No, but I am very curious about it and probably would if I could find people who did play it.

Any more detailed comments about the rules?

I love the fact that it includes futuristic Sikhs and that they appear to be an elite unit. Awesome stuff.

The rules are pretty straight forward. I like that its a reactionary game where you actually get to play when its your opponents turn. It can be a sneaky game (it even has rules on how much you're forced to reveal about your army list).

I like that you can do things like target the ground ( something frustrating in 40k.) with missile launchers and other template weapons. Camo is fun but a bit confusing at times.

My only complaint is the weak translation from Spanish into English (i can't imagine how rough the Asian languages might be) which can cause some confusing rules interpretations at times.

I would, but the guy who is leading the de facto Infinity group in our local is a total tool. I love the concept but refuse to play while he's leading the charge.

I've played Infinity and I enjoy the system, but its a lot to take in at once. All of the different wargear and what not make it very difficult as a new comer to start up. Also turn 1 of Infinity is brutal for the second player if they don't deploy correctly. Unfortunately I don't like that aspect of the game. I hate how a link team of 5 models can walk up turn 1 and decimate most of an opponent's army if played properly.

yup! its d20 based and they are free. yep. TOTALLY FREE!. head over to their site and download them.
essentially your stat (ballistic skill) is your target number to get under. if you get the target number exactly, critical success. Cover + range will modify your target number, making it easier/harder to hit your target.
a standard battle runs at about 150pts, which is pretty much one of the £35 starter sets + 2 extra models so you can be up and running for next to nothing. it seems rare to see more than 10 models on the board.
It is played on a 4x4 terrain heavy board. it is very tactical, as your guys are quite squishy. overly aggressive play gets your rambo dude deaded quickly! CC isnt really much of a factor and the only vehicles that are in it are motorbikes.

the number of models you have on the board generates the same number of orders. you spend these orders on your troops to make them do stuff, like climbing, shooting, hacking, cloaking, throwing grenades and stuff.
If you cross the opponents line of sight or declare an attack on them, then they get an automatic reaction order (ARO) which basically means they can either dodge, shoot back at you, hack your electronics etc.
It basically means you're always engaged with what is going on as you are always reacting to your opoonent even when you've spent your order pool.
I really like it, its much quicker to set up and play than a 3k game of fantasy and it scratches that skirmish itch well when i need it!
an interesting variation on my usual playstyle, which is 'charge forward, forward for the love of khaine, we can fight better than any of them and they can't shoot into melee why is our armor so thin ohgodcannons'

Just saw this thread. And there's plenty not to love about the filthy JSA. ISS ftw.

I just ordered a 250 point JSA force ^_^
Thinking of painting them up in a Bubblegum Crisis theme, or maybe something more mainstream like Appleseed...

Nice work! I finished painting my Oyori about 3 months ago! Its a terror on the table!

You should pick up a 5 man haramaki link team with Missile Launcher. Those boys are SUPER nasty! They lock down the center of the field and spit death.

And here's my ISS, plus Hac Tao. So much painting ahead of me, good thing I have a hobby session planned with some friends where we are going to sit around painting and building for a day.

I've got a tournament coming up the week after a fantasy tournament! my wife's going to kill me...

Haha. Here's what I'm contemplating right now:

Haramaki w. Contender
Haramaki w. Contender
Haramaki w. Contender
Haramaki w. Combi Rifle
Haramaki w. Missile Launcher

Domaru Butai Lt
Kempeitai Chain of Command (Combi Rifle)
O-yori T.A.G.

Thoughts?

I gather it's not ITS with that lack of specialists.

Looks like my list! Except I don't have any Haramaki, only got Keisotsu, and one of them has a HMG.
My Kempeitai has a shotgun. I've heard good things about Haramaki link teams, and I'd get some but I need a medic, or a second O-yoroi...

a specialist is a trooper with the hacker, paramedic, engineer, doctor, forward observer or specialist troop rule listed on their profile.
You need them to interact with objectives, so any game featuring objectives means you're pretty screwed unless you manage to kill the enemy before they can claim any.

At JSA our doctors aren't worth their points. We're supposed to play fast and aggressive, doctors tend to get left behind. Get used to playing without the doc. I love using the Domaru LT and chain of commanding back to a Kempeitai. Lets the LT get his hands dirty because I still have a back up.

I'm thinking of dropping the TAG for some hackers, maybe a ninja, an aragato, and an engineer since i think we need them to score objectives now.

I'm expanding my JSA, getting O-Yoroi and the Haramaki HI boxset, and another Keisotsu Butai with missile launcher + Keisotsu Butai with HMG.
I should probably get an engineer, to keep the TAGs running...

Haramaki are FIERCE! I just got home from a 2 games where the 5 man link team was able to mop up the army before he was able to reach his objectives. Two shots with a missile launcher is just... so mean!

Boarding shotguns love link teams, how close do they need to be to each other to be a link team, or is it range from the link leader?

Updates to my JSA, trying to get these done before next meet, when I get more =P

hey, they look nice!
you have to be within zone of control of the link team leader (8") to be in a link team. if you stray outside of this (or one of your guys gets glued or immobilised by a hacker or something)
then you lose the link and have to spend your Lt order to rebuild the link again.
you guys have a forward observer drone (with sensor too), "weibing" iirc. you can take REM's if you have a TAG or a hacker so you've got that one sorted right off the bat. its a 6-4 MOV so its pretty quick at getting to objectives and can grab the telemetry secret objective as well.
i think your other fast objective grabber is the hacker on the motorbike (aragoto butai?? memory isn't great)
played against both options and they seemed to be decent options given their cost and relative speed.
