| This is how you make a winter gaming board. |

These are Solimate boards which are blue-ish uretanium boards. It's quite expensive but it's light, sturdy and easy to work. Use 3cm thick, 240 cm long and 60cm wide boards. When you cut it in two you get two 60cm * 120cm boards and three boards of this size make a 180cm * 120cm board which is about 72" * 48".
So, you now have three pieces sized 60cm * 120cm.
Heat the surface of the boards with some heater thing. When the surface melts it turns into darker blue and makes the board look more natural. When you do this you should bend the board a little. This is because the board tends to get twisted. If it gets twisted, it's sturdy enough for you to bend it back (but it's hard and time-consuming).
Don't heat the whole surface but make stripe-ish areas instead. This makes a better result, the board looks abit comic-ish but suits miniature play.
Spray white paint lightly to the bits of the board that were NOT heated.
Ready pieces should look something like this.
Here's a piece in play-use with some winter-themed scenery. |
