Greetings Maestras and Maestros.
I have a problem: I am using a color scheme relatively close to the actual Edition for my high elves. Much blue etc. Works like a charm and matches my preferations.
I am using a mix of Products: Basecoat, Colours and Inks from Vallejo, Washes from GW and some extra colors from GW filled into the Vallejo Dropper Bottles. So i have no predjudices pro or against any company. I just use what i feel its best.
BUT: My greatest Problem ist the "Glacier Blue" from Vallejo:

I really like the light blue tone. It's almost white-ish, but without the "hey, you missed a spot while painting"-feeling.
I have no idea, how to shade that color. Using nulnoil or nightshade i only get a "dirty" look. I tried painting some grey tones in the ravishes but i never was happy with it eiter.
I am looking for a very light shade. One, you maybe could use for a white color, too. Can you guys maybe hint me into the right direction? Or another technique?
Thanks in advance.
Casi
P.s.: I am from Germany, so please excuse possible errors.

Re: How to shade Vallejo Glacier Blue?
I would try working up from Citadel "the fang". It used to be called shadow grey which is exactly what it is - the color of shadow and one of my new favourite colors

So far I have used it to mix with spacewolves grey and white for shading white cloth and with black to create a slightly bluish black coat for my generals black horse. Its been working excellent for both.

That seems to be exactly the color i need. I wonder why i always missed it.
Thank you very much. Do you have an advise for a wash too, maybe? For shading the ravishes?

I am afraid not. I never wash my whites - seems to always end up bad.Casazzo wrote:Thank you very much. Do you have an advise for a wash too, maybe? For shading the ravishes?

How did you do the white trousers there? That's exactly, how i would like it.

You can use the citadel paint system to get that look, just ignore the blue wash, and start with a darker grey
I saw Karaz-a-Karak...and then I burned it to the ground.

Re: How to shade Vallejo Glacier Blue?
I've actually used this color extensively. The color you want is Vallejo Model Color Azure.
Glacier blue has a distinct white-blue with a touch a purple in there. Azure is definitely the best bet for a shade color.
However, the way I would apply it is as follows.
1) Paint entire area azure.
2) highlight with azure and glacier mixed 1/1
3) highlight with azure and glacier mixed with Vallejo Model Color Silvergrey 1/1/1
4) hightlight pure glacier
