2000 pts all rounder list, taking on Dwars

Tomorrow morning (in about 10 hours) i will be playing against my brothers Dwarfs. I really don't know what he will bring, but he is a big fan of Iron Breakers, big blocks, killy lords and is likely to castle up I don't want to specifically design my list against dwarfs, but use it again later in th...

Please don't keep us waiting for to long. I'm really excited to see how this will end, as civil wars always are the most interesting match ups :)

i won't comment on the outcome, but his force looks rather intimidating. Best of luck

Re: How do you prefer your BRs?

Pictures are good to display the painting and modeling skills of the opposings sides, but to better grasp the tactics of the game, battle chronicler diagrams are far superior. It hasn't been mentioned here, but i also prefer written battle rapports over youtube ones, because then i can read them at ...

thx for the reports looks like you played two solid games, stupid mistake in the 2nd game, but did you play with open lists?? if so, it's easy to forget an item in the heat of battle, if not, then it is indeed a security measury i would make as well. What was the order of your deployment?

Re: Solith's Battle Blog: Game 7 - 1000 HE vs Dwarfs - 04/03

I'm thinking that you could try and deploy everything as far away from the deployment line as possible. This would leave the organ gun and quarellers out of range, giving you time to deal with the gyro if it vanguards as violently as in the two games before. The cannon will still pound you, but a li...

Love the idea sofar. Your explanation for "Seekers of the lost" seems incomplete but i guess their experience in the drowned halls make them so grim and harsh that they instill fear in enemies, and that their spectral ancestor, claimed by the sea when ulthuan was about to sink and are now ...

A while back i saw a unit from cothique. They where marines with heavy armour (i think), shields, hand weapons and javelins. Can't remember the rules for them, but they where cothiquan marines, and they excelled at putting down monsters. Their home waters are after all one of the most monsterinfeste...

Re: What's the point of chariots?

To illustrate Findolfin's point, i have taken two diagrams he made for his battle report against an HE-Dwarf alliance. A unit of Seaguards are acting as a anvil with a unit of hammerers waiting to hammer the flank of any charger. Under heavy dwarf bombardment a Dragon Prince bus had the choises of c...

Nice reports :) like you, i don't know much about the tomb kings, but i fail to see the logic in commiting so many ressources for a single monster and letting you take the brunt of the fighting alone. Think of the result if it wasn't mindless gors (no offence meant, they just match a simple and dete...

Re: What's the point of chariots?

Quite often i use a pair of Tiranocs. Skaven is my main opponent and he favors the use of censor bearers, and the tiranocs can be quite effective in knocking them down, and are the non-mounstrous unit best capable of withstanding the fumes. I have often reduced the unit number to about seven, and if...

If you want woods and flowers, i would be catious to include the seafaring cothiquans and their hills and underground houses. That's for the BSB, look closely. Personally i think your list is fine. You might consider a razor standard to the phoenix guard, so they become really nasty. High Magic is good for killing lots of poorly protected enemies, which your army already have a lot of ways do deal with. You should consider...

Monsters/m. infantry and handlers vs stomp/thunderstomp

The scenario is, that i charged a noble on a griffon with swiftsense into a unit of 2 rat ogres + 2 handlers. I manage exactly six wounds to kill of the rat ogres before thunderstomp, and as the handlers technically are infantry and it wouldn't change the outcome of the fight much, i was allowed to ...

They are used to shoot at, is not the same as used to hit, and thus giving the lsg always hit with bowshots on 3+ is way to strong, but some rule to justify their lifelong expirences in naval warfare wouldn't be to much to ask. The star lance wielding drakemaster will have a target sign on him, if you play with open lists, as he's nasty and worth a bit. I need no convincing in the spearelves combat prowess. if i compare the seaguard to the spearelves, you lose something you needed and gain something you don't need (from my point of view at least).
