Only every played two Empire players and whilst i did well against both(soft lists) i was impressed with the number of high Str shooting that there normal shotting can dish out.
Horde Of Halberdiers with 2 detachments of X-bows in front. Times 2. 80 shots all st 4. Then add in warmachines and its pretty messy for our low armoured and low in number troops.

As for warmachines - great range and whilst not as realiable as dwarven just as deadly...

I know they are one of the flag ship armies from a selling point of view and like the ammount of thought put into them for a range of products. Not a great army, but one that can be taylored numerate ways to suit most styles of player. Nice overall

Swapping skaven and consideration are empire/brets -Should prob have a human army..or trying my hand at 40k...(thinking chaos space marines)

Please don't vote Vampires, I beseech you. We did it with Ogres as soon as they came out and people hadn't had enough practice against them and some of their items still needed an FAQ to clear up.

I suggest we leave Vamps until they are properly out and have an FAQ at least. That way we know exactly what we're up against and don't have to take wild stabs in the dark.

I agree. Armies rumored to be released in the near future will just need to be revisited. I believe Empire is also rumored to be in the first half of the year, so I didn't vote for them or vamps.

You know what, I kinda like this enemy of the month thing.

I think starting this year, as part of my new years resolution, I'll write a Vs. strategy column every time we reach a fresh enemy.

It will sorta look like this:
http://lkhero.blogspot.com/2010/07/tact ... elves.html

But it will be shorter and posted on this site instead.

Vote away guys!

I voted Lizards. They don't seem too bad, but I have some trouble facing them.

I voted Daemons as well, for selfish reasons - It's one of the armies I know very little about.

I think Demons are most in need of a rewrite. 8th edition reigned them in a lot compared to where they are but I mainly think they need a rewrite due to the fact they have less choice of units, less depth in the way of fluff (particularly if you wanna build a fluffy monogod army)...

Combine all that with the fact that they have been seen for a while as an army which is only used by cheesey players/tourney players and you see why they're not popular in a friendly environment (which is where 90%+ warhammer games take place). I've played Vamps 3 times in 8th and don't really buy what people have said about them being weak now, double black coach is still a nightmare to deal with.

I voted O+G; I find mangler squigs and fanatics rip our T3 lighted armoured and expensive units to shreds far too easily. I mean I know we have Eagles, Reavers and such like and should be able to deal with them easily (especially with good use of scenery) but I still find them horrible. A Mangler squig once ate 5 of My dragon princes who were carrying my banner of sorcery
Bring me my bow of burning gold, bring me my arrows of desire, bring me my spear O' Clouds unfold, bring me my chariot of FIRE!

Check out my rather slow caledor themed painting log and my dragon project... also my faster moving nurgle themed Warriors of Chaos themed painting log

I think when we do these we need to list what armies have previously been covered and when, it would help alot.

Well, the armies that have already been done are the ones that are not included in the poll so there will never be a duplicate (unless a new book comes out). For reference, here are the previous ones we've covered, feel free to use the search-fu to find them:

September - Warriors of Chaos
October - Ogre Kingdoms
Movember - Dwarves
December - Skaven

Also, the poll usually runs for 5-7 days. In this case Jan 6th 10.01pm. It says the poll end date underneath the name of the Poll (unless that is a function reserved only for those who have created the poll, as I doubt).

Hope that helps :)

I voted for our sundered kin as I'm playing a campaign against them and I'm curious to see what other people use to eliminate the nasty stuff they can place on the table. Also I have no idea how our elite infantry compares to theirs. That and they can have the most ridiculous magic phases, and I'm interested to see how other people prioritize dispelling. Dark Elves are a tough enemy to fight.

Ah yes, power of darkness. 1xd3+1 extra pd on a spell cast on 4+

There are usually two strategies, cast PoD first on 2 dice. If the roll is high, then opponent will often let it though, and you get 2 to 4 replacement dice. The second strategy is to simply save one dice till last and then try to roll PoD on one dice. If it works you get 2 to 4 dice for your last spell, which can be great for getting off that last big spell you could not afford otherwise. Downside is that any dice in excess of the 12 dice limit can't be used and your sorceress will take one S-4 hit for each unusable dice.

Cauldron of Blood is a warmachine these days that can grant one of three blessings on a single unit within 24 inches - killing blow, +1 attack or a 5+ ward save. It causes terror, has 4 wounds and a 4+ ward save.

The Pendant of Kaleth and the Cloak of Hag Grief. The pendant grants the strength of the attack as a ward save to the user, with 6 always failing. The Cloak halves the strength of all shooting attacks against the wearer. You will only see it on a flying character, usually in combination with dawnstone.

The Hydra, 7 S-5 attacks, hatred and a S-5 flaming attack with the strength of the attack dropping by one for each wound the hydra takes. The beastmasters each get 3 AP attacks as well. Because of the wording in the army book, they cannot be wounded or picked out in any way. T-5 with 5 wounds, a 4+ save and 4+ regen, the hydra is quite nice to have around. With the appearance of 8th ed and you guys getting to re-roll because of ASF, the advantage is with the HE in close combat unless you are fighting the one unit in the DE list that has the ASF banner.
