Game 6 - Lkhero Vampire Counts (ETC)

For my 6th game I had to chance to versus our very own Lkhero. His army is as follows

Vampire Lord (Level 4) on Barded Nightmare - Quick Blood, Giant Blade, Talisman of Preservation, The Other Trickster's Shard
Wight BSB on Barded Nightmare - Nightshroud
Vampire on Barded Nightmare - Enchanted Shields

Sorry forgot some of the bloodlines he had. I know there was Beguile and Fear Incante?

22 Zombies - Standard
40 Ghouls - Champion
5 Dogs
5 Dogs
5 Dogs

5 Hexwraith
5 Hexwraith
12 Black Knights - Full Command, Screaming Banner

1 Terrorgheist

Deployment
Image
Very tight setup for both sides. I expected him to come at me pretty quick and using the Hexwraith and the Dogs to jam me up. My plan was to kill the chaff as quickly as possible and probably get my General and my WLs into his BK bus.

For magic:
Level 4 Vampire: 0,1,3,5
Level 1 Vampire: 0

Level 2 Heavens: 0,6

I got first turn

pk-ng Turn 1
Image
I wiggle some units around to give clear firing lanes to my RBT and also keeping out of range of his Hexwraith.
Magic and shooting only resulted in 1 Hexwraith and 1 dog dead.

Lkhero Turn 1
Sorry forgot to take a Screenshot
He pushes forward and swings everything to the western flank. In the magic phase he gets Curse of Years off on my General...which does nothing

pk-ng Turn 2
Image
My turn 2 sees me shoot off some dogs and also killing alot of his black knights. I get an IF off Chain Lightning and kill some Hexwraith but not enough to clear the unit.

Lkhero Turn 2
Image
His turn 2 sees him rushing forward trying to take down my support elements and also push me for combat. If I remember correctly he fails to cast and I dispel Curse of Years.

pk-ng Turn 3
Image
My turn sees me charge the depleted BK bus with my General and my Silver Helms. I move my Phoenix to protect my RBT and also push my White Lions so that they are in his flank.
Combat sees me butcher his BKs but he also butches my Silver Helms. Combat resolution see's him take 1W on the BSB.

Lkhero Turn 3
Image
In his turn 3 he charges his Ghouls into my Phoenix and causes 2 wounds with re-roll to hit buff on them.
The BK Silver Helm grind out continues and he only loses by 1 which means he doesn't lose any wounds due to the BSB.
He blocks my WL with his lone Hexwraith

pk-ng Turn 4
Image
My turn 4 sees me butcher the Level 1 Vampire and the Hexwraith.
The Reavers charges the Ghouls in the flank and the Phoenix continue to grind it out

The rest of the game sees me popping his general and his Hexwraith near my Sisters gets killed and overruns into the Archers whom actually kills one of them because of combat resolution - lol: Go Archers! My Phoenix dies to the ghouls and after his general pops he calls its and it was GG.

Hope you enjoy this quick BR!

i play that build recently and it's awesome:
Anointed of Asuryan @ 515.0 Pts
General; Halberd; Heavy Armour
Reaver Bow
Enchanted Shield
Dawnstone
Khaine's Ring of Fury
Flamespyre Phoenix

it's mainly because polish referees decided that FHF hexes to strength doesn't stuck but it's very fun and annoying for opponents

@Feanordil - do you think your build is good? It looks like it's designed for killing RnF but since you can only move 10" and shoot do you think it limits your movement?

Have been playing around and starting some campaigns and tournaments for my local area so been busy.
The ETC final draft have been released and the new comp for HE are as follows
2400 points
Flying units (excluding chariots), max 4.
Frostheart Phoenix, max 1.
Book of Hoeth counts as 2 power dice and 1 dispel dice.
Banner of World Dragon count as 1 dispel dice.
Ellyrian Reavers, max 3.
Models armed with shooting weapons (bolt Throwers count as 5 each) max 70.

With this in mind my list has gotta change due to the new restriction (I usually play under ETC). So my proposed modified list.

