Re: Reworking Elves ASF
1. OK, I'm first, 3+ to hit 2. I get to re-roll this misses 3. Oh, and re-roll all 1s as well. Right, and that is where the "cool 1st class feel" ends, because then I need 5's to wound and they have good saves. And then every hit they land wounds and I have no saves... and I am still spen...

Re: Reworking Elves ASF
In any case, I would like to hear about your oppinion. How would you replace ASF into something that made sense, was less hate-producing, and would make for a reasonable substitute without breaking them? I think ASF does make sense. ASF is a rule with a label for the gamer to understand, and the te...

Re: Petition for GW
Well, I think it would be nice if GW balanced the game better but I think there are just clear incentives to release something broken like Karl Franz or Nagash. I think we are going to see big flashy hero hammer to draw new customers in. I think GW chooses to appease the masses over their loyal cust...

Tyrion is a spitting image of Aenerion. In the past, it has even been mentioned that Morathai has the hots for Tyrion. Morathai and Tyrion are going to start boning. Morathai will corrupt Tyrion with chaos, and convince him to kill Teclis. Tyrion kills Teclis and Malekith (assuming Teclis didn't kil...

Re: 2400 Da Boyz List
Phoenix Guards are fine, but you would never deploy alarielle in them. You have Life, light, and High Magic at your disposal and as a result I think you have plenty of points denial as it is... do you really really feel obliged to have both of your units with wardsaves!? Pha's protection can cover b...

Re: Which do you prefer?
I like list 1 better, especially now that the Sun Dragon has a S4 breath weapon. For lists that want to go all in, I would strongly consider some firepower to get rid of chaff. I assume you are relying on magic on that front, but swapping out the second unit of Helms for 2 units of archers could be ...

Re: 2400 Da Boyz List
I like your new list a lot more, especially the flaming attacks on the Swordmasters. This unit is just too good in the watch tower scenario. Personally, I would swap the frostheart for a Noble with Star Lance, enchanted shield, and the other trickster's shard. He has so much damage potential, and if...

Re: 2400 Da Boyz List
1) Allarielle is going to be with the WL's, and I am confident with her sitting on a corner of a 6 wide unit and getting into combat and living through the turn. 2) I do agree that I should strongly consider life on her. 3) I agree that I need another combat unit, the only question is what and wher...

Re: 2400 Da Boyz List
I agree with matrim. You basically have a gunline that wants to sit back and shoot with chaff to slow things down. Even for a gunline, this army doesn't have a lot of combat units. It actually only has one, and that is also supposed to act as a bunker for your expensive Mage General, which is using ...

Noble - 176 -BSB -Dragon Armour -Barded Steed -Enchanted Shield -Obsidian Lodestone -Lance If you are going to go this far, then I think you are better off sacrificing the enchanted shield and just taking the Banner of the World Dragon instead. It is just better. Since the BSB is not a unit standar...

Re: Anyone run a list like this? 2.5k with Loremaster
I agree with Rexhavoc. It makes more sense that the Lv4 is with the White Lions for the miscast protection. I figured the reason for the +2 A blade is because he is going to be placed in the mindrazor bunker, but you do have the Shadow Lore, so you can be flexible with your character deployment. I t...

I am in the same boat, have old metal PG's and don't like the new ones. My idea is to Kit-bash the White-Lion models with glade guard parts. I take Amber Spear when I wish high elves could field a cannon. I liked wildform because I figured (-1 to hit) was the same as (+1T) most of the time, and preferred the +1 S... but Curse is a lot of fun (especially with Miasma). I would consider Glittering Robes when Soulblight alone isn't enough. P...

Re: 2500pt Teclis list for tournament this weekend
You are correct on your interpretation of steed of shadows. You can get a character out of combat with the Shadow Lore though (but you would be putting another character in his place). Deployment really just depends on your match up... did you play dwarfs before HE? Not that this is a bad thing, but...

Re: Making LSG viable
The problem with that is while you're buffing the LSG so they are as good as an elite unit... you could be buffing an elite unit so that it is deadly. Instead of putting wyssans on LSG... you could just take phoenix guard for effectively the same result (and actually better... and not relying on ma...

Re: Making LSG viable
You will get a few players who will tell you LSG do not belong in any competitive list whatsoever. And they have intelligent points to support this claim. I am going to tell you to go for it though, because LSG are my favorite unit. As far as your mindset on using them, I will have to disagree. Sinc...

I dunno, lately I only fight against VC and WoC, so the attacks that actually reach them are usually S5. The only thing VC has that exceeds S3 in their core is Slavering Charge (from the doggies). Do you play someone who has condemned their core to tarpits and chaff? If they get bored of that and t...

Re: Skycutter and Seaguard
In general, spears have gotten weaker in this book because everything gets an extra rank anyways and spear elves didn't get cheaper. There is only one justification that I can see for spears getting relatively weaker to the rest of our options: our magic. The Loremaster is an extremely convenient in...

I don't know why you have to have an army that represents something that could feasibly exist in the "present day" of WHFB. Ahzag the Slaughterer is a special character... THAT IS ACTUALLY DEAD. Empire has one as well but his name escapes me. Basing your army around an extinct colony is re...

Re: 2 Dragons monster Mash competitive 2500pts
What about an Archmage on a Star/Moon Dragon instead of the Prince? With Life/High it shouldn't be hard to keep him alive. With an Talisman of Endurance/Preservation on a High Mage can an Archmage see combat alright? It's so tricky because I feel like you HAVE to have both the 4+ Ward AND Book of Ho...

Toying with various ideas... that is a bit vague! I would love to hear some of them so we know where to start! Yeah that's how I would do it... but I would definitely have the Biting Blade Noble be the BSB so that you have the option to be more reckless with the Star Lance Noble. The points on the Archers don't add up for me: is it 15 with St/mus or 14 with FC? Maybe consider trading a RBT for another lone T...

Just make a Sea Patrol list, it is more bad ass! To get your fluff bases covered: Sea Lord Aislinn rides a dragon. DP's are arrogant so that can justify there presence in any list (assuming your army has a sacred duty or mission). And if you haven't bought a phoenix model yet... maybe convert a wing...

Re: Teclis List [ETC]
I think the coolest thing with Teclis is the options. I don't think you should commit his spells, but have multiple possibilities: I mean theoretically you could have a light coven for banishment, but if you are going to do that... get 1 or 2 more light mages. Just take em' naked and get Savage Beas...

It has been a while since I have posted here, but I couldn't resist because I have a strong opinion on Sea Guard. They are better than ever now. Shooting in three ranks has been a godsend for these guys AND now they are even a point cheaper... The 30" range argument has lost some of its weight ...

So... you have some issues. You can spend up to 25% of your choices on lords. In 2500 points, that is 625 points on lords. You have spent more than 625 points between your prince and Archmage. Also, your Mage is illegal because characters can only carry one magic item of each type, and he is carryin...

My favorite prince build is pretty goofy: Prince 286 Dragon Armor Shield Barded Steed Starlance Vambraces of Defense Potion of Foolhardiness For his fluff, he is an extremely arrogant Caledorian that carries a very big lance (some say to compensate for other things). He is screw-up son of a very tal...
