Lovely stuff!

:)

There's something unsettling about that armour. I remember seeing the flick, a friend of mine described it as 'a lousy movie but a great soft porn film'.

Finished with the ratbomination ... kinda wish I played Skaven so I could proxy it as a HPA.
Not entirely happy with the way the white blended on some of the spikes, but I think I was getting tired and just wanted to finish it off. Doubt I'll go back and try to touch it up, though, as there are about 40 survivors to paint and a massive amount of zombies and zombie variants to paint up.

Oh, and still have to pull out my wood elves and assemble/paint them. And the high elves need some coloration.

Quick update:

I washed the spikes with a flesh wash to tone down the intense white ... looks much better. Also hit up the boils with another wash of red to give them an angrier, more infected look. After I varnish it, I think I'm going to go over them with Nurgle Rot technical

Thanks for the feedback!

Managed to get another one done ... "Montalban" (aka - Sir Robin of Monty Python fame)

Image

Don't know how I feel about the shading on the white tabard ... wondering if grey might have been better? But after spending all the time on the checkered pattern, I was ready to be done with the figure. I'm sure glad I never went with a Brettonian army, although the heraldry is kind of fun to paint!

They're looking good. The detailing on Montalban is very nice. I can imagine it must have taken a while to finish it.

I have a few more figures painted up.

Wolf-abomination from the Wolfsburg expansion:

For those who read White Dwarf back in the 80s, this will be a familiar face. I had to get him! Thrud the Barbarian (from the Carl Critchlow guest artist box):

I also have another of the Monty Python crew painted up, but no pictures yet.

I've seen about 5 different versions. This one is the newest of the sculpts, apparently done by Carl Critchlow - along with Black Currant, the necromancer To-Me-Ku-Pa, and a valkyrie looking figure named Persephone (which I don't recall from the comics, but the other 2 I do).

Always interested in seeing other figures, especially Thrud!

I probably have fallen behind on posting up painting stuff, but I've gotten all distracted with all sorts of stuff.

I picked up one of the new Sylvaneth branchwyches to use with my wood elf army (or, in case I decide to play AoS, an addition to a Sylvaneth force- 2 treemen and a bunch of dryads already). I was pretty pleased with the sculpt, and I still need to finish the base, but here it is (tabletop standard, nothing fancy).

Solid paint job.

There's something a bit scary about the Sylvaneth range.

Been working on various projects (no, seriously. I have at least a half dozen models in various stages of completion on my workbench). Here's one thing that I finished up and a teaser of the next project I'm starting (as if I needed another start).

There is always a next project / model to paint ;)

Starting to look nice. I like the stairs. Great for skirmish style games. The forrest reminds me that I have to start painting my own as well. Has been lying on the to-do pile for 2 years now I think... I'll get to it. Someday.

Unfortunately, my pile of "next project" is piling up faster than I can get through it. As much as I would love it, I don't want to see the new Blood Bowl release under the tree come Xmas ... means more figures to paint!

Made a little more progress today with the woods. I decided to put no leaves (or very few) on the trees and go with a more "winter/dead forest" look. Got the trees primed. Got the rocks painted, washed, and drybrushed and am working on the skulls (seriously ... skulls everywhere with GW). Still not completely happy with the rocks, might try and eke out more with them by using additional colors/washes. I'm thinking Athonian Camoshade might give it a greenish brown look, like lichen or moss.

I fixed that by taking a wife who keeps asking why I need more new models while I still have unpainted / unassembled ones lying around. ;) She has a point though. So I try to buy as few models as possible. which means I'm slowly getting through my backlog and that I have managed to get more models done then I have in progress / in box.

The rocks can indeed use another highlight or layer. They look a bit flat now. Perhaps I would give them a black wash to accentuate the shadows recesses , reapply the base layers and then give it a lighter grey highlight.

My wife keeps saying the same thing. I agree with her, and then I see a Space Ork fighta-bomma on sale for 60% off while Xmas shopping on black Friday. Then GW makes a new SoB sculpt (and plastic models coming in 2017 ... oi!).

I think I messed up with the rocks initially. Usually with rocks/stone, I do a charcoal grey or eshin grey first, and then build up to lighter colors. This time I started with Dawnstone, which is entirely too light to use as a base color. There's a bit more that I need to go back and fix: last night I was trying to get a textured bark effect on the larger logs by using Agrellan Earth (the crackle technical) and either my pot has gone bad, I applied it too thinly, or it's just a wonky technical to work with (or some combination thereof). The end result? I have tan logs. So, those will have to just be redone. Oh well, it's a learning process.

Pretty much mostly done with the base of the woods. Just need to add some flock to it and it should be good to go. Haven't done more to the trees than prime them.
