Re: 3D printers

Of course. Mind, I've been saying this for years and always been shouted down. I'd almost bet my house that GW won't survive. (In fact, their current business practices would fit perfectly for a company that is itself betting it won't survive!). T'will however, be a glorious new age for the converte...

Re: Sooo... It looks like Asur in 2013.

I do recall Seredain's Prince chewing through an entire Bretonnian lance + 6 characters almost single-handedly. I well recal my Prince routing over half a Dwarven army on her own. She got a flank charge on turn three or so, and due to a combination of good rolls, bad panic checks and the Talisman o...

Re: Sooo... It looks like Asur in 2013.

On Gryphons... as things stand right now it's not a bad monster. It's fairly priced (as fairly as a seventh ed book can be in an 8th ed world) and does what it is supposed to. The only flaw is that the sun Dragon is just so balls-out better than it for a tiny difference in points. The Gryphon isn't ...

Re: The worst of the worst!

the standard of discipline I think there's a strong case for the Standard of Discipline being the worst of the worst. If it cost 55 points and worked as it does now, fine. If it didn't work on characters the current cost would be fine. As it is now, it simply should not exist in a game that also ha...

Re: GW's tendency to overnerf the best units from last book...

So from what you guys are saying we should be expecting PG to get a buff if anything? WL are the boss hogs evidently but SM are going for pennies on the dollar in IoB so they wouldn't want them at the forefront. Methinks you're thinking too short-term. I'd bet the farm that there's a new plastic Sw...

Re: Do you play against unpainted armies?

I've never fielded an unpainted model. At the risk of provoking kismet, I never will. However, If I held other people to that standard I'd have played maybe a dozen games ever . You have enough Fantasy players in your manor that you can afford to be picky. I deeply envy you that. I might well be as ...

Dame Hermione (my niece named her!) at the top is carrying a Phoenix Guard halberd. Her Standard Barer is flyi...

Re: What is your 2nd army and why ?

Brets for the fluff, and the painting more than anything. Also being able to get some peg knights, another warmachine, and some hordes would be nice. I'm seeing a lot of love for Bretonnia in this thread and they are my second army too. The fluff is fun and they are a joy to paint. Each knight is l...

Re: running a small tournament. Have questions about comp

For the love of God and England do not grant Look out Sir! saves against nuke spells (Dwellers, Transmutation etc). Those spells are all that stands between the game and invincible multi-character deathstars. All comp packs seem to do it and it baffles the imagination. I suppose they must like units...

Bitsy is a scholar and a gentleman. His reputation and ethics are bulletproof.

If you are having trouble communication it is certainly due to his apparent website issues. That's also almost certainly the reason why you may not have received your bits.

You make a number of good points, Grenic - not all of which I'm prepared to take on board. I consider the Banner of Discilpine to be the single most broken item in the whole game and will be cold in my grave before I include it in any list. Making the Spearmen different sizes is probably a good idea...

Sorry, i'm a bit of a novice #-o No bad thing at all. D'you play any other armies? How would you counter a castle with them? It may be that some part of that tactic is still useable with High Elves. Are there any other tactics which don't revolve around magic? You... Uh, you do know you're playing High Elves, right? More seriously, we win or lose the game in the Magic Phase. The Comet of Casandora (the F--king Comet of Casandora, as it's known to Dwarf players) is the sovereign remedy for castles. Bring back Honours. Dragon Mages come stock with Dragon Armour. Silver Helms to Core, Dragon Princes to Rare, 1-2 point reduction for each. Buff Dragons (They need stronger Breath Weapons, better Armour Saves and probably Ward Saves too). Make Shadow Warriors useable (AHW, point reduction, something...

I've never used Beasts with my Asur, but with my Brets I've found it really, really underwhelming (and given the Lore Attribute, it's better with Brets than Asur). It has two nigh worthless spells (Flock and Transformation). I suspect Flock exists solely to be swapped for the Signature spell, I cann...

Life and Light are the stand-out Lores if you're running Swordmasters, though as mentioned above, Shadow can keep them from being shot up so much. Personally, generally have a L2 shadow and a L2 or L4 Life, but I am thinking of switching out Shadow for Light.

Now, I speak as a huge Swordmaster fan, to the point that I have 56 of them and am seriously considering getting some more. And therein lies my success with them. Any army can kill a unit of 14 Swordmasters before they cross the table, most armies can kill two units of 14, there are a few that can k...

What do you guys recon the chances are of it staying in the new book, 100-1? With the lastest books only seeming to have 2 A4 sides of magic items, it seems unlikely. I cannot see this 10pts item staying somehow. Chances of it staying are pretty close to nill. Same with the Banner of the World Drag...

I'm with Curu - though honestly may army will be pretty much done with one more box of PG and a half-dozen Swordmasters from somewhere.