Anointed on Frostheart Phoenix - Giant Blade, Enchanted Shield, Luckstone, The Other Trickster's Shard (535)
Noble BSB on Barded Steed - Star Lance, Dragonhelm, Golden Crown of Atrazar, Great Weapon, Shield, Heavy Armour (170)
Level 2 Heavens Mage - Khaine's Ring of Fury, Ironcurse Icon (150)
Level 2 High Mage - Dispel Scroll (145)

15x Archers - Musician (160)
7x Silver Helms - Full Command, Shields (191)
5x Reavers - Swap for Bows (85)
5x Reavers - Swap for Bows (85)
5x Reavers - Swap for Bows (85)

20x White Lions - Full Command, Banner of the World Dragon (340)
5x Dragon Princes (145)

1x Eagle claw Bolt Thrower (70)
1x Eagle claw Bolt Thrower (70)
1x Eagle claw Bolt Thrower (70)
7x Sisters of Avelorn (98)

As you can see with the drop in the Frostheart Phoenix in rare I've add more magical support and also added a unit of 5 Dragons Princes.

What do you guys think?

Hi Guys!
After a long hiatus from HE, RL getting in the way and new ETC restrictions for HE I've decided to come visit my Anointed army.

Without further ado the restrictions as follows:
High Elves
• Book of Hoeth/Banner of the World Dragon/Archmage with Lore of Death/2nd Forsheart Phoenix, max 1
• Star Dragon/2nd Frostheart Phoenix, max 1
• Models armed with shooting weapons (Eagle Claw Bolt Throwers count as 6 each), max 70
• Ellyrian Reaver units/1st Eagle unit/Eagle Claw Bolt Thrower, max 6
So quite a big change from the previous restrictions and they now allow double Frostheart (which would make things interesting).

So my revised list
Anointed on Frostheart Phoenix - Giant Blade, Enchanted Shield, Luckstone, The Other Trickster's Shard (535)
Noble BSB on Barded Steed - Dawnstone, Biting Blade, Dragonhelm, Heavy Armour, Shield (161)
Level 2 Heavens Mage on Elven Steed - Khaine's Ring of Fury (155)
Level 2 Death Mage - Dispel Scroll (145)

16x Archers - Musician (170)
10x Silver Helms - Full Command, Shields (260)
5x Reavers - Swap for Bows (85)
5x Reavers - Swap for Bows (85)

21x White Lions - Full Command, Banner of the World Dragon (340)

1x Eagle claw Bolt Thrower (70)
1x Eagle claw Bolt Thrower (70)
1x Eagle claw Bolt Thrower (70)
1x Frostheart Phoenix (240)

So I've dropped 1x Reavers, Dragon Princes and Sisters for more Helms and 1 more Frostheart. I've also change the setup on the BSB to make it more survivable (1+/1+), but it is only S4 so it won't be grinding tough opponents.

Thoughts and comments?

I like the list however are any scenarios being played?

ATM I don't think so. But if scenario are to be played a quick fix could be to drop 1 archer for standard bearer and I'll be set for Blood & Glory. But it'll definitely depend on what scenarios will be played and IF they'll be played.

Your list is illegal, you cannot have 2 frosthearts and botwd. However, have you considered 3 frosthearts? ;)

I think restriction only applies to solo frostie, anointed on frostie is ok.

There was something about it in ETC Q&A topic, but TWF is still down so no way to check :(

Ok wanted to try this before so lets see how this goes!
Anointed on Frostheart Phoenix - Blade of the Leaping gold, Dawnstone, Enchanted Shield (550)
Noble BSB on Great Eagle - Star Lance, Golden Crown of Atrazar, Charmed Shield, Potion of Foolhardiness, Heavy Armour, Lion Cloak (203)
Level 2 Heavens Mage on Elven Steed - Khaine's Ring of Fury (155)
Level 2 Death Mage - Dispel Scroll (145)

16x Archers - Musician (170)
10x Silver Helms - Full Command, Shields (260)
5x Reavers - Swap for Bows (85)
5x Reavers - Swap for Bows (85)

17x White Lions - Full Command, Razor Banner (296)

1x Eagle claw Bolt Thrower (70)
1x Eagle claw Bolt Thrower (70)
1x Eagle claw Bolt Thrower (70)
1x Frostheart Phoenix (240)

So dropped some White Lions and changed the banner to Razor Banner (may consider switching to Swiftnes Banner and add more bodies). But I've "upgraded" my BSB to an aggressive mobility killing platform. Not my favourite but since the Anointed took all the defensive gear I needed some killing power and I think the BSB maybe able to provide that.
Essentially now my Anointed has switched from offense to defense having a 2+/2+/4++ and 6S4 attacks with stomp shiould help with grinding out infrantry and he can be really tanky.
May need to mount the death mage and not sure what value (or how much value) he brings to the army. May consider dropping him for bodies for the WL but I'll play some games first before I judge.

