Other then the already mentioned sleeve (and the purple) that's really amazing. The banner is just nuts.

Thanks for your opinion, next time I'll try to paint the freehand less cartoon-ish, well, in the end, it's always good to practice with some freehands :)

My army stands proudly with its new battle standard bearer and I think I'll focus on my dragon soon, he needs a lot of attention
However, I can't wait untill May to see if we are getting Drake riders or not

I really like the dragon, I really do. Why should everything be grim and gloomy?

I hope they will really release them, good models as well as good rules, maybe I will spend again some money on new high elves

Hey Galharen, is it possible to get an explanation on how you did the eyes? I know its basic layering and glazing but i'd love a solid explanation.

Thanks.

Incredible work as always! It's awesome to see how you've 'broken up' some of the armour plates for the NMM look, fantastic reference for anyone that wants to learn how/where to highlight! Thanks!

I don't know if anybody of you has ever wondered how my first minis ever looked like, but now I will share with you this piece of history:D
I've got a feeling that swordmasters will be very effective in new book, so during painting my new archers I decided to try if is it possible to bring my old swordies to life.

Below you can see how they look like, painted many years ago xD
I just repainted quickly the white parts into yellow to achieve my army's color scheme and just highlighted a bit blues.
I'm not going to spend a lot of time with them, maybe just some shading and that's it.
And of course the bases, these were my first experiment, as you can see, I will change them to my army's theme as well.

Piece of history :D

They are still a very good tabletop quality. Do you paint also other things beside minis? I actually like the bases, but they would probably look a little out of place with the rest of your army.

Not really, I paint only minis, mainly high elves besides comission jobs.
I've got 20 those swordmasters, I don't have time to paint them again in better quality, so after few touches they will have to do their job without nmm swords;p
But when new models come, I would like to paint a small unit of 7 swords in NMM :)

At last, I convinced myself to start painting my dragon, it's a huge challenge because I don't have a patience for such big models, but so far it's going cool. :)
Dragon will be of course in my blue-yellow color scheme, but also with lots of reds, as I discovered that the red paint combines the colors together somehow on my models (and I like blood-red color  )
I think the era of dragons is coming in mai, so it will be a perfect addition to my army, I can't wait to see it finished.

Here is the general idea, just basic colors:
Image

A painted very quickly scales on the tail and right leg to see how it will all work together and I was satisfied:

In the nicest possible way, this is really annoying. Because it makes me want to paint mine now haha. I think that dragon is gonna come out brilliantly. The wings especially are amazing, airbrush? Did painting the dragon on the the standard make you want to paint this, or did you decide that it just needed doing? I find with the big models like that I loose impetous about halfway through (eg my IOB griffon). I hope you dont, good luck with it and I eagerly await updates.

Yes, basic colors were done with airbrush, I haven't done anything with skin so far, I just painted scales to see how the colors work together.
Well, honestly, I've got better models to paint which make me more fun and pleasure, but I think it is needed to be done:)
I love playing with dragon (favourite 6ed's tactic - dragons rush;p) and as I want to participate in some tournaments after new book arrives, I think I will need a dragon :D

With the new army book, dragons are invisible to protect against cannon. ;)

I know that this update brings not many, but I wanted just to show you on what I'm working atm.
How it will look like, we will see later, after I'll deal with the skin and so on, I hope it'll be awesome on the battlefield. :D

I cant wait for your next picture update, your work really is an inspiration, especially with models like the BSB and dragon. They are the sort of models everyone wants to do well and make stand out, and your work really gets the creative juices flowing.

Although I still cant decide what colour to do mine.

Just wondering, were there supposed to be any pictures in the last two updates? Cause if there are, they haven't been showing up! Just letting you know, would hate for your incredible work to be lost in the interwebs :D

No photo-update unfortunately, as I don't have much time for painting. The only one what I've made are scales, but nothing worth taking photo so far. But dragon starts to look promising :)

Ok, I would like to share with you my opinion about new models range.
I will start from shadow warriors, as I like them the most from this wave.
Image
Nice new models, dynamic, really worth considering buying them. I hope the rumours are true and they will be in Core.

I think those magic archers will be a dual kit with SW, I'm almost sure. The legs and bodies are the same, so a lot of bits;)
Hopefully, I started recently building a unit of 10 archers from all my old bits and with some green stuff help they will be perfect magic archers;p
Image

I love the idea of warrior-mage, but sadly, I don't like that model, as all characters in this wave, I don't know why, but they don't have the spirit.
However, a great chance for alternative miniature companies and for conversions. I've got already an idea how to make my mage-knight;) Everqueen(wtf??) - great potential, shit model.

Maiden guards - coming back or just new character model? I'd love to see those girls on tables, nice model btw.

Flying chariot - come on, where is Boba Fett:D
Image
It reminds sooo the opening scenes form Return of the Jedi:D
Actually, if it will be worth it to field that chariot on battlefield, I will consider making a plasticard converstion as the spaceship above;p, without eagle, I don't like that idea.

Phoenix - hm, I'm not sure what to think about it. It can be another eye-catching addition to high elves army.
I'm really waiting for the rules, it will help me to decide what is worth buying, because as a High Elves huge fun, unfortunately, I don't have the feeling that I NEED some of those new models :?

Star Wars theme? sounds awesome;p Jedi we already have
