Re: Chariot Prince 2400
Characters can't be used for wound denial anymore (you can always just attack R&F models even if they're not in base contact). But I can't see SpellArcher going for anything that beardy anyway =]

Re: Some advice to a "new" player please :)
Sisters are definitely your best tools for wounding the TG, but unfortunately, as SA pointed out, they'll be in range of his scream if they're close enough to shoot. TG can't march if it starts its turn more than 8" (12"? can't remember) from the Vampire Lord, so keep that in mind. Lore of...

Re: DE Dragonlog
It looks to me like you're aiming for a dancy, avoidance type list that will wait until the opponent comes to you and then counterattack with your monsters. But your ranged threat is a little thin for this, and you're tied down by your slow-moving hydras, whose limited mobility will make it difficul...

Re: Chariot Prince 2400
regarding chumchu's ideas: I definitely prefer Longbow to Greatbow on your Prince. Those points are just better spent elsewhere (maybe even on a Giant Sword?). Chariot unit is interesting, though perhaps one model too large. Free reform will definitely help their maneuverability (but remember that t...

1000 points for Mighty Empires / Small Games
Hi, I'm considering a list for a Mighty Empires campaign. We would start at 1000 points and add upward, with the last few games going as high as 2500. The basic idea is that you start with a smaller version of your final list, and add things as you expand (a new lord, a new unit, some new magic item...

Re: sea guard reapers vs queens guard?
Let's do some quick math: S6 bolt vs. a HE Dragon (T6, 3+ armor). Assume long range and no cover (models of Large Height don't gain cover from infantry, etc). hit on 4+, wound on 4+, no save, d3 wounds = 0.5 wounds on average volley fire vs. HE Dragon: hit on 4+, wound on 6+, save on 5+ = 0.33 wound...

Re: 2400 pts Defensive MSU with spears
I love those units of 10 Swordmasters. Such a great choice in a list like this. So I have some experience playing lists that feel like this, I and can tell you that your troops are going to have to be spread way out across the entire deployment zone in order to have space to maneuver. And your bolt ...

Re: 2500 v Warriors - Nicene's Sky Sloops
Hm, declaring a Hold with my swordmasters on turn 3 may have been smarter. They had a decent chance to break and survive, and the Warriors block would then have had to overrun into the reavers. Then a combined charge of phoenix, dragons/chariot, and Knights from the rear would have been guaranteed.

Re: Nicene's Sky Sloops - 2500 v Warriors
Changes for the next game: I'm going to drop the Ancient Dragon down to a regular Dragon. It's partially because I almost feel guilty fielding the Ancient in friendly battles; he can win games almost by himself sometimes, or against certain armies. Also, he's a very feast-or-famine unit who might g...

Re: Core Infantry
I think an even more pertinent question is: would you ever take Archers over CG? 30" range is hardly any better than 24" with QTF, even as a pure shooting unit. And Coast Guard are so much more versatile. I think I could see Spears over CG in a pure rushdown list. A unit of 50 without the ...

Re: 2400 pts Defensive MSU with spears
I like the bows on the reavers. It's points well spent. I guess I understand the 27 points you're paying for the shooting on your BSB. Assuming the spears aren't marching, that's 3 shots hitting on 2+ or 3+, essentially with str4. That's cheaper and better than 3 more Queen's Guard, so I guess it ma...

Re: Nicene's Sky Sloops - new army concept for T9A, melee he
Well OK some thoughts about this battle: 1. This was my third list in T9A so I'm definitely at the stage of "refining my list and playstyle" while Mark, in his first game, is "messing around with all the new toys." Hence the ambushers (while perhaps not a bad unit in and of itsel...

Re: 2400 pts Defensive MSU with spears
Is your BSB going to be doing a lot of shooting? Drop the Ogre Blade and give her the incredible Greatbow to fully utilize the honour you're taking. I think she (and also the Queen's Guard) need mundane spears. This will make them very daunting vs. cavalry-type foes, which are the most likely enemie...

Re: Nicene's Sky Sloops - new army concept for T9A, melee he
OK, just finished a battle vs. the Warriors of the Dark Gods! The secondary objective was Breakthrough, where you score 500 bonus VP for having a scoring unit in your opponent's deployment zone at game end. Thought going in: Pros: My list should be well suited to face Warriors as I'm fielding units ...

Re: First drafted 9th list
I think WS7, distracting, 2+, 6++ is enough defense for him. This guy's supposed to be a hybrid; I think he should be treated as such. I guess Lucky Charm might be a worthwhile addition. He can also use magic as defense; half of his spells have some sort of defensive component to increase his surviv...
