Okay. Take a look at that plastic rod.
Its tapered.

What I suggest is clipping the insert-tip, which is a smaller pin at the tip of that rod, and drilling the phoenix model with a larger drill bit size so that you can slide the phoenix on that tapered rod instead.

This means you do not have to glue it permanently to the rod which in turn makes 2 things easier:

1. Carrying
2. If the model falls off a table to its inevitable shattering of the tiny plastic rod - well at least it wasn't glued to the birdie!

If anyone else has a better idea - magnets is always good btw - throw them up here!
I've not the model myself but that was just a first look observation.

After my experience with the Dark Elf Hydra, GW making a model that doesn't actually stand up shouldn't have surprised me.

I'm just going to ignore the hole the designers have provided and just drill one at the point of balance.
