Re: Thoughts on Dragon Princes
Has anyone tried the Dragon Princes against other heavy cavalry? With I5, Elven Reflexes and Counter-Charge they have a good chance of striking before most other equivalent units even if charged (the exceptions being Cold One Knights and Chaos Knights of Slaanesh, I believe), and with two attacks S...

Re: Various Character builds?
States that elven honours only apply to the elf, not their mount.
Chracian hunter gives move through cover so he'd get the benefit on foot but not when mounted

Re: 1500pts Griffon list... thoughts?
Nice list, I always love to see Griffons taking flight. I'm curious about the flying carpet for the Archmage. Other than points (which are tight especially at 1500), is there a reason not to take an eagle instead? Only thing I can think of would be the eagle makes you a monstrous creature Vs being ...

Re: New FAQs
The other big one that got resolved was HE mages wearing armour: High Elf Realms Q: Can a Wizard with the Warden of Saphery Elven Honour purchase magic armour? A: No. Seems pretty clear. However, they doubled down on any normal armour = any magic armour since they added the same rule that was previ...

Re: Tournament 1999pt
Yeah, magic resistance is better than ward save Vs magic missiles anyway, if you get hit with a good shot from ruby ring your unit is probably shredded so youre probably better off making the bound spell less likely to go off in the first place (or act as a deterrent to choosing them as a target at ...

Re: Various Character builds?
Worth noting that bedazzling helm now restricted to infantry and cavalry in the latest faq. Probably hurts us less given that we have dragon helm to get to 2+ saves but if you were using it on a dragon/chariot mounted prince/noble you'll need to change your build

Re: Drain magic - useless?
I'll say this for Drain Magic, it has caused a couple of my opponents to miscast the dispel attempt in their conjuration phase a couple of times, once nullifying their casting for the rest of their turn. I wouldn't say it's useless either, it just requires more advantageous situations to use effect...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports
Why are the DPs a waste of points? Do you mean the unit is too big? I can see some logic in that. Yeah, you're paying a huge chunk of points for a rank bonus that's not doing much else. Splitting them into two smaller units would be better as you still get a rank bonus and you get two lots of comba...

Re: Drain magic - useless?
Thanks for the replies - really appreciate it! It is shame the spell isn't better as I find it very high elvish  . A bit in the same vein is also Ithilmar weapons, which also seems strange that it only works with a non-magical hand weapon (so no halberd or great weapons either).. WHen would y...

Re: Big problems vs Khemri
Khemri came out very strong in the most recent published tournament data. They had a win rate above 60% which didn't really drop much when comp was factored in. They're in a strong point mechanically but as others have said, shooting them is pointless, they'll regen quicker than you can kill them an...

Re: Drain magic - useless?
Hi all, Good to see all the discussions going again! :D . So what are peoples opinion about Drain magic? When I first read it I was really excited, but now that I understand it is a remains in play spell, it essentially gives the opponent two dispel attempts, which significantly lower my enthusiasm...

Cool. I'm tempted to go chracian hunter, white lion chariot. Gets the axe for free which saves points for protective kit. first charge, close order, impact hits and all the other goodies seem fun

Favourite BSB builds?
Not used one much in our slow grow as we've been at sub 1250pts. Now we're playing bigger games i'm interested in seeing what you guys have been running.
I saw a few folk talking about griffon BSB, chariot bsb etc in the early days post launch, people run them much now?

I wouldn't use blood of caledor on the characters if I were you. They're too valuable to your game plan to risk to an early failed test into some chaff imho

Re: Silver Helms Discussion
I think they seem decent, they're reasonably durable, not too expensive and can hit reasonably hard. They're going to need a lot of support when dealing with protracted combats as they're not going to have much static combat Res so either don't put them into big blocks or support them with some rank...

I think with the rampaging banner they're great. A lot of the time they're going to want to charge something anyway, and the rampaging banner helps a lot for those long bombs if you don't want to charge chaff units

Game has only been out a couple of months. Noone has enough data anywhere to make a comp pack as yet. This will not "fix" the game, merely break it in different ways

Haven't got an account for image hosting anymore I'm afraid. Wasn't brave enough to do the lumineth spears as they have absolutely huge pikes that need a lot of work to rank up but I've seen other folk do that work and rank them up too.

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
I think 8th ed did hold up enough for tournaments. My issue is the whole "gentlemen's game" aspect, that's a very nebulous concept. If you're playing with the same group of friends who you know well, it's fine; you understand each other, what you're both looking for from the game, how com...

Dragon mages definitely can, blood of caledor mages definitely can. The others definitely can't or are ambiguous and will need discussion with opponent in lieu of an official faq