Are you asking why HEavens Mage has a longer range the death?
If so then i guess because it's cast from the "heavens" and part of the advantage for the lore is it's range.

daid13 wrote:No I mean why give guy with long range the horse when the short ranged guy is on foot.
My main reason is I want my death mage in the safety of my WLs as I'll be throwing 4 dice at it's spell most of the time. If I miscast the WL can take it due toe BotWD. The other reason why I had my heavens mage on a steed is a) he's carrying Khaine's Ring of Fury and it has short range and if I roll up Harmonic Convergence it'll be casted on the Helms to increase their survivability.

Re: Rise of the Anointed!

#86 Post by pk-ng »

So not really an update for this blog but just an update about a tournament I'm currently in.
2800 tournament no comp Warhammer originally for 20 pax but some dropped out last minute.
My list consist of the following

Teclis
Noble BSB - Reaver Bow, Potion of Strength, Charmed Shield, Dragon Armour, Halbred
Lvl 2 Light - Channeling Staff, Obsidian Trinket
Lvl 2 Light - Dispel Scroll
Lvl 1 Light - Forbidden Rod, Ironcurse Icon

14 Archers - M
13 Archers - M
5 Helms - Shield, M
5 Helms - Shield, M
5 Reavers
5 Reavers

22 White Lions - FC, Banner of World Dragon
20 Phoenix Guard - FC, Razor Banner
5 Shadow Warriors

3 Repeater Bolt Thrower
1 Eagle

So overall I would like to give special thanks to Grenric and Swordmaster for assisting in list design, critique and feedback.
So from what I can see in the tournament the army break down is
5 HE (4 Teclis base list with 3 centered around Light Council and 1 Full Dragon, Phoenix and Cav list [which TBH is doing quite well])
2 LM
2 Skaven (I vs'ed both of them)
1 OK
1 DE
2 Empire
1 DoC
1 WoC

Victory System (BP)
Crushing Victory - 20/0
Minor Victory - 15/5
Draw - 10/10

So I'm surprised there is so many HE and I'm really glad that I had unit of PG as another combat unit because the unit has been very good for me to finish up a unit that I didn't want my WL to get in.

Unfortunately my parents had just got back from a trip and dropped my camera and wasn't able to take any pictures...so GG.

Game 1 - HE / Battle Line
So Teclis base light council with a slight variation from me. If I remembered correctly his list was as follows:
Teclis
Lvl 3 Light - Book of Hoeth
Noble BSB - Reaver Bow (not sure if he had PoS or not).
Lvl 1 Light - Scroll
Lvl 1 Light - Forbidden Rod

14 Archers - M
14 Archers - M
9 Helms - Shield, FC
5 Helms - Shield, M

15 PG - FC (no magical banner)
15 WL - FC Banner of the World Dragon
5 Dragon Princes - M

3 RBT
1 GE - Swiftsense
1 GE - Swiftsense

So guess what!?....it was a Deweller's competition...whoever Dewellered off the opponent's Teclis pretty much would of won. Him having a Lvl 3 was actually good for him as if he lost Teclis it wouldn't of been so bad for him.

I finished deploying first and was able to get turn 1.
Moved up my WL unit (which had Teclis) and proceeded to cast Deweller's! but didn't get IF....he proceeded to Scroll of Hoeth it....and luckily I won the roll up
His turn 1 was pretty much exactly the same
My turn 2 I IF Dewellers and got Teclis!
It was pretty much me mopping up but he got a couple of lucky charges (and some bad unit placement by me) and he was able to get some points off me. It was 15 - 5 to me.

