Finally after many months away from the world of warhammer fantasy a visit from a friend has provided me with the lovely skaven warlord model from the Island of Blood box set (he ended up with four of them so didnt mind giving one away). Since its such a fantastic looking mini I've decided to paint it to the highest standard that I can, including my first attempt at directional lighting from the flame on the banner.

So far I've completed about 1/3 of the model, I will probably be going over some of the areas that I've already completed to add in the lighting effect, and some freehand detail.. but all that will be much further down the road (I've finally got myself some full time employment, so don't no how much free time I'll have... though at least now I'll have the money to get myself a nice army together).

Anyway here we go my skaven slideshow :D

I went for a worn look on the tassle on the spear, I'll also be making the metals look more worn, but that will be left till later when they are all painted and all the lighting is completed.

All C&C appreciated

Your NMM skills make me sick with envy! I tried it a few times and it looked good, but only if you like swords looking like they were made of rock haha. As always great work and keep it up.

Just read your post from start to finish and was really enjoyable read, def going to have a go at freehand but on a few test models first after seeing the phoenix on the HE Mage.

Looking forward to seeing more.

There is something a little bit strange about it. I think it's that the skin is nearly the same colour as the banner. Just my opinion.
