Nachri was tired. They had been fighting constantly for 2 days. From the moment the hordes of haargoth broke trough the wall at the north west cliff, countless lives were lost. Almost his entire army had vanquished. Only thanks to the intervention of a men he and his guard were still living. But most of the men lay dead now too. The chaos creatures kept coming. Nachri drew his magical blade once more, they would not get past the barricades. A hornblew signaled the assault of the chaos creatures.
Countless ranks of marauders climbed the rubble of the wall. Chaos knights raced towards the barricade on the main road, where Nachri and his eagle’s phalanx were standing proud amongst the ruins. The first rank of the eagle’s phalanx leveled their spears and the second rank loosed their bowstrings. Nachri saw the arrows flying. Many were being deflected by the chaos armour, but some hit home. A chaos steed fell on the ground, crushing his rider and a second horse fell over this horse. Near the alleys, the berserking warriors were moving between the houses in an attempt to outflank the elfs, only to be halted by the remenants of the luftberg spearmen. Halberdiers jumped of the rooftops, landing between the chaos warriors where they started to drive their halberds in the backs of the chaos warriors. Nachri looked forward again, suddenly the knights were upon them.
Protected by the barricades, the phoenix phalanx managed to withstand the charge of the chaos knights. Spears were smashed aside by the shields of the chaos knights, large weapons cut trough elf and armour alike. Nachri quickly dodged a blow from a chaos knight, then he trusted his weapon forward, the bright runes were shining as the blade pierced the knights armour. Suddenly nachri sax something riding with high speed towards the barricades. Moments later he realised it was a chaos chariot. He hit the barricade, destroying him but he kept going. With a loud chrash it hit the elven regiment, killing a dozen of elfs on the impact, but the son of nachri fired 2 arrows and they hit the eyes of the steed. With a noise of splintering wood the chariot hit a house and was destroyed as a part of the house collapsed upon him. More chariots were coming, they rode into the alleys, crushing the flank protection. Chaos warriors were closing on the elves from behind. Soon the elves were surrounded.
Suddenly the men captian maxentius came with his dismounted knights of the order of the golden anvil. They marched between the elves and the chaos warrior, protecting the elves rear. The last forces of good were pushed back in a defencive circle. But the fact they were still holding their positions was stopping the chaos advance further into middenheim. Suddenly a dark cloud was covering the sun
