Asarion's HE B/C/Paint Log. [Secret Santa 30/12/13]

Well, since I've been getting back into Warhammer, I thought I might make a building log (so it comes back to blog, madness) especially since my painting is definitely average. Plus I don't have a good camera (I use my Galaxy's camera phone, the flash washes colours out) so a record of units built, converted and kitbashed was what I am more about.

First up, I thought I might put some of my Dragon Guard up. (Using White lion rules)

That gem has since been removed, it didn't really work.

Can't wait to see more bro. I noticed you had a couple of glaze paints there, I haven't used any of the glazes yet, I look forward to seeing how they turn out once done.

Hey I just noticed but it looks like you left some of the sprew tags on the models maybe it's just something in the Background or my eyes but I'd suggest going over those spots with a knife and may e a file.

Yeah, there are a few sprue tags left in the photos, I usually assemble with untrimmed bits and then do a clean-up prior to basecoating.

Well, it's been a while since I'm currently studying Engineering and anyone who has done an Engineering degree can tell you that you only get time off during your holidays.

Anyway, weekend break at the start of a holiday period, something something dark side.

Caledor,

Look what has wandered down from the mountains.

And someone to carry a standard or two...

He's gotten a head since then, but you get the idea

Yeah, GE replacement.

Cold one + Scourge wings. I'm currently shaping the White Lion Shoulder pad as a bit more High Elven armour

I'm liking the cold one conversion to a drake! I may have to give that a try. Can't wait to see it painted.

So, exams are done for the year. So I now have time to work on my army a little more.

A companion to my other Drake was built today. (Plus a fair few archers got constructed, but no major conversions)

Plus a little something something in the background.

Those baby dragons look awesome!

I'm painting up my terradons with the same idea, should have 4 of the beauties to show soon (the models themselves are done now but only 2 out of the 4 bases doh! #-o) I love seeing a really good Caledor army come together... Dark elf shields are great for this btw!

Thanks. I'm actually planning on using normal HE shields, but with the Dragon emboss from the DE shields. My GF has a DE army and I've persuaded her that she doesn't need them (of course, she can actually do amazing free-hand on shields, so it's no big loss on her behalf).

And now, finished. Without stupidly over-exposed flash.

Of course, it was cloudy today and the light wasn't that great, but good enough.

Unfortunately you can't see the metallic glitter of the scales in the picture. It's a shame, but I'm actually really happy with it.

Especially since it was practice for my Forgeworld Carmine Dragon. That is going to be my army centerpiece.

Well, took my army into my relatively local bunker store. Sydney city:

They took a pic of them together, including the red one that I finished this morning before I went in for the game: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid= ... =1&theater

They were part of my 2500 point Cav Prince list (I'm not going to start running a Dragon list until I get my FW dragon completed.

Game was over very quickly. Flawless victory to Caledor against our twisted Asrai brethren. He conceded at the end of turn 2. (At this point, he only had his Waywatchers (5 of), and one of his Glade Guard units not in close combat. While I'd wiped his Dryads, Glade Riders, Wild Riders and half his Eternal guard. The Eternal guard were in combat with my Prince bus, my still 29 strong (the sentinel had absorbed the branchwraiths challenge, it had annoyance of nettles which I didn't want my Prince or BSB to be clogged up with) spearman unit. While the remaining six White Lions had gotten into combat with the 5 War Dancers on their overrun. No damage to prince, bsb or helms. DP's were folding up the right flank and the Swordmasters were sweeping around the left flank to wipe it down, they hadn't gotten into combat yet unfortunately.

Nice work, Asarion, sounds like your opponent took a pretty soft list.

It probably was, I'm not familiar enough with WE to tell (it's the first time I've actually played against them, no one else takes them for some reason). But it was fun for me. And I got to play with new miniatures, which is a plus.

Oh yea, it's all about fun, two turns isn't much of a game but it sounds like you still did a lot.
I need to check the GW facebook pages more often, it's not often that something Elven gets on there.

So, I've been a little burnt out on HE the past couple of days, so I've been helping my GF with conversions for her DE army again. A progress shot, but you might be starting to see something rather epic.

Was contemplating cutting the right leg up to have him walking down the stairs, but effort vs reward, plus an unsure final solution.

And I finished painting the other Drake:

Well, I haven't been doing much warhammer for the past month and a half, I've been deployed with the Australian Navy, and have spent my time reading WHF novels. For inspiration.

But since I've been back, I'm moving house this week, so all my army is packed up. However, my girlfriend has been needing something different from endless rank and file (tedious) and yet wants something to keep keen on DE.

So, as practice for my own, more graceful and more solidly built buildings. I give you what I've started putting together this afternoon.

Also, planning on building a manor using Gray's blueprints, once I've gotten a bit more practice with my terrain building. With a slight modification for making it able to interface with removable walkways to towers.
