My first chalenge is to paint my unit of 29 spear elves!
I ve already deside of the color scheme as you can see below.
It's my first painting attempt so there are some mistakes that I've already notice, so if you also notice them to or more feel free to make sugestions! Many thanks!!

As you can see the metalics look kind of funny! It's because i ve used acrylic pastes and not wargaming paints! Also i did a mistake of undercoating them and leave them to dry outside, so they filled with dust :( .I didnt remove the undercoat at first because i didnt know how! Whene i found out of Detol, i've remove all the paint and undercoat of the comand group, and i've primed them with white undercoat. I'm about to repaint them using GW metalics and i hope they look better!!
cheers

And here is the comand group!

Also i did some work with the banner(not finished yet)

Oh, very nice with the banners. I like it! Good call on the metal too, I was just thinking, "huh, I feel like high elves should be shinier than that, but..." when I read you're comment about the paint. I betcha a light drybrush over those scales would be easy and would sparkle them right up!

Thank you all for the nice coments! :D
Revelen: Yes, of course you re right! They have to look shinier, the metal you see its only the base coat! :) I will highlight them with shiny silver!!

Thank you! The initial idea was to go for a general Saphery color theme yes, but later i ve desided to make a Saphery core army (spears, archers, silver helms) and the rest from a variety of provinces color themes according to which they initialy come from, (tiranoc chariots from Tiranoc, White lions from Chrace)! Like that this will be the Ulthuan undivided phoenix kings force! :P

Plus side, if you grab Dragon Princes, all you have to do is put them in the same colours as the Dragon(s) you put in the army. Caledor doesn't have province colours as such, they have house colours that are linked to the colour of the Dragons allied with their house.

@fooboo2: For the spears i ve used a brown basecoat color (any brownish color will do mine is van dyke brown as i also use paste acrylic color which i water down) and above that i ve aplyed a desert sand chaki which i made up my self from brown adding yellow and white to the result you see. But you can also find it ready in a modeling paint serie but i dont know by which name or code! I intend to highligth them with a lighter version of the color adding half purewhite(valejo has a very nice white the ''ivory'' and finally a very thin pure white for top highlight!

@Alaric Ironaxe: Hello, it's the enchanted blue from the old citadel series!

I like your basing. It's simple but effective and works well with your colour scheme.

About your unit fillers; they're cool and very High Elf-y but I think that they make the units a bit too empty. Some of the fillers have fairly large, open spaces on their base and I think the units would look a lot better if you added Spearmen to those spaces. I think unit fillers are great but I also think you have to be careful - if your unit is supposed to be 30 Spearmen it should look like a full unit of Spearmen and not 15 Spearmen walking around a rock. Adding some models to the unit fillers (they don't have to be as densely packed in as the regular models mind you) would go a long way to helping this imo.

I do really like your Korhil model. He's really putting a lot into that swing. :D Also, the mounted White Lion is just epic! Can we get pictures of just him please?

Great models.

How do you do your bases?

I think the small "thing" at the base of Korhil's axe (the one at his waist) looks large and out of place. Also there are a bunch of places deserving of green stuff or putty, but you probably already know this.

@lordoftheshadows:

Yes it does look kind of big.. I ve allready redused its size it looks like it needs more! I ll see what i can do about that! :D
Also i will greenstuff him a bit...

the bases are made of random sized hand cut slises of thin cork plates(i dont know if im saying this right) prime them with black, basecoat them with dark grey, first drybrush with medium grey and final drybrush with light grey! It is really easy! Carefull with the brush thow not to harm the cork! :)

Thanks for the pictures of the lion rider, he's badass!

(The name is 'cork tile' if it's the one that you cover the floor with. You can also get 'cork mat' which is the one you put on the table, and 'cork board' which is the one on the wall you can stick pictures etc onto. They're all basically the same stuff, and it is indeed awesome for making rocks)

The legs for the lion rider where are they from? I have been looking and looking and to me it seems like the dragon wing on the knee pads has 4 "ridges". I can only find High ELf Legs with 3.
Very majestic unitfiller btw

Hmm I just had a look at the dragon sprue. Can only see 2 sets of legs – one for the mage and one for the prince – both with the insanely long skirts. Did you cut those off or is there a 3rd set of legs I have missed? Thanks

The PG unit filler with only the pillar on it looks a bit cheap. The surrounding models no longer look like a regiment. Maybe you should add like 2-3 phoenixguard models on the filler to fix this? The basing is really cool by the way, with the tiles!

Thank you! I see your point! I might make it a bit smaller and add 3 more models in that unit, i have not desided yet  Right now i lack the models so it will stay as it is for the time being!! I am prepairing my sword masters unit this week! Photos of them and the archers are upcoming soon!
