Re: Prince on Star Dragon to Fight Chaos Lord on Dragon

This is a tough fight! Personally I would kill the dragon first. The dragon is harder for the rest of your army to deal with and is easier to kill. This will also generate more combat res. for you so you could run down the Chaos Lord (maybe). As for kit, I would go Giant Blade and some sort of armou...

Maybe have Teclis sacrifice himself to release Caledor? Then you get rid of the two mages problem.

Re: I bet no one remembers me.

Hey all. I still check in from time to time. No games played on my end for a long while with work and all though... I did try KoW recently. Enjoyed it. No plans to get back into Fantasy gaming in a big way though.

Re: Request for IT Advice Ahead of Black Friday

Agreed with the above posters. I think more or less any average laptop you get should meet your requirements. SSD is also a good choice. My only advice would be to check the number of ports, etc as a lot of the newer laptops are cutting down to just a couple of USB ports (or less!).

You can also try mixing your own paints! Greens, blues and white for these colors I would think.

I enjoyed it too. Not sure how I feel about the young age for the inquisitor though. I always imagined them as crust old dudes. That guy seems more like a brash guardsman or something.

The scheme (I think) you are referring to is one that is in the 'How to Paint' series of GW books. I would advise checking there for the actual colors and maybe even some of the methods they used.

My honest opinion would be to sell it and convert a mini that is more easy to work with - metal is a pig for 'minor' work and always takes longer than you think.

Re: What do you think is better - WH:8th Ed or WFB:T9A?

Have you stuck with 8th but dabbled in 9th? I prefer 8th but I don't think either fixes the problems of WFB - too complex and convoluted in terms of rules and too much for a newbie to take on. But John, newbies have been picking this game up for 33 years, it's been vastly successful! Are you saying...

Re: 9th Age Sustainability

I can't see this (or KoW) for that matter attracting too many new players. Try out a game like x-wing and see how simple yet tactically deep it is and you'll see why new players aren't really coming to games like WFB any more.

I would probably recommend waiting anyway - they are yet to release two of the playable races (marines + surprise faction) and there are still a fair few bugs to be ironed out. Overall I like it a lot though.

It is actually surprisingly true to the game. Obviously the implementation of everything is slightly different but I like it. Ships have all been translated very well as well as maneuvers like 'burn retros', 'reload', etc. I will warn you though the learning curve is steep!

Get into CC quickly and chop them up. Horsemen + flyers for the win. Done! An eagle should be able to hold off the archers for a turn maybe too.

I would suggest you measure a few other bases. As I make (made) my own movement trays, I measured a lot of different bases. It is rare to find ones that are exactly correct in terms of size.
