Thanks guys! Still so much to do for the unit to be finished! I need to buy more models to finish the unit fillers, but hey I'm happy if the front rank is painted haha

The bastiladon will come, don't you worry! Actually almost ready, maybe a few more days at the most

Stay tuned

I love how the gold and the vibrant blue go together! And that weapon just looks brutal with the heavy ball built into the head. :D

Thanks Solith. My Lizardmen theme is light skinned Saurus and dark skinned skinks. Considering I've gone with blue (too much like GW theme), I had to do something differently!

Good thing with the weapon is, while it's a Halberd, I could probably get away calling it a great weapon!

Great work on the Old blood Brad. The base has come up a treat as well!

Thanks Jimmy! My only issue is that the model is weighted forward. I've filled the back of the base with old metal offcuts to weigh it back, but it's still a bit front heavy.

Next to come will be the slann, again with converted stuff (palequin, crown) and fancy base. Will have him up probably this weekend.

Very nice work. I'm always intrigued with Lizardmen paint schemes because I feel it has some of the most freedom with all the different types of lizards and amphibians.

I agree... however, I didn't take advantage of that fact and went with blue.. Sometimes I wish i'd gone for something more unique :/

I really like your sculpting techniques. I personally could not do it to save my life. Good job. I think they the models are excellent.

Slann is ready for battle! Note palequin made from temple tiles and broken tiles on the base.
I'm quite happy with the poison flower and jungle plants on the base :)

Through some combination of the more simple and brutal palanquin and the paint job on his face but you've managed to make a giant frog look outright intimidating. I like it!

Great Frog, I like the colour choice in particular :)

He certainly looks like one ugly toad, nicely done! I'm trying to convince my Lizardman buddy to paint his Slann in poison frog colors. You know really bright colors. But I do like yours, much more like a disgusting toad then the typical green fat frog. =D>

The crown and armour you've added to the models look sick!

Thanks Guys!
@Solith: The Slann are telapathic, so I imagine they'd be intimidating on all fronts! THe Palequin was made because I'd used the one he came with as bits for other conversions. I'm please with how it's come up

@Lee & Tzineris: I chose brown because I wanted him to look like a cane toad. Bet cane toads are pests and everyone hates them... If i Had had painted him something more happy (say, green) maybe he wouldn't get picked on in-game as much!

@Nox: My theory on the poisonous colours is that no saurus/slann/skink/kroxigor are natively poisonous, and generally speaking real life animals are only brightly coloured like that if they are poisonous.

Great update mate! The only critical part is the green jungle plant. Has the model been varnished as yet as that might fix it, unsure.

On the front heavy model, have you thought about using magnets to solve this? Has solved many a frustrating standard bearers toppling over for me in the past?

I don't varnish my models at all. If the paint comes off, I touch it up! Are you referring to the obviously plasticky look about the plants? If so, it's tying into the rest of my army and all the terrain I have made/am yet to make.
Or do you mean i should matt varnich the plant?

I have considered it, however the cost of magnetic sheets and little magnets is well in excess of my current spending power, so i just deal with the frustratioins haha

The crystal really looks like a giant piece of blue-grey quartz/other rock and it stands out in a good way. I like it!

Thanks solith, I didn't want to do it hello like everyone else in the world! I'll also try and put a layer of the shiny stuff (kind of like varnish) to make it stand out even more, but I'll have to borrow it from a mate!

Cool beetle - is the red stuff...akhem...blood? :) I like the brown carapace, makes his different to most of the other dinosaurs out there :)

Putting some gloss on that crystal will make it really stand out - give it a try!

No it's not blood. Its the markings on his shell, I don't tend to paint blood on models (except the dead elf of Tyrions base)

I really like the bastilidon. Shame you didn't do the markings on each scale though, would really make it pop.

I feel that if I did it on all the scales it would end up looking like too much going on
