Re: Magnets and Storage Question
Thanks for taking the time to respond, guys. @Shannar: Supergluing the greenstuff back in after is pops out is definitely an option, but I'd rather find a 2.5 mm magnet for sure. @Eagle: Does that work? I mean, you can actually superglue uncured greenstuff to things and they play nice together? Does...

Magnets and Storage Question
I've gone and built myself a spiffy plastic tote with steel sheet in the bottom for storing my minis, but I'm having trouble with the rare earth magnets in the bases. When super-glued directly to the bottom of a stock GW base, a 2mm thick magnet doesn't make contact with the metal sheet and a 3mm is...

Cheers for the reports. I wince in sympathy when I see that dwarf gunline hit the table. All three of my regular opponents play dwarves, and their shooting is no joke.

Wow, don't know how I missed this thread, but everything here is really nice! I especially like the frosted-over human fleeing (in vain!) from the phoenix. Also, where did the silver helm horses come from? I don't recognize them.

Re: Ideas for colour scheme (new army)
I have to vote for the purple also. The ghost effect is neat, but I don't think it'll look so great across an entire army. I'd be saving that technique for a frost phoenix or maybe a terrain piece (marble statuary?). Edit: I also think the ghost color you achieved would look good on any kind of clot...

Really liking the longbeards, Anathir. Lots of good texture with the woodgrain and the hair. Thane is looking good, too. I've always been a fan of that model and I personally like the subdued color palette.

Re: Paperclips and Magnets
I'd recommend supergluing your models to the bases before basing, unless you're doing some kind of over the top scenic base. Elmer's glue dries clear, so getting a little on the feet of the model when you're putting sand/flock/etc on there doesn't hurt anything. If some sand sticks to places you don...

Re: Dismantling Super-Glued Models with Minimum Damage to Pa
They are all plastic terminators. I like the idea of using some of the solvents (Goof Off, alcohol, etc) on a painted test model/sprue, but it'll probably be a week or so before I have time to dust off the paints. Does the freezer make paint flake off of plastic models or just the metal ones? Guess ...

Dismantling Super-Glued Models with Minimum Damage to Paint
I've got some (recently painted) terminators that, in retrospect, I'd like to repose. This would involve getting them apart at the waist and the neck. I put them together with ZAP brand thin superglue + accelerator. I've snapped super-glued models apart in the past, but these are proving stubborn. I...

Looking good - tidy, nice color palette (I'm a big fan of earthtones on any model, not just woodies), really like the basing - it all adds up to a very pleasing result. Do you have a rough idea of roughly what your painting time per model would be?

Re: Magnetized Army Transport Options?
I'll second the suggestion of sheet steel in a plastic tub. Mine came from Lowe's instead of Ikea, but it's essentially the same. The only difference is that I laminated the sheet steel to a plywood tray in the bottom of the tub instead of gluing it to the lid. The other thing I have seen people do ...

Looking at these Tablewar mats on their website, and they do look neat. How does the storage/carrying case work? Do they just roll up like a yoga mat?
Also, congrats on the (almost) finished army! It's really obvious that a lot of time and talent went into it.

40k Dark Vengeance Boxed Set a Good Start for Marines?
I've never played 40k at all, and am looking to poke my nose into it in a games-with-friends kind of way. My most frequent opponents will be Orks and tank-heavy IG. While cruising for cheap marines on Ebay, I ran across a LOT of bits from the boxed set, and am wondering how they stack up to the stan...

I hear you on the knights being a pain to rank up. I gave up trying to put them all on one tray and just put each rank on separate tray. That way if they don't fit together snugly, it's no big deal.

Re: Nyeave's plog - VC test model, comments appreciated!
Silflor makes some really reasonably-priced tufts. I bought their small'ish container of late summer Buffalo Grass for $8 USD and I've based 2500 points of High Elves with some left over. (This was with only 1 or 2 tufts per base.)
