Re: Rise of the Anointed - 2,200pts HE vs TK
Hey Jimmy, thanks for the detailed feedback! I have enjoyed reading your posts in the past couple months. You had a few queries regarding my tactics for casting spells (Withering on War Sphinx, etc) - most of these are a result of my inexperience I am afraid! I didn't know the rules or characteristi...

Re: Solith's Battle Blog: Game 9 - 1500 HE vs WoC - 10/03
@korabas Thank you! It's interesting looking over these reports. The few times I've used my Loremaster as a pure caster she's done really well for me. In other games (not done as battle reports sadly) I've tried using her more as a combat-caster and she ends up dying far too often. Something of a w...

Re: HE MSU at CanCon 2014 - Game 6 vs Dwarves - deployment
Ooh, looking forward to seeing you outmaneuver the Dwarven castle! Miners could be a thorn, depending on when they show up, of course. I suppose the Dwarves will otherwise maintain a fairly tight formation to protect the warmachines - could be a pretty tricky match!

Re: Battle 4 (O&G) - MSU! List refined.
Nice report, congrats on the win! It seems Carmen the BSB does very well mounted on the Eagle. I was wondering how you are finding Crown of Atrazar on the Archmage, in general, do you think it's enough protection? I can't afford TalPres in my list, so am going with Crown, but haven't yet had enough ...

Lovely reports Solith - haven't got to the WoC one just yet, but the WE Stagbus looks like it was pretty difficult to stop! Hopefully read some more later this week if I get a chance

Re: Blog vs Forum
Swordie, your batreps are very detailed and I always tend to read them when I see them. I would be happy to read them on a blog, as well as/instead of on the forum, although I do agree with Aicanor that you would probably still need to advertise them here. Some others do it with their YouTube batrep...

Re: Rise of the Anointed - 2,200pts HE vs TK
Cheers Solith, glad you enjoyed it! I was surprised at how well the Swordmasters did, especially as the PG didn't perform quite so well (although, I think that was more to do with my lack of a solid plan for them). I was expecting the Swordies to get shot off the board by archers fairly early on, bu...

Rise of the Anointed - 2,200pts HE vs TK
I’ve never played Warhammer Fantasy before, and have only just returned to tabletop games having been away for 15+ years, but I’ve been busy gathering elves from every corner of Ulthuan over the last couple of months (by which I mean IoB and eBay!) and now have just enough to field 2,200 points, led...

Re: Alternative to Battle Chronicler for Windows 8?
Hi korabas, I managed to install BC on my new laptop with Windows 8 just fine. What kind of problem did you encounter? Cheers! Sorry guys. Actually, I saw that only XP/Vista/Win 7 were listed and assumed that it wasn't supported in Win 8, and so didn't download it. And now feel foolish for simply n...

Alternative to Battle Chronicler for Windows 8?
Much as title says really - thought this would be the best board to post on (please move thread if not, mods!). I have just played my first (ever) WHFB battle and am keen to write up reports in the spirit of the fine work on this forum (Swordmaster, looking at you buddy, among many others). However,...

Re: Monthly Painting Challenge - February
Hmm.. what did I pledge? Finish some Swordmasters, paint and assemble IoB mage, paint the first 10 LSG..? Yeah. No. Not happening! SM are almost finished, but I haven't made any progress from where they were at the start of the month. I have base coated the shields, spears and armour for the LSG. In...

Re: Anointed led - 2000pts Phoenix!
Hi Madness, Interesting seeing this, as this is almost identical to the list I am currently building! Mine is also led by an anointed on foot and I am planning on including 2 Frosties when I have the models. At the moment I am using the Anointed to boost a unit of LSG, as I feel that some of his uni...

A great series of battle reports Jimmy! I am just getting back into WH after 15 years off and am building my first HE army at the moment. Like you, I am planning on trying out the Anointed on Foot - those unit bonsues are just too good to miss out on. How do you find him so far? My list will also be...

Re: Good ruins/scenic stands for Great Eagles?
Cheers Cëloril Le'fer, great link. Their stuff is indeed lovely and those flying bases are perfect - although I think eagles are supposed to be n 50mm bases these days, rather than 40s. Annoying.
A little pricey for me perhaps.. maybe i'll try to make something similar from greens stuff? Thanks

Good ruins/scenic stands for Great Eagles?
Hi guys, I have a pair of the old metal great eagles from eBay, with no flight bases. I figured it would be best to pin or magnetise them to a scenic flight stand for ease of transportation. Do you guys know of any good, cheap 40mm scenic flight bases? Or alternatively, small elven ruin elements tha...

Re: Painting larger highlights/feathering - how is it done?
Here are some quick photos of my works in progress - some Swordies, and the IoB mage. These were taken with my phone, at night, under a stand lamp, so the lighting is pretty awful. I have wet-blended the mage cloak with a mix of incubi darkness, dark reaper, and temple guard blue, which I am quite p...

Re: A fresh start and a new army
Just checking out your models - a lovely colour scheme you have going, it's really effective! I have almost finished painting my first unit (swordmasters) and I have so far left the blades black. I am planning on giving them a dark green, glass-like finish, so imagine my surprise when I saw your jad...

Re: Painting larger highlights/feathering - how is it done?
Gave this a proper go last night, doing highlights on some Swordmasters, and also working on the IoB mage cloak (that had previously been painted with wet blending). Results are... mixed? Swordmasters are looking good but I think the paint was too think/dry, as there is still a fairly distinct line ...

Thanks both. Ambrosius (Labyrinth ref?) i've seen a bunch of her vids before but had not seen that series - thanks, very helpful! Mal, i'd seen that one before and it's a good video, but not quite what I meant by feathering. An old GW Citadel painting guide says that you can paint a different colour...

Painting larger highlights/feathering - how is it done?
Sorry for such a beginner question. I don't particularly consider myself an absolute beginner, but I have NEVER been able to get the hand of layering paints/feathering/blending to build up layers for larger areas of highlight, such as the folds of a robe. etc I can use washes and glazes well, use dr...

I've just finished my new Redemptor Priest gang leader, so time to get some elves going - i'll pledge 8 mostly finished Swordmasters, 7 basecoated LSG and a half-finished IoB mage (currently in 3 pieces). Aside from painting, I also pledge to strip the paint off 2 2nd hand eagles and 5 Reavers that ...

Hey Mathias,
Sounds like you had a good game against the DE, nice win! Just thought i'd let you know that mages can't take magical armour items (like the charmed shield) unless they are already equipped with regular armour or have the option to buy it.

Host of the Anointed - 2400pts
Well, I DID have a themed Chrace list planned, and before that an MSU list, but yesterday I read the rules for the Anointed of Asuryan - wow, that guy has some perks! And as Eataine and Chrace have similar colour schemes (red and yellow according to the paint jobs and heraldry in the book) I have no...

Do you have the Manticore lord modelled up yet? If love to see it. Nope, sadly not. The only thing I have so far is Reavers, plus some other HE stuff that isn't in this list. This will be an ongoing project, probably ending with the dragon/manticore. Just a suggestion, it might be worth having a lo...

Thanks guys. the Griffon model is lovely, but it seems like it would be very hard to use effectively (especially for a beginner) due its glass cannon-ness. For a bit more context, this sort of list is what is currently bouncing around my skull: http://www.ulthuan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=...

EDIT: 24/01/14 - list tweaked and magic items added Hi all, I've not been here long, and am hoping to get some refresher games of Warhammer in this spring with a view to entering local tournaments later in the year.
