Lothern Seaguards - Supporting attacks

#1 Post by Lagast »

Hi everyone,

Question about Lothern Seaguard and their supporting attacks.
Martial prowess army special rule states that the seaguard can fight in a extra rank. So if I go 5 wide, I have 10A (no charge, no champion, no wounds yet...)
However their Thrusting spears also mention they can make a supporting attack. Do I get a thirth rank fighting, meaning potential 15A.
I'm questioning this, because the rulebook clearly says that a model performing a supporting attack should be in base contact with a model from the fighting (front?) rank.
Or does a rank with supporting attack, again count as a fighting rank?

I'd love to see your opinions on this topic.

Where does it say that?

Forces of good book pg. 185 Army Special Rules - Martial Prowess "A unit with this special rule can make supporting attacks to it's flank or rear, as well to it's front"

However, I misunderstood this line. It says it CAN not it is able.
So the thrusting spear gives the supporting attack. Which I can use to the flank, rear as well tot it's front.
