Re: Kings of War Tournament, 2000 pts, Legions of the Abyss

I think it is lack of experience. As you said, it is hard, as it should be, but not impossible. There are a lot more movement limitations to KoW than there is in WFB, and its much more rewarding if you pull it off due to the 2x or 3x attacks. Your opponent is going to be that much more invested in p...

Re: Kings of War Tournament, 2000 pts, Legions of the Abyss

@ Swordmaster I rebased the army largely because I was unhappy with the basing, and also because I repainted quite a bit of it. The bigger bases weren't an issue in transport. I liked that it allowed for more scenic bases. For my army it was unfortunately necessary. Abyssals are on 20mm bases, while...

Re: Monthly Painting Challenge - May 2015

Gonna be a big month: 2 ETC tournaments this month, one is team, one singles. Consequently, I need to paint the rest of my ETC army by the 15th, and do a display board. Left to paint: 9 Plague Drones 9 Blight Kings 1 Bloodthirster I also have to touch up 15 furies of khorne. They are mostly finished...

Re: Total war Warhammer

Total War games have rarely sucked. In fact, I have enjoyed every single one of them. They constantly release patches to change balance issues as well, which will be a welcome change to the warhammer world. They also have never had a game with only 4 factions. I can almost guarantee that the 4 facti...

Re: How to paint large flat surfaces like...

Woah that model is amazing! For that, painting designs like that, I'd probably start attacking it using the layer method and using very VERY thin paint. I am not sure how I would go about wet blending that, though I guess it would be possible. You would just need to have a large number of colors goi...

Re: How to paint large flat surfaces like...

Hey hey man! For large flat areas, there are a few ways you can go without using an airbrush. Can you get your hands on any paint retardant? If you can, you can always wet blend it. Have 3 colors active at a time with drying retardant in each paint splotch on your pallet, then just blend away. Nice ...

Re: Paperclips and Magnets

I'm a fan of pinning the feet of my models during assembly, then putting them on cork hand holds while painting. I then can use the pin to attach them to bases. There are a few reasons I attack it this way. 1) Using corks as a hand hold means you don't have to touch your model while painting. This m...

Hey Swordmaster! Thanks, yeah it was pretty one sided, but as I said, I think it was a terrible match up for him. Everything down to my army having strength 4 killing blow is just bad news bears for his Brets.

Game 2 is now up!!

Re: ETC Draft Zero

In terms of Swedish, I think that is the difference, at least for the US Masters. Nothing is "banned," and as a result, all regions can take lists they are comfortable with, with minor changes, and fit the system. NE can take ETC-similar lists and get somewhere between a 8-12 (which is whe...

Re: NOVA Open Tournament Game 2 up!

Hey swordmaster! Yeah, I made some mistakes in this game. He didn't get doom and darkness, but still I shouldn't have deployed such a tempting target away from my BSB. It was a mistake, and once that happened I felt out of the game completely. I feel I did an ok job preserving points after that, and...

Re: NOVA Open Tournament Game 2 up!

@ SpellArcher: Where the mages were deployed depended on the game. Some games the high mage went in the swordmasters, but in other games both characters sat in the lions. The loremaster generally went into the lions for protection. @Swordmaster: YUP! Game up now! Link to Blog (Video Embedded) Youtub...

Hey Hey Swordmaster!!! 1) Sabertusks cannot use general's inspiring presence or BSB's hold your ground. It's a special rule for sabertusks called "Their Master's Voice." Its one of the few disadvantages the sabertusks have. 2) You mean from the ironguts? I did consider it but I was REALLY ...

Re: I never thought I'd say this but..

I feel you are slightly off with the analysis of how hard the comp is for various armies (possibly due to unfamiliarity with the comp system in general). You know what you are talking about in terms of list design, however the results disagree with you. HE comp seems harsh, but they actually perform...

Re: Modeling Fur with Greenstuff

About tools, the army builder has a starter set of 3 separate 2-sided tools. It offers a nice variety of shapes and tools you can use, and is probably far more than you will use at first. Even when I have tried (rather unsuccessfully) at sculpting entire minis, I found I had enough tool diversity wi...

Re: Modeling Fur with Greenstuff

There are two ways to do this, but first a note on how to actually go about sculpting: I find, personally, its easier to do this in 2 stages. 1) get really thin greenstuff and sculpt it into the shape you desire (but smaller). Flatten the green stuff as thin as you can get it, cut the cloak from thi...
