Yes, that would solve a lot of questions, given the family ties to old Nagarythe my Prince has. Perhaps Caledor doesn't have monopoly on dragons.Elithmar of Lothern wrote:Ooo nice cool scheme. I imagine he's from the North of Ulthuan, from some snowly mountain.

I had to go all the way to Khemri to get this one for my friend who plays Tomb Kings. He then gifted me with the Dark Elf army I mentioned earlier in this thread. It was our birthday present, yessss, gollum!

I do like the muted colour scheme, and that envenomed sting is amazing! Perfect blending.

Ah, sorry, I couldn't make out the colours from the picture. I must apologise, but I thought it had just been undercoated white! Very nice effect.

Some very nice models here. Great freehand work and the gem on the tail of the Sphinx looks real. Nice work!! Man, you can sure "pump" them paint jobs out.

I was going to ask that tinman, how long does it generally take you to paint a unit Aicanor?
I love the sphinx, great job, the barbed tail in particular is flawless.

I am cheating. What you can see in this thread is a year-and-half worth of work in more or less chronological order (I started with IoB). It takes me only the time needed to make pics and upoad them here. In that year and half I was browsing this forum quite often, looking for tips and inspiration. There is some great stuff here, including yours! I must say I was somewhat shy to post my own work.Jimmy wrote:I was going to ask that tinman, how long does it generally take you to paint a unit Aicanor?
Units take me forever to paint, still need at least ten more spears, and from the elites I have only those five done (WL will hopefully get some reinforcements soon). I think I spend about four or five hours on one model (two on spears). I do not really count the time though when painting. It seems it became a kind of meditation for me.
Now I am coming up to date, so the progress will slow down significantly. I have four more models painted, three of them are not Elven (Rat Ogre, Nurgle Lord and Caldor Draigo), the fourth is painted by my husband in exchange for the Ogre. I can post them here if you are interested.
Perhaps it is time to introduce my current project: Lady Aicanor Nenuvar of Saphery. It is my first attempt at major conversion, so your tips and comments are very welcome!

Re: Rainbow Warriors - Pegasus Princess WIP 02/03/12
Oh, thanks! I wanted to do a Saphery-themed model (not just mages). I am pretty happy with the dynamics and overall look of her, but I am not yet sure about details and greenstuff work, mostly the mail skirt. She will get a cloak, so I guess part of that will not be visible. But I do not know how it will turn out when painted.Caradryal wrote: wow! i love her!

Do you want to see the first miniature I ever painted? I just got it back from a friend. It was years ago, don't know which edition it was (it was for a RPG, not WH). After this, I never touched any other model with paintbrush until Island of Blood.Elithmar of Lothern wrote:That's not fair.

Love all the great work! It's better than what I could do in 1,000 years.
I'm skeptical of the alabaster arms on your Construct, however. Do you think you should add at least a few details of color to break the sea of off-white? Perhaps on the edges or something. Or maybe a sprinkling of dust/sand!
Alternatively, you could add some of that same Alabaster (which is a nice coloring!) elsewhere on the model, or on the base or something to complement his weaponry. It just looks out of place (and therefore unfinished to me) since there's no other white anywhere on the model. My two bits.

I don't own the model any more. I tried to add some colour to the arms but in the end I settled for strong shading to break it up and bring out the details. As I look at the photos now I think that lighter base would certainly help. I will keep it in mind next time I do something similar. Thanks!

Only the softest clinging of metal announced the Caranor's arrival. Prince Alcaran Nenuvar turned from the blue depths of sea towards the Dragon Prince. He wondered if he will ever see Caranor without all those pointy pieces of gold washed metal Caledorians seemed to be so fond of.
Caranor smiled as if he could read his thoughts.
"I heard you are setting out for the Old World, Lord Alcaran."
"I am." said the Lord. "Isha's Grace is ready to sail."
"Then I am going with you."
Caranor, the "Knight Errant" of Caledor, my Mage Knight (High lore, but I am considering Wyssan's - I am generally unable to roll fives for the ward save). He is a nice guy - for a Caledorian. He excels at everything that is brave and sometimes foolish.
My husband took time off from his Skaven army and painted him for me in exchange for a Rat Ogre.

I just managed to get some White Lion reinforcements. Six to be precise, led by Korhil himself. I have ten more waiting to be painted. But they are so detailed it takes forever to paint them. At this pace, I could have them done by Christmas.

Very light lions. Well, they are WHITE lions.
I don't like the Korhil model (your painting is great, I just don't like the model). Too static.

Yes, they are the whitest models I have. Don't know why I had to paint the trims yellow instead of blue.
Yes, the Korhil model is very static and I do not know why he has that (throwing?) axe. And he is shorter than new WL. But I like his hair (please do not laugh ).

It's a fluff / rules thing. His weapon is a paired weapon, which gives him an extra attack.Aicanor wrote:Yes, the Korhil model is very static and I do not know why he has that (throwing?) axe.
It's probably one there because it looks strong and impressive...

Re: Rainbow Warriors - White Lion reinforcements
Slowly and painfully. My method: paint black, then white, trying to leave black line around (trying! ). Then I make a vertical line in hawk turquoise (dots make the elf look like s/he is very surprised or afraid). If possible (on models without helmets) I paint a finer line in he middle of the blue one). Usually I then do two white dots at the sides because I am not precise enough. Then try to fix the blue, the black, the white, the blue......Elithmar of Lothern wrote:BTW, how do you do eyes? Korhil's look like just white with a black dot?

Yeah, I used to use the black on white dot but it does look bad, I was just wondering how you did it because it looks good. Sounds like it takes a fair amount of time though! Everything good does...

Key is to do vertical lines, not dots.
