| Step-by-Step Guide to Painting a High Elf Swordmaster |
| by ekxw |
Welcome. In this article, I will be covering how to paint a High Elf swordmaster in my personal colour scheme, which does not include any metals – instead, he is painted as if he comes from Caledor.
Materials Required:
A paintbrush
PVA glue, or alternative
The following Citadel paints:
Chaos Black
Graveyard Earth
Skull White
Dwarf Flesh
Boltgun Metal
Red Gore
Blood Red
Blazing Orange
Burnished Gold
Brown Ink
Chestnut Ink
Elf Flesh
Dark Angels Green
Goblin Green
Golden Yellow.
Step-by-Step Guide:
1.) Base coat the model with Chaos Black.
2.) Paint the tunic, and the parts that will be gold using graveyard earth.
Paint the face with dwarf flesh.
Paint the sword with boltgun metal.
Paint the scales, the gauntlets and the helmet white.
3.) Now to paint the scalemale, helmet, and other parts that will be red later on. White is used as red does not cover will over black.
Paint the scales in white; try not to get any white in the gaps between them.
Now paint the individual scales with red gore.
Next, paint the lower half of each scale with blood red.
Finally, paint the lowest part of each sclae with blazing orange.
4.) Paint the to-be gold parts with a mixture of burnished gold and graveyard earth.
5.) Mix brown ink with chestnut ink, adding a drop of water. Apply this wash over the golden parts of the minaiture, the face, and the robe, taking care to not get any on the armour.
6.) Highlight the robe with brown, leaving the darker brown in the recesses.
7.) Mix white and brown together for the second highlight.
8.) Continue adding white to the mix, and highlight again.
9.) Add a final highlight with pure white, with a drop of water to blend it.
10.) Highlight the golden parts of the model with a mix of burnished gold, gravetard earth and a touch of white.
11.) Paint the prominent parts of the face with dwarf flesh.
12.) Apply the first highlight of a mixture of elf and dwarf flesh.
13.) Finish off with a pure elf flesh highlight. Paint the lips with a mix of bloos red and dwarf flesh.
14.) Paint the gems by referring to my Step-By-Step to Painting Gems guide.
Editor's note: Article currently not available. The Library staff apologise for any inconvenience caused.
15.) Paint the eyes as follows:
Paint the eye socket black
Apply a small dot of white to one side of the eye socket
Paint another dot of white to the other side leaving some black showing inbetween.
16.) Paint the plume with dark angels green, and the hair with skull white.
17.) Cover the white with a golden yellow/brown mix, and paint small lines in the plume with goblin green.
18.) Highlight the hair with golden yellow, and paint fine lines of a goblin green/yellow mixture on the plume.
19.) Paint the base goblin green.
20.) Apply static grass using PVA.
Voila; one beautiful swordmaster!
