Re: Etc draft 3 - HEs kicked in the groin
I would absolutely love if you could give me, exact, specific builds that you think are a problem. And I would love if the AR.com would reveal any and every list they believe is broken and maintain a powerhouse table as I described above. AR is not going to breach anything shared with it for the pu...

Re: Etc draft 3 - HEs kicked in the groin
The question then, at long last: Does the AR.com currently have a structured idea of what the best builds are for all the factions? A follow-up question would then be whether you have a matchup matrix for these lists and whether you use those numbers as a means to balance the armies. I guess you do...

Re: Etc draft 3 - HEs kicked in the groin
Ok, this will be an angry one... Have you guys lost your mind?! Do I really have to change my army? Cause atm those DE are totally useless piece of crap... Sorceress on horsihorsi 1 choice!??! For real? Super ultra strong black dragon for 0.5 choice? Oh, wait, its actually 1 slot, not 0.5. Wood Elv...

Re: Etc draft 3 - HEs kicked in the groin
linky-linky to horsihorsi post? Interesting discussion actually. It seems like the ETC comp keep 'forgetting' that their comp is actually used by a lot of (non-ETC) tournaments out there. They probably ignore it and focus on the team aspect as much as anything. But it makes me wonder how the comp w...

Re: Etc draft 3 - HEs kicked in the groin
Heh, don't want to rub salt in the wounds, but can't resist sticking my neck out... Its funny how much flak I got for my "eternal whingers" poke in the 2.5.1 thread: http://www.ulthuan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=68098&start=150 And yet with an incoming nerf, a massive sh*tstorm...

Re: Etc draft 3 - HEs kicked in the groin
Yeah you basically echo my sentiments Andros which I wrote on TWF. Next year I'll likely apply for AR.com. I can't believe that it can be such a hard job that it apparantly seems to be. Be open about your decisions and rationale and stay true to your mandate. I hope you do, not enough people run im...

Re: Etc draft 3 - HEs kicked in the groin
After reading through the comments on the new draft and the AR teams responses, I must say I'm fairly shocked. You really get the feeling, that most of the decisions made by the team, seems to be based on a few tournaments and gut feelings. I my opinion you would need a huge amount of games to be a...

Re: Etc draft 3 - HEs kicked in the groin
Well, also there is some illogical and irational HE hate since the 5th edition, which after giving all elves ASF seems to have spread on all pointy ears. Not so worrying for the Druchii, as they never really cared if the others like them or not ;), and also their book is quite good and they can mak...

Re: Etc draft 3 - HEs kicked in the groin
Agreed on Book/Scroll. Most strong players on here, if they have to choose, drop the Book. There was also a thread on TWF debating this. Several mid-strength players came on and said Book. Then two really good players posted. Both said scroll. Playstyle and specific builds could impact this but ove...

Re: Etc draft 3 - HEs kicked in the groin
ETC players I guess, judging by the opinions voiced on the TWF thread. I recently played with a captain from another team on UB. We discussed their team last year, they ended in the bottom half of the teams. Anyway, said team had a hard time getting 8 players to go so in the end they took on their ...

Re: Etc draft 3 - HEs kicked in the groin
I think that if Teclis does not have Spirit Leech in his spell selection, he should be 3 choices. As it is, in the case there is no spirit leech in his portfolio, the player is paying 1 choice without actually receiving any benefits.. Teclis is allowed to choose his spells at the start of each game...

Re: Etc draft 3 - HEs kicked in the groin
I think one of the disconnects right now between the AR.com guys and everyone else is they keep saying "all these tournament results show HE are dominating" but have failed to provide evidence for fear of "invalidating people's lists" which to me sounds pretty political. If they...

Re: Etc draft 3 - HEs kicked in the groin
I am on AR and I don't ignore non ETC people, I WANT ETC comp to work better for singles events. However there are just certain lists that can be too powerful in a team environment. AR is not political, the lobbying of AR by captains IS political. In most of the data I've been looking at HE were ver...

Re: US Masters 2015
Daniel easily had one of the best painted armies at the Masters and should of placed in the top 3 for paragon if the system wasn't so skewed for battle. That will be fixed for next year. But I agree, I though Dan's, Peyton's, Eoin's and Skaven and Night goblin armies (you know which), were a...

Re: US Masters 2015
To me, 20th overall (13th bp) is not succeeding. A good and above average finish... but success? Its concerning.. no.. alarming that that result is deemed as successful enough to justify the fairness of the comp pack. Success is relative to the goal the player had going in. Swede and the comp pack ...

Hero, instead of a whiny rant, perhaps you could get involved. Which region do you play in? How it can be possibly viewed as competitive when there's huge imbalances and ...

Because Swedish appears more loose than ETC until you understand it.
I am hopeful that this years ETC comp will get used next year. Though 9th will likely be out.

Re: WE Enchanted Arrows - how many allowed?
People believe that there is no clearcut answer because the enchanted items are already being duplicated(by each model in a unit), so why stop the duplication at 12 models instead of 25? People do not read the description of how to buy the items for a unit as an exception to the no duplication rule ...

Re: WE Enchanted Arrows - how many allowed?
I know of no major tournament or rulespack ruling that each arrow can only appear once. I discussed it with Corey and Jon before crossroads. Corey is of the mind to allow it, mainly because he wants to, and feel the rules are not clear enough so there!. Jon was on the fence and decided to rule as C...

Re: I don't know how many of you have seen this..
Agree with Lord Anathir. I see Warhammer as 90% a role playing game where the look and background stories matter, if I play a great looking army that makes it easy to get into the game and background I enjoy myself fare more. While armies like these can be fun as display items, they will stop some ...

I am one of the organizers and the head rules judge for the event.
I can say many people did not take HE due to swedish comp scores. Most people felt they could get a better bang for the score with a different army.

Re: Australian Masters 2013
Interesting dilemma, I do think WoC will be very popular, but I feel like the overall powerlevel of lizards went down... and will make it tough to compete. I think lizards could do top10-5 but extremely unlikely to win, so depends on what you are going for.

So I came across this analysis on the Warhammer Forum from the TO. Since I like looking at tournament breakdowns, I thought it interesting. http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=119838&view=unread#unread It jumped out at me that both the Brett and (especially) the O&G lists ...

There is a template, that is why it is possible to hit more than one unit with the attack.Aerendar Valandil wrote:'..tha do not use templates'.
So if a template is NOT USED (and the shooting attack is not magical) the ward applies.
Clear as water.
But what do I know, I actually read the rules and FAQs.

It is a template, the size of the model. Duh. Otherwise you would never use the model, you would use ballistic skill, which is not used.Eirik wrote:agree with loreil

Re: Swordmasters' Deflect Shots and Goblin Doom Divers
Long time reader, first time poster, Anyway, what I would like to ask your opinion on is whether or not Swordmasters get a 6++ deflect shots against Doom Diver Catapults. Probably not, rules as intended and whatever you might say -- bear with me here. This is what each army book has to say: -Deflec...
