Painting and Modelling Showcase 2016?

#1 Post by Aicanor »

Dear Ulthuan,

Secret Santa is (almost) over for the year and it is a while since we last had some painting and modelling fun. But here it is. Let's show off our painted units, beasts and characters in our brand new Painting and Modelling Showcase. New, old, ancient, alternative, newly painted or vintage - everything goes.

We came up with twelve categories from which you can choose what you want to see/show off first. New thread will be opened for February and if everything goes well, we'll let you choose a new one for every month this year. Every month, a fitting title will be given out for best entry. So if you are interested, vote now. If you have any questions or suggestions, they are welcome in this thread.

Cast your vote now, the poll is open only until Wednesday (3rd February), and take out your models and cameras!

My vote goes for cavalry character, as I'm about to paint my mounted BSB :)

While I'm painting a dragon mage, I doubt I'll get him done in time to take part here. I think I'll go for character on foot. I have a few lying around, painted, who deserve to be put up here :)

There seems not to be a slot for cav units.

Anyway, it might be kind of fun to work it up slowly. Start with a Hero, move on to some core and special stuff, maybe a mounted hero, some chariots and bolt throwers and do army shots last. It would give everyone a chance to work up to them.

Sixth slot?
I voted mounted monsters, but have enough heroes and lords on foot to fill a few posts.

Well then, lets chalk that one up to old age/blindness.

But you did see this thread so all is well.
It looks like characters on foot will be most popular option. It will be a long post from me.

The categories seem to be only Warhammer related. It is understandable but would you accept models from other games if they fit to the category?

Another question, is it going to replace Monthly Painting Challenge?

No, this is for old models as well as new. Thevpainting challenge is still here. but we might make it an ongoing thread. Depends how popular the first installment is.

I'll probably treat it as HE only for myself. It'll give me motivation to get back to work on this insane backlog of models.
