Re: Is Tyrion even THAT bad?
The discussion about bases is imho completly senseless. In a non-combatative enviroment you can base him on anything you want, and in a competetive enviroment he is a. forbidden, as he is a specal character or b. normed to a certain base size (which will always be normed by some Organisator). One of...

Re: How do you protect your BSB?
Forgive me my ignorance, my book has been parked at my Club for several months now. But isnt there an unspecified armor item that gives you a 5+ AS and can therefor be combined with mundane armor? Add in a shiled and you are at 2+ AS. Some additional item and you should be pretty much to a Standard ...

Re: Do We Need Dispel Scrolls With A Book AM?
Depends on the enemies spell selection.
If the enemies army has two killer spells, then you simply just cannot plan your game so far ahead that you can be sure not to Need a dispell scroll.
What are you going to do with a BoH if you face two Grey prophets who just rolled 5-5 for power dice?

How is the verdict of the noble on Griffon? Not the most competetive of choices, but also not the most expensive. The fire phoenix is not a melee Monster, and can do more damage (to certain enemies), if he does not get into CC. The griffon IS a CC Monster, and if played correctly, not a bad one. As...

I dont think that we Need to go back to why high Magic is amazing. A BoH in combination with high Magic is one of the most save and reliable things in WHFB (as Long as you dont rely on devastating a whole army with str 10 shots out of the mages rear in a single round). imho, a mexican stand off with a WE army is a risky Thing to do. You Need advantages by Units, Magic and Terrain to make sure this works. WE Shooting is really really good and outgunning them is not easy. WEs tend to fight an upwards battle against armor, so DragonS, dragonprinces and White Lions te...

Re: So... How's the new book?
Gotta agree with paricidas. Moreover, depending on the use the book actually helps a level 2. The rerolls actually means you need to spend less dice on your spells. On a medium-decent magic phase (which you needed anyway with the BoS, a 2/2+2 magic phase meant my main caster was using all the dice ...

Re: So... How's the new book?
The big limiting factor is extra dice. If you roll low on winds of magic, even the book is not going to help you. Rod Sorry, but this is just not true. Low Power dice means low dispell dice, and with the BoH you often have the edge over your opponets dispell abilities because you can reroll that da...

Infantery Option for a tank:
shield, heavy armor, shadow armor, dawnstone: 2+ rerollable AS
Exchange the heavy armor with a dragonarmor and add a high mage to the mix, and the BSB becomes quite a hard nut to crack.

Re: Another player's analysis of units (new-spells and items)
A lonely draon mage may very well get a 1/10 Rating in a "normal" army. But as soon as you pair him with a prince on Dragon, he suddenly gets some uses. There is no longer a lvl 4 with BoH that sucks dry the whole power dice pool, and the presence of a much mightier foe makes him immune to...

Shouldn't the Gem of Sunfire's rule overrule the general rules, as it is from an Army Book? Not only should it, but it does. Dragon mage comes with the ability to buy magic armor, the best spell in the lore of fire and *cough* with a dragon. 1/10? I dont think so... The ability to reform befor the charge will normaly rise the potential number of attacks of WL and not decrase it. In theory, it will also make any unit almos...

This Problem is much much more complicated than some people here suggest. If you want to argue with him: Stomp attacks are always distributed like Shooting, so the stomps always hit the regular infantery and not the chars in the infantery unit. With some exceptions: -the number of models in the unit...

Get rid of the seguard.
Fill the core with archers, silverhelms or reavers until you get to 25%.
Get rid of the charrios.
Get rid of 1-2 Units of sisters.
Buy a decent sized unit of PG with razor banner or WL with banner of the world dragon.

Of course the 40 WLs have a big "HIT ME ABY; ONE MORE TIME" written on their battle banner. But hit them exactly with what? Against mundane Shooting, they have a 3+ armor save and probably some Kind of protection from the Magic Phase (obviously not in round one, if you dont get first turn)...

Skirmishers have no ranks and therefor cannot disrupt flanks. MR stacks with wards but not with MR, wards dont stack with wards, unless they come from high Magic or tzeench-marks. The shadow armor is NO armor (its just an item in the category "Magic armor") and can be combined with mundane...
