2016 Painting Challange

#1 Post by Shannar, Sealord »

Same rules as always- pledge stuff to paint, paint it (or don't), and then show it off (don't skip that part). Stuff can mean whatever you want it too. Elves, Dwarfs, Germans, spaceship, hills, etc.

I hope no one minds that I stared this, but I had something to show off, and more things to say I'll do.

For for between now and April I plan to finish my Bloodbowl team (at least everything except the thrower and 2 catchers that I want to kit bash, and some cheerleaders that I haven't picked up yet), A high elf on a Pegasus, and some 8th ed or Mordheim Shadow Warriors. Haven't decided which yet.

Anyway, my meager force of Brets is frightened by all the (mostly unpainted) Dragons that my High Elves have flying around. So they decided to recruit Jasperre le Beau, Dragonslayer (who in over 20 years still hasn't found the grail). A billion years ago I picked up all the 5 ed special characters that had models, but there are also a huge number who don't. One of my side projects when I get bored of elfs is painting (and building where necessary) all of them up. I didn't do to much with this one to make it fancy, and maybe I need to add some thing to it. But it is some of my best free hand work to date (not saying tons, but progress is progress).

No, not at all. I've been meaning to do so myself the past few days. Just never got around to it.

I'm pledging my dragon again. Hopefully I'll get it finished this month. But simply making progress would be good already.

I've been working on Space Wolves, Space Orks, and debating if I want to repaint my Black Templars as a "custom Templar-esque imperial fists offshoot" or just continue with them as it is.

Also on the table are more zombies and survivors, and there are still wood elves and high elves to paint. :/ I'm not entirely sure how much will get done, as there's packing to do, a baby to be born (April 2nd?), and moving to a new house.

I was on a really good streak, but nothing for the last week and a half. The plan is to fix that tomorrow. The plan was also to fix that today.

Just two BB minis left, and I'm working on some 4e White lions at the same time. Hopefully those are all done by monday, and the HE pegasus by next friday. After that we'll see- maybe some shadow warriors, maybe I continue with flyers. There is a pile (7?) of dragons and several birds that need attention.

Haven't gotten much done as far as painting, but I did manage to get some stuff done.

A Zombicide companion dog (in game, it's a blue heeler ... I wanted a husky though!)

Also managed to paint up one of the Space Wolves ...

Those are the ones. Just a small unit of 5 including a standard (that looks like a spear, but he was always called a standard bearer). I'm thinking I might use different colours than on the rest of my white lions. These can be the kings body guard.

Maybe we should've ordered a load just of this guy and made a unit of Chrace Spears?

It's the kind of thing that looks really cool.

I had this idea for a unit just of the 5th edition Swordmaster std bearer, over and over. Almost pikes I guess. Then they stopped offering individual models for order.

Awesome initiative! I have everything for paint! (My whole high elf army actually)
After more than 14 years in the hobby I never fully painted anything, always did base coat and then focused on playing! (I know, lazy).

Im painting my high elves with the chrace color scheme (red and white).

Currently working on unit of 20 archers, annoyted of asuryan (on foot and mounted on frostheart) and also on a bad conversion of a loremaster! Hope to finish some tomorrow and I'll post some pictures

I think you'll deserve some kind of medal Joaco!

:)

I remember when I first forced myself to actually sit down and paint an army. It was hard work but rewarding and it gets easier!

For me the surprising thing was realizing how far I had come at several points. It takes some time. But at one point I realized I had more models painted then unpainted. And at another that counting WiP models I had more painted. Or adding it all up and finding I could field 3000+ points of painted models. It's great to get to such milestones.

I did at least part of my pledge this month. I got some more paint on my dragon. The dragon itself is now slowly going towards finished. Mainly spiky bits left to do. Not sure yet what color to do them though. So I'm open to suggestions there (I'll see if I can remember to take a picture). Perhaps black with bright orange tips.

@Rogue Trader: I love the spider colors. Vibrant, spooky but still real enough. As for the goblins, they're sneaky buggers. Can't trust em...

I did get about an hour of painting in this week. Not much but it's something I guess.

Good luck on that dragon. I have several that need paint, but they are just so big... I should probably break out the airbrush.

Hey, Annoyteds finnished!

Archers aren´t finnished yet, only the reds are done, the rest only in base coat.

Its not easy in my country to find good supplies for miniature painting, and also online shopping haves a lot of taxes so
I have to use the paints that I can and not what I want. Im pretty happy with my first fully painted miniatures and
ended up liking it! (except for the basecoat stage, hate that with whites and reds becouse my reds dont cover pretty good so
had to give like 4 layers)

small update from my side. I've finished painting the dragon. Or at least, the actual dragon part of the dragon. Rider + base left. So pictures will have to wait until then. But it's at least something. And it means I've at least managed part of my pledge (which was paint something...)

I did take a pic of the WL, now I just have to upload it. The worst case of allergies I've had in over 15 years meant that I didn't get a darn thing done this week. Today was better, so maybe next week.
