Re: Best High Elf unit in history of the game?
Nod to the phoenix guard unit here, with Caradryan jammed in for added effect. Mix with a lore of beasts mage, and they quickl become a rock that people just can't get rid of. I was in an escalation tournament and despite the enemies they fought, and the ire they inspired in skaven, daemons, empire,...

Re: HE MSU v Chariot Spam WoC- Deployment
When you dual-flank charged the Gorebeast chariot, did the Gorebeast attack? Two wounds seems like a high output without the gorebeast attacking back (the critter pulling a chariot doesn't get to attack if the chariot is flank charged). If that was just the crew, I'm impressed by the output.

White Rabbit on a flying book - BSB on eagle
Walrus/Carpenter (Seaguard/Oysters with heros?) Or silverhelm bus would work just as well, with Oyster helms.
Dandelion chariot - White lion chariot
Caterpillar mage.

Re: How does the Reaver Bow work?
Nah, the weapon you use determines how you shoot. So, if a unit has a repeater crossbow on one model, a shortbow on another, blowpipes on a third, and a bolt thrower on the fourth... (yeah, it's a weird unit.) Repeater crossbow would shoot at Str 4 multi shot, 24 inches. Shortbow would be 24 inches....

Re: Feelings about the new book
My first thoughts on Teclis were that he had a huge nerf. But able to pick one spell of your choice from each lore... is crazy. You can really build some of those devestating comboes that you'd otherwise really have to tweak your deck to get to. Miasma, Purple Sun, Throne of Vines (MUWAHAHAHAH), Com...

Re: MSU (infantry) style Elves with new book?
I may build 10x Lion cubes with a spare guy in the back rank. Sword masters tend to be better in 1x5 (or 1x7) lines anyway. And Phoenix guard are still best in fully ranked units (though they only got better this edition, as they kept re-rolls, and gained the extra rank of damage). Cheap checkboard ...

Re: Silver Helms in the Lance Formation
This formation does also provide a neat strategy - Take nine silver helms, charge through an enemy force to a secondary rank target, win combat, and combat reform to 9 wide, blocking the movement up for their turn. Combat reforms dont' need to be symmetrical (right? <.<) So you could unload the two ...

Re: New release the 90% confirmed Many Many new updates Page1
A cavalry prince with the reaver bow will be devastating now... Cavalry prince won't be able to march and shoot, so it limits the use (from my experience). In addition, reaver bow seems to have multiple shot rule, not just 3 shots, so that's another -1 modifier, and I read somewhere it's only a +1 ...

Str 6 without re-rolls vs Str 5 against T3 models with 1+ AS = Even. In almost every other way, Str 6 is better in ever situation, until you get to 5+ AS. So unless it's just RnF fodder, the Str 6 wins, even without re-roll. *edit* Leaping Sword and Giant's Blade are both very nice options for our c...

BS 7 prince, nice. So I moved, and you're in a building? I guess I hit on 3s. Wait. It's a minus to hit modifier, right? Not a minus to Ballistic Skill. So normally hitting on 2's you'd be at -3 to hit, meaning hitting on 5's. BS 7 hits on a 0+, with 1's always missing. Just like an AS 1+, with a -...

I've been I staunch supporter of Phoenix Guard through 8th edition. I've run something of a bus with great success (20, with mage, bsb, and hero), I've used them as units that carry a single hero, I've had them as assault forces. They're great. With the news that they might be unbreakable, I was kin...

Re: Best up to 40 pt Item?
Golden crown, Loremaster Cloak, Sacred Incense on the Cavalry prince.
This leaves you with options if you get a low roll (Loec or Trickster), or buffing the mage with better gear with a high roll.
Did you have any other characters?
Also, can the item go on a champion instead of a character?

I'm perfectly content with MC tools in the High Elf tool box. It'll be interesting, it'll be another fun item to use, and as I've found with High Elves more so then any other race I've played with, tools are really added flavor to a unique and tactical play style that is really missing from other ar...

It's not a re-roll in the standard sense. If you get a result you can't implement, you roll again.
So yes, the current rules for the warshrine allow you to keep going.

High Elves are definitely not a list you can just sit back and win games with, and I really can't see how defensive play ever wins games with high elves. We're so incredibly vulnerable to ranged damage it's silly, especially with the cost. What point level are they playing at? What units do they use...

You could always go Alith'anar, prince with Seafarer bow, in a unit of shadow warriors. That's -2 to be hit (Alith'anar and the skirmishing rule), and some serious double shot bolt thrower action (with stand and shoot option). With scouting you'll have some nice flank shot options early on, and you ...

Vanguard armies get full points for models killed, but only reward points for full units being killed on their side. Games are 6 turns long, starting with the end of Turn 3, roll a d6. If d6+Turns > 8, game ends. Characters, banners, and generals killed by the vanguard army reward double points. Tie...
