like nothing else. It'll be more effective, if it lands. But Withering + Arrow is something a bit more reliable if you have a lot of other spells to cast. I'd say trickle-cast a few smaller spells then cast Curse of Arrow Attraction. Then cast Flam...

Once, it was mandatory to have two Great Cannon in every Empire list. Now, not so much, at least around my area. I'm more worried about the Helblaster making popcorn chicken out of my Eagle Prince. I'd love to read a full report, or even a summary.

My friends named my Eagle Prince "General Jerk" as no job is too small for him. In a test game on sunday night, I'm going for a GE flying circus list, I gave him the Lore of Death and he sniped at close range. Killed many good Empire Warrior Priests and the like and alternatively smashed i...
