For we are the Asur!
I have been collecting and painting high elves for longer than I can remember so my collection is a rather interesting mix of 4th 5th 6th and 7th edition elves.
However, when the 7th edition army book came out, I finally took the decision to paint my army.
So without further ado here are some of the units that I managed to paint so far:
first some chariots :
1st Lion chariot
2nd Lion chariot
Tiranoc chariot

Re: For we are the Asur!
Nice. It is great to see how the models go raising in quality. I specially like the PG there. Also those ruins on the eagle look damn good.. Care to explain the painting process on them?
The commanders red armour looks very well too. Although i would have put more effort on its golden and silver parts considering how well the red went.
Finally the green robes n cloaks on shadow warriors and PG and the green banner on the tiranoc chariot... very very neat.

Re: For we are the Asur!
thx for the kind words.
The ruins were taken from the plastic noble and dragon kits respectively and painted with the following procedure:
black basecoat
iyaden darksun
snakebite leather
snakebite leather + bleached bone 50:50
bleached bone only in corners
skull white only at the very edges.
I hope this helps

Great, nice, good, good, good, good, good, good, good don't much like Korhil's hair but otherwise very nice, good and OHMYGODIT'SADRAGONAGAIN!
Seriously though, nice job on the models! I think Korhil's hair unnaturally yellow though.

Re: For we are the Asur!
I really like how you have Green as this main colour but throughout the army there are colours like red and purple to show the difference between the units. Maybe we could see a whole army pic? Are you going to highlight the Lion Chariot banner like you did with the Tiranoc one? Because it looks incredible, overall, good job!
Re: For we are the Asur!
thx everyone for your comments!
@Luna Guardian: yeap I am also kind of unhappy about Korhil's hair but I really cant be bothered to repaint it. Maybe at some other time
@Dragon Prince63: I hope to get the necessary feeling in order to paint that one too some time soon. In the meantime I am trying to finish my Phoenix Guard and that block of Spear elves

Re: For we are the Asur!
Well it has been quite some time since my last update so I think a group shot of the whole army should compensate for my long absence
Next in the painting list are 25 5th edition spear elves plus 25 current spear elves.
Soon after that I will start working on the fantastic new Island of Blood minis...
for the time being here is the current condition of the army:

Re: For we are the Asur!
A nice, clean, painted, finished army - you must be a proud daddy!
I can see your adding more and more but its always inspirational to see a fully painted battle worthy force on the table top. I especially like the colour scheme you've chosen on your prince.
However, I'm a bit jealous of you owning those 6th ed. Shadow Warriors - they are so much nicer than the current 7th Ed. Gary Morley designed ones!

Re: For we are the Asur!
yes! the previous edition shadow warriors were so much better! I wish I had more of them...
Thank you for your kind comments, I am indeed a proud dad :p
The problem is that I still have a lot to paint... 10 current Dragon Princes , around 50 spear elves (25 5th and 25 current) and on top of that I am sure that I will end up buying the new High Elves coming out in October... you know, it feels like chasing a carrot but never actually getting it

Re: For we are the Asur!
Wow. I agree about Korhil but seriously, very good job. At first I disliked the different colour schemes but now I have seen the whole army, me likey! It looks as if a group of elves got together and thought "What would Brettonia look like if it stopped sucking?" and then decided it was time for a new colour scheme!
I am "campaining" (well, moaning) that the blurb of the codex should have
"...But the Dragons are stirring..."
added to the end. Post this on your signature if you agree/can be bothered.
Really enthusiastic Gobbo player: Night goblin fanatic
Me: High Elf fanatic?!? What a freakish conversion that would be...

Really nice army man. I always feel envy when i see peoples armies finished, or almost! The characters show how good you can go on painting too

Actually that title explains my reaction to the army quite nicely..."Wow!!" And then there was silence

Re: For we are the Asur!
a small update after a looong looong time
still heavily WIP
real life and other gaming obligations (especially Napoleonics) have taken the best part of my painting time so I was unable to finish any High Elves... The good thing is that with the big HE release of plastic awesomeness last year I now have many new toys to paint. Problem is that I hardly have any free time anymore and although I would love to paint faster I just cant sacrifice quality for quantity...
So bear with me as over the following days and months I will try to motivate my self to go through the following:
2 boxes of island of blood HE
3 boxes of plastic phoenix guard
1 box of plastic White lions
1 box of plastic Dragon Princes
and lots and lots of unpainted metal.... Isha give me strength

Re: For we are the Asur!
This armies great, I can't believe it's had such little attention! I love the green/purple you have running throughout a lot of your units... those two colours go together beautifully. Only thing I could suggest to improve the painting is to make the white less flat by giving it some definition
Bring me my bow of burning gold, bring me my arrows of desire, bring me my spear O' Clouds unfold, bring me my chariot of FIRE!

Nice!
I really like your colour scheme and your army looks great as a whole - lots of different colours and a nice clean white.
Would you mind sharing the colours for the white lions?
I like the mix of old and new models - esp. the DPs.
Those spearelves (or are they sea guard?) have inspired me to use the kneeling legs from the archers on my own spearelves - thanks!
