Sad news indeed - I've been following this story since the news broke a couple of hours ago that he was in hospital, and watching as more and more sources were saying that he was dead, until about 2 minutes ago when the official confirmation came through.

Those of my generation will remember the day that Elvis died WAY back in 1977 - the sort of even when you remember where you were and what you were doing when you heard the news. This sad day will be similar.

50 is the new 30 - WAY too young to die :(

I blame it on the boogie.

Despite his slide into wierdness, he was awesome.

Just caught it on the BBC news, very tragic but went out like a true rock star R.I.P.
Very shocked, he was only 50.

Don't know if it's worth a new thread. Farrah Fawcett also passed away today.

Sad, but personally I'm not that bothered. His last lot of good music was a long time ago.

Farah's death was not unexpected, and with Michael there was little that could surprise one. Of the three, I find the passing of Jeff Goldblum most affecting.

Jeff Goldblum is apparently not dead:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2279592/posts

The multiple reports stating that Jeff Goldblum died today in a tragic fall while filming a movie in New Zealand are 100% false.

Having been online for longer than we’d like to admit, we caught this story as a fake immediately — because it’s originally from at least 2006.

While the story has remained the same throughout the years, the actors names have varied. Last time, it was Tom Cruise. This time, it’s Jeff Goldblum. In six months, it’ll be Zac Efron.

I was going to dig the thread I made in 2005 or something about the death of Michael Jackson but then I remembered the site transformed and we lost all old posts. Anyways, I was in Stockholm, Sweden with my brother and on the day we were leaving the newspaper EXPRESSEN had huge headlines of "King of Pop hittat livslös med sprit och druger" which translates to "King of Pop found lifeless with booze and drugs".

Apparently it wasn't true then.

Well now it is and I'll just go to uTube and listen to Man in the Mirror.

That's not a newspaper, that's a tabloid. Go figure.

And here I thought they were going to send a search and rescue team to the Hotel Citroen among the Ping Islands for Goldblum.

Michael Jackson was a great influence on me, musically. When I was growing up, he was a big element in our neighborhood, someone was always playing an album or mixtape of his stuff on the hot summer days. I emulated a lot of his vocal stylings when it came to performances, and I almost always played a cover of 'The Way You Make Me Feel' if I could squeeze it in, and the applause it got time after time was only a testament to the timelessness of what he has created.

Meh, people can say what they like at the end of the day he's had an enormous influence of modern culture. I also really enjoyed his music throughout his career.

I still cant believe he is dead. I managed to get tickets for his concert and was very excited to be able to see him live as I love his music. I can see this doctor getting in a world of hurt from the media now as they try to pin it all on him.

Mmmm, nope. I'm not kidding. I didn't know him since a) I'm not from the US and b) I hardly watch tv (and even less infomercials).

Anyway, back on topic. I really like Thriller, but other than that, his passing away doesn't really affect me.

Michael Jackson was possibly the biggest enertainer in history and I get that. In the US right now all the news stations won't stop talking about him. Reminds me of Anna Nicole they just wouldn't stop talking about it. And until this custody battle is over there is no end in sight. Although I thought the news would take longer to stop talking about Jon and Kate Gosselin. And before that it was the Octomom. Nowadays the only sources of news I respect are respected newspapers, online, and The Colbert Report/ The Daily Show. And I guess Conan O'brien's monolouge might count :D .

Also I would never let a child share a bed with Michael Jackson cause there is definitly something wrong with that guy.
