Ok, here is the finished model. I apologise for the sideways photos, I don't have facility to spin them around at the moment.

You've done a good job here with the conversion, I especially like how the halberd turned out. Whats next on the project list?

Thanks Gizmos!
Right now, I'm painting Great Eagles but when I get bored of that, I'm going to get back into my archmage I think. Otherwise I'm not really sure...
EDIT:
Another thought, I could make a decent Eltharion/Stormwing model.. Not that I'd ever use it on the field, but I hate the GW one..

Impressive! I especially like the golden flames on his cloak. It sets him above the typical Phoenix Guard with their fire coloured flames. :D

Thanks Solith! I've actually done a few touchups since these photos were taken, i've run a dark brown as an outline - it really makes the flames stand out :)

Interesting conversion for PG! I dont know if i understand it right but did you drybrushed your metallics? Because they have that dirty look, if you did so, i sugest to wash them a couple of times and highlight them again with silver Also the white on the cloak looks thick, i sugest to dilute your paints more and aply repeated layers to build up your color especially white!Last if i see corect, at the left side of the model the inseem of the cloak is blue but under his legs is red? :?: :? Hope to be helpfull!

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated!
Firstly, I didn't drybrush, but I will take to the brush again and try and get those highlights thinner!
Unfortunately I didn't have much of a choice with the cloak as it was one of my old models that was already painted. I did as best I could with what I had!
Lastly, this particular model has a tunic on underneath the cloak. So there are two; the red one and the cloak which is blue on the inside :)

Many thanks for your suggestions, I'll try and tidy up the silver highlights and post up another pic soon!

At your service anytime!! :D !I had the same problem with you without drybrushing anything and i ve found out that this came from priming my models and let them dry outside so they were full of dust! :shock:no more smooth surface! So from then i ve primed my models outside but let them dry inside! :)
Another info, if you want to strip paint from an old model you can sink it in detol liquid(the orange one) for 24-48 hours and then scrub the paint off with an old toothbrush! Remember always to wear gloves and do not wash the model with water until the paint is fully removed! If your model is completely metalic, then sink it in Aceton! I ve tested everything i am telling you, so not to worry! Detol does not harm plastic models!!

What you think for the eltharion? Use the IoB as a base or the current model, or something completely different?

I WAS going to do that... But a friend of mine convinced me that the Empire Deathclaw model would be a much better and realistic choice. He's right, but it's an expensive choice so I'll be sitting on that for a little while haha
I've started to get a hankering for some Lizardmen work, and I was part-way through making Lord Mazdamundi (slann on a stegadon) but with the new book he increased in points by about 100pts, so I've thrown the towel in for that as well!

I think I'll do a bit more on the Archmage and I might make a Saurus Leader with a Piranha Blade. I think those are my next projects! :D

Very very nice conversions there. The shield of your king represents the one of aenarion in the black library book? very nice use of tyrion to transform him into a foot model.

I was going to comment about your dillution (or lack of) of paints but i see tzineris already did it. So.. next step is in your hands sir!

Thank you for the comments!
Yes, that is where my initial idea came from in the beginning. I really liked the idea of a more silvery suit of armour, as opposed to the overly colourful one that the 'eavy metal team has done for the 'official' Tyrion colour scheme.

Yeah, unfortunately there is nothing I can do about it now.. and thankfully it looks worse under the lighting (in the picture) than it does in person!

Just getting the pose right...

Next step is to paint him and begin working on the base. It's worth noting that I will not be using the base that came with the model.....

@ Tzineris: Yeah, they're pretty good in combat. S/T5 and come stock with a 4+ scaly skin, it's easy to beef up that armour with little cost.

Got my hands on some extruded foam, so the base won't be far off!!

Great job on the model! Looks suitable frightening - wouldn't want to get hit by that mace of his... How does he fit in with the rest of the unit on that big base?

That is one deadly looking weapon!

I like the Old Blood. It's a good colour scheme and I think it really suits the model. I would however suggest adding highlights (in Mithril Silver perhaps?) to the gold. I think that bit extra will make the model stand out more - as characters should! If this makes the gold too shiny/bright for you, a glaze of brown/black/purple should bring it back to the overall brightness it has atm.

Thanks, I'll do that and see how we go. I'm also going to highlight the scales with some flecks of white to give it some more depth

While I'm in the process of painting some saurus, I've started working on some temple-themed bases. What do you think?

Very nice bases! They will show the models up! I like them a lot! If i were you i would go for ivory because it is warmer and would make a better contrast with the saurus blue imo, but that is just my preference! We are waiting for more!!

Oriiginally I was going to go a more yellow/beige colour but 1. somehow I couldn't get the colour and 2. thinking logically, a temple in the middle of heavy jungle would get pretty badly weathered and most likely lose alot of its pigment.

Those are my excuses anyway :P

Great conversion and what is more important to me, much better painting! You made a huge progress comparing that old-one to your annoited.

Thanks Galharen! Admittedly, I don't think my painting skills have improved at all. I think it's more to do with the fact this model was clean to start with! But I'll take the compliment happily!!

I'll be posting up pics of the completed model in a couple of days, with extra highlights as promised.

Sorry about the delay folks!
I've got a pic here, not of the Oldblood individually, but him in a partially completed unit of Temple Guard with a Slann on a converted palequin, temple-stlyled bases and unit fillers.

The Oldblood is finished, so I'll get pics up soon!
