Bone Painting Guide

Step by step of painting bone without using inks.

I don't have a skeleton so I will use the crest with a skull from the skeleton shields because it’s the same.

What we will need:

Leather brown, chaos black, skull white

Step 1) Paint the skull with chaos black. Remove the excess with your painting cloth. It should look like this:



You can still see the grey plastic from the model. The black adds shadows to it.

Step 2) Paint a layer of brown without covering the black areas. It should look like this:



Step 3) Paint the first highlights with brown + white. Beware of painting too much of this colour, since we are making highlights. Use your paint brush carefully.



You can see that the black is still visible and in the side we can see the brown highlights.

Step 4) Add more white to the mix of brown + white and apply the second layer of highlights. It should look like this :



Step 5) Add the last highlights in the raised areas with skull white and the skull, skeleton, or whatever it was, is done.