Game 2 - Skaven / Meeting the Engagement
The twin tower of Skaven...
Grey Seer on Bell
Plague priest on Furnace
BSB
Warlock - Brass Orb
2 big block of slaves
2 Clanrants
1 Stormvermin
1 Plague Monks
2 Aboms - Magical attacks
2 Warp-Lighting Cannon

These sort of horde list was not what I wanted to versus as there was too many things for me to shoot off (Aboms, Cannons and Twin Towers) and obviously the 13th spell.
So I got to choose sides and deployed first (which I didn't want) on top of that my WL, BSB and Shadow Warriors were in reserve!
I deployed everything in the corner with 2 Reavers and 1 Helm on the left flank for diverting duty and 1 Helms, GE and 2 Archers on the right flank for diverting duty.
Unfortunately for me he was able to steal the initiative to go first! GG
The first few turns consist him of pushing his unit as far forward as possible and me trying to take out his toys.
On his first turn he casted 13th spell but didn't get IF and I used the Scroll of Hoeth...D6 rolled....GONE! TAKE IT OFF!!!!!!!!
I was able to take out his Cannons in turn 2 / 3 but he was able to get alot of S10 shots that killed some of my chaff.
The funny thing was I had 3 Helms helms left after his turn 1 and I charged it into the Bell unit...I was able to kill of the Grey Seer!....BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
I was also able to take out his Plague Furnace through shooting and magic and reduced the Plague Monk unit to 2 guys but wasn't able to finish him
Unfortunately Teclis went down a hole around turn 4 and with that I wasn't able to get any more points as I switched to trying to conserve as much points as possible.
In the end it was 10-10 draw so something I would peg.
FYI damn bell took out my RBT over 2 turns....

Game 3 - Skaven / Battle
This list was more manageable and from memory it was
Grey Seer
Warlord
BSB
Warlock - Brass Orb
Warlock - Doomfire Rocket
40 Stormvermin
40 Plague Monks
Chaff
80 Slaves
40 Slaves
40 Slaves
2 Cannon
2 Abom - no magical attack

So a some what more manageable skaven army. I knew I wouldn't of been able to kill everything to my targets to kill were Cannon with Reavers or Scout, Abom with Magic and shooting, Plague Monks with magic and finish up with close combat, Stormvermin with magic and finish up with close combat and his chaff with shooting.
So I essentially got the better deployment of him even though he had more deployment than me. I was able to refush flank and place 2 RBT, PG, WL, 1 Archer, 1 Reaver, Helm on the right flank while I had 1 Reaver, Shadow Warrior on the left flank and lastly GE with Helms in the centre.
Directly opposite Teclis was 2 Aboms on the left board edge, some chaff, behind it were Plague Monks and behind the Monks were the Storm vermin and next to the on the right were Slaves.
Perfect. The slaves were too far from me to be a nuisance until later turns 4-5 and I could shoot / magic off the aboms and magic off some of his main combat block
My Turn 1 I was able to move up and IF dewellered his plague monks killing 1/2 the unit but none of the characters bunkered inside
His Turn 1 saw massive movement of the Abom coming really close to my lines. His magic saw him casting 13th spell with no IF. I scroll of Hoeth it and won the roll off....excellent my main magic threat gone. 1 of his cannons also blew up
My Turn 2 saw me taking off 1 Abom through magic and killing off the Cannons and my 1 of my reavers and getting into his back lines.
His turn 2 saw one 1 the aboms causing some havoc
My Turn 2 saw me doing some repositioning and dewellering his stormvermin
His turn 2 saw him pushing his units forward
My turn 3 saw me killing the last abom and my PGs trying to finish off the Plague Monks but his unit held on double 1. which is good for me
His turn 3 saw my PG finishing off his Plague Monks and him bailing all his characters into the slave unit next door.
My turn 4 saw my PG charging into the Slaves with all the characters
Over the next few turns saw me killing off all his characters bar the warlord and my Lvl 2 Channeling staff mage and BSB surviving all incoming attacks
after calculating scores I had only lost 2 Helms and 1 RBT. He had lost Seer, Warlocks, 2 Aboms, 2 Cannons, Plagues and some chaff.
20-0 to me!

So after the first day i had a total of 45/60 points. Not bad at all. 2 more games to go today with the 4th game been Battle for the Pass (good for me) and the 5th game for me would be battle line. From what I've been told I may be versusing the Star Dragon list which meets back board edge and pew pew pew pew pew....first target Star Dragon. Then probably the Cav.

Look Out Sir is not allowed per rulebook but some tournament organisers add that possibility.

Surely it was Morathi in disguise leading her twisted kin to battle under magical illusions!

Can't wait to see how this one ends!
