Fantastic paint job and great ideas! What is the most inspiring is that you had fantastic vision and made it real! =D>

If you could tell us more about the Silver Helms? I am in particular interested in the way you created rear barding for the steeds. I see that you used chariot steeds as a base but what else was done? I mean things can be spotted by just looking at the pictures, however, more detailed description of the process would be truly appreciated.

Keep up the great work! =D>

Your Silverhelms are a true stunner! Not many people out there can claim to have such a individual and characterful unit!

Thank you for sharing it with us!

If I may ask,... Why did you spent so much time on converting them? (And only them?) I can only imagine, what your creativity could have done to our beloved plasctic archers...!

thanks for the comments! @Swordmaster of Hoeth: well, the most part of the conversion for the silver helms is the trapping on the back of the chariot horse..it was made in greenstuff. First I sculpted a layer of greenstuff as a cloth. When it was dry I sculpted a second layer of greenstuff as the scales on it. Finally when the second layer was dry I sculpted the "belt" on the rear barding. The wings are simply bits from Tyrion\malhandir box. It was a very long process #-o. Now I'll try to do something similar but different for a dragon princes unit.
@Avendigo: I spent much time on silver helms simply because i really dislike their current range from gw: I think that expecially the silver helms horses are outdated and "ugly"

Hi giovy85,

I thought you might do it this way :) I really like full barding on elven steeds and did the some for my heavy cavalry but I clearly have lots to learn from you!

Have you even considered writing a tutorial with a few pictures of various stages? I think it would be a fantastic help for your fellow hobbyists.

Thanks again!

Wow so nice to see that painting level. That silver helms so damm good, they really look strong, as it should be. I totally agree with the need of updating the steed model, I tried myself a silver helms convertion too, but not as good as urs (will post some photos soon). I really love the archers too, they look so clean and uniform. Great job.

Great paintjob! Like Shannar I'm not a fan of the sculpt itself (still didn't paint mine).

Hello there! A small update for an anointed of asuryan on phoenix.. not very happy with the result, namely for the paintjob on the armour and the mantle. Lately is getting harder to paint effectively (new work, less time #-o ) and I feel a bit demotivated.
Anyway, comment and critiques always welcomed :)

Hello Ulthuan! I'm working on a converted unit of ellyrian reaver. The idea was of make a conversion based on the classic old reavers with some kithbash from the wood elves glade riders.
Here there are the first five. Advices welcome :D

great looking unit. The WE bits work really well on them. They look a lot more dynamic (and original) then the original models :) The WE bits are mainly horses and cloaks?

Great looking unit. I don't think you need advice on these. :D But as you insist, I have a question. Did you try glade rider legs with reaver torsos? Are they too different? (Never had the old reavers. They are probably one piece metal.)

The standard is especially effective, despite being relatively simple.

Most are 2 piece metal, the newer command model was one piece with a choice of 3 arms. But personally I think the riders look better with their original legs than they would with the wood elf ones.

I never liked those wood elf horses, but these are perhaps the best reavers I've seen and make the horses look right - bravo =D> !

I'm only just picking up on this thread, but I wanted to say I love your painting!!

The colours on your Mage really pop and the cloak looks so magical

What's next?
Bring me my bow of burning gold, bring me my arrows of desire, bring me my spear O' Clouds unfold, bring me my chariot of FIRE!

Think you all for the comments :D the base body of the reavers are the one in metal of 5th edition. Some arms are made in greenstuff, the hands , weapons , cloaks, are from gladeriders. I preferred to mantain the metal legs because the legs of the gladeriders are small and they don 't fix Well with the torso

One of the best ellyrian reavers conversion I have seen, I love the oldschool reavers combo with very dynamic WE horses, amazing job and perfect painting as well :)

That model has way to much going on. Not your paint job, I think that is very nice indeed. Just whoever sculpted it needed a lesson on "sometimes less is more". You've done a really nice job of picking out all the detail and still keeping it somewhat subdued. Most of the ones I've seen either neglect some of the details (I did that) or end up really gaudy. You found a good balance.

The banner is from confrontation alhan royal standard bearer.
It was actually a pain to convert, because is made of metal and was hard to prevent it from snapping from the arm of the bearer.
