Re: What points system do you use?
Of all th esystems I tried in my opinion the best by far is the PPC Comp. It has the least rules changes, adresses the summon problem in the best way and the best points system. Azyr in my opinion is very intrusive and changes the rules to the point it feels like a different game, fails in the summo...

Re: US Masters 2016/17 Vote Result
Best of luck to Mantic from me too. I have played their game and it is nice. I will be sticking to Age of Sigmar though in the end. I like the fluff and the fact that finally it is moving on and want to follow up. The thing is I really dislike the mantic miniatures. They are decades behind and espec...

Re: Age of Sigmar Megabattle: Part 3 The Finale
Great job guys. I watch all your AoS videos and you do a great job. What I would alos like to see is that you use at least wounds as a points system so we can have an idea of the balance. Now I know that you don't want to commit to any comp system, but imo at least using the wounds would be nice as ...

Re: The end of free army books...already?
The warscrolls remain free. The book just has the whole range for the Stormcast Eternals plus some battalion warscrolls, fluff and information sbout the "chapters" they have.
I have bought the book so I can have all my warscrolls in one place and also for collection.

Re: Initial AoS Game Results, Thoughts, and Suggestions
I have played about 5 games of Age of Sigmar and I have come to the following conclusions: 1. The game without comp (at least a bare minimum "we agree to bring the same ammount of wounds on the table") is unplayable without any meaning at all. 2. It needs scenarios with objectives (maelsto...

Re: 2nd Edition Kings of War release
Greetings guys and gals. It feels like a century since the last time I posted on the forum, but as I recently began to have an urge for fantasy battles again (40k had the better part of my attention in the past two years) and I tried and plan to play both Kings of War and Age of Sigmar it feels like...

Re: Allied forces speculation
I must say that from a fluff point of view I despise alliances and feel they are only fun in multiplayer games (2vs2, 3vs3 etc...). Also there cannot be balance and it is wrong even from the rules perspective. Each one of us has an army that has its weakenesses and strengths. With alliances this is ...

Re: Sword Master unit size
I recently used a unit of 38 of them packed with BotWD and my two characters (Loremaster and Sea Helm Bsb) and I must say they performed marvelously. I had also one unit of 38 White Lions with Razor Standard. Both Units had a great performance and after trying this build and comparing it to past siz...

Re: Units of Great Eagles
I dissagree. Just because a unit lost all of its models but does not mean that it stops being a unit. I would argue that even a lone eagle benefits from the -1 to hit on ranged atacks.
I will have to check the rulebook once again but I think this is the way it is played...

Re: Possible Final ETC Draft for High Elves...
I think I know of three ETC tournaments where High Elves won with double Forstbirds (two of Furion's plus another in the battle report forum) so it is definitely top-level powerful, I just don't think it's anything that needs comping especially. Since ETC doesn't allow the -1 Str to be stacked, it'...

incompetence and total ignorance of the game are the first words that spring to my mind... Any reasoning or just eek comp? which bit is unjustified in context? Possible Final ETC Draft for High Elves...
Taken from the final proposed draft currently in vote: High Elves (2400pts) • Flying units (excluding chariots), max 4. • Frostheart Phoenixes, max 1. • Book of Hoeth counts as 2 power dice and 1 dispel dice. • Banner of World Dragon counts as 1 dispel dice. • Ellyrian Reavers, max 3. • Models armed...

Re: Are Sea Helms any good without Skycutters?
The true value of naval discipline in my opinion lies in denying the enemy the flank advantage versus our precious elite infantry imo. Especially on the Sword Masters and the Phoenix Guard it can work miracles. White Lions are stubborn so it does not help that much but even then why grant the oppone...

The tears of people who have had a legacy of all-star, overpowered units is music to my ears. VC have nothing to complain about at all... Re: Another player's analysis of units (new-spells and items)
7 ws7 attacks with reroll are great but with strength 4, they will do you no good... Giant Blade that adds +3 strength will result in more kills (unless you face T3 with little armour hordes) and will also be much much better versus big things/fighty characters for 10pts less. The Blade of Leaping G...

Re: What is your favourite artwork from the new book?
Anyone noticed that they have photoshoped two artworks with Shadow Warriors and now they have the new closed helms of the unit instead of the plain faces they had in the previous book?
Other than the change in helmets you will notice that they are the same artworks.

Re: Skirmisher mage
The unit needs to be a nuisance but not a threat. Even a level 4 in shadow warriors is a nuisance so long as he isnt your general. The idea has to be your army has to be threatening enough that the enemy uses his power dice, and cant really afford to magic missile a unit. Most mm start at d6 so not...

Re: Skirmisher mage
Well you can always put a bsb with banner of the world dragon in the Shadow Warrior unit and raise their survivability significantly. Of course we are talking about a deathstarish unit at that point. Another problem is that if I remember correctly the character cannot begin the game inside a unit wi...

I feel the Reaver Bow is not a very good choice as you can't shoot with it after you have marched and I imagine using the special attack of the Phoenix will require lots of marching.

Re: Please GW: BRING BACK THE MAGE-KNIGHT! :)
The Loremaster is a great choice in my opinion and the almost perfect realization of the Mage Knight as I always envisioned him. There is a reason he is on foot and that is the fact he is a Sword Master and they are an infantry unit. Fluff-wise it fits him nicely. In game terms, if he could ride a h...

Re: High Magic
I'm not realy a fan of horde formations for elves, so that may explain part of it. But I can imagine that having only 1 model in B2B (so something like 4 attacks max from normal infantry/cavalry) helps mitigate the problem a bit. But that very quickly becomes a very expensive block. For horde of WL...

Re: stubborn
Crown of Command on a character. The best candidate is the Annointed because he is the only character who can take the crown and still manage to be survivable due to his innate 4+ ward save. Other option is an Archmage with talisman of preservation and High Magic, but you will have to forgo the Book...

Re: High Magic
If you use a horde formation and keep the Archmage in one of the edges of the unit then you can minimize the hits your enemy will be able to direct at him and even avoid combat alltogether if the enemy unit has smaller frontage. On top of that if you have Apotheosis you can even heal your character....

Re: counters to MC and Monsters
have you read the item? you then pull out a great weapon or halberd :P I am aware but both of these options are not that effective (great weapon has nor rerolls and halberd has little strength) but more importantly they will leave your character with very crappy defence leading easily to his death....
