Thank you very much for your kind words!
As with everything in like, there is always room for improvement! The beauty is that the goal continues to rise and the pursuit is always great fun!

Ok, so I've compiled a few pictures of the (combination of 2 tournament armies) i prepared last month.
Note that some of the models were already mostly done.

Looks cool Brad, you're going to need some skirmish trays hey.

Good point, but I don't have plasticard enough for the job. I have plenty of foam to make the inserts, but either way I need to buy more stuff... Which i will do soon!

If you don't mind going a bit sturdier and have a saw lying around, you could see if there is a DYI store around which cuts wood to size for customers. Ask them if you can have some of the MDF / hardboard cut-offs. They trow them away anyway and will often let you have them for free/cheap. That's at least how I managed to get more basing material for terrain projects etc then I could possibly use in the next few years.

Thanks tinman, that means heaps coming from you
I blended the gold armour into silver as I wanted a really old, but still taken care of look.
Any suggestions on little tweaks I can do before calling it complete? (i was thinking about some blood for the blood god on the weapon, but I'm worried he'd then look out of place next to his subordinates... Thoughts?)

Not sure what your plan is, but I would just extend your gold on both ends of his weapon. Your gold really looks good. Very old but clean. I'd continue that not just on the spikey parts but on the main parts too.. see pic..
Now as for blood... You just need to be careful seeing blood splatters every where, but it can be a cool effect. I'm not sure that you have to worry too much about the other models in the unit, he could have sacrificed something before battle and then joined the unit so it won't be on the other models... Suspension of disbelief and such.. Do you have or can you get at a local hobby store any Tamiya Paints? You need the clear red (X-27) mixed with black acrylic paint (see my plog) you don't need the glue.. Not sure what else to say or add, but I hope that helps..

As long as you don't overdo the blood, I think it will look fine.

Thanks for the reply
I'm not entirely sure what you mean. The double-handed mace (star-stone mace) is suppose to have been made from stone "not of this world", ie: something the Old Ones had brought from another one of their planets, I presume.
I could perhaps make the ball that the spikes are currently sitting in gold, but I feel that there needs to be some "star-stone" there somewhere.

Thanks tinman I'll have a think on the blood splatters. A strength 7 club would most certainly spill plenty of blood!
Thanks also to shalafi. Will be having a think about it all
Cheers everyone

Ah sorry. I don't know the fluff... Keep it as it is. perhaps a wash of black/blue to add some more shadows..
I love the idea, allthough I'd recommend to trim down that beak a bit... The upper part and the area around the nostrils seem too big for the rest imo.
Actually, i wanted the beak to be long and pointy, but but what i might do is fix up the part where the nostril is - bring it down a tad to make it look right.
Thanks
EDIT:
Another option a buddy has given me is that I could just use the flamespyre head... which i'm seriously considering

Brad

Well, there's no better way to make your figures unique and stand out as to sculpt or convert their heads! You're on the right path! Just stay closer to references, google some images of phoenixes or birds you want your phoenix to resemble / look alike, and try to rebuild that image.
For a quick reference (though not an optimal one):
