Thanks! Yes, these two are from Gamezone. They required some greenstuffing (not to mention I managed to stab myself with a toothpick while trying to glue them together), but overall I was happy with them. They look so much better than the GW chickens.

I sat over the newly assembled and undercoated Empire war altar with no idea how to start painting it when this individual happened to be nearby, he was already painted with what could be called basecoat. I took a brush idly and ended up with this. Will have to have a better look at him in the morning...

Ahh lokhir. Excellent character, looking forward to seeing how you finish him.

Still not a brush stroke on the war altar, but here is the Dark Elf update:

That's very good for just 'taking a brush idly'!

Excellent! The cloak is great, and I mean the fabric and the scales. I like the sort of tint to the armour. Very nice, aggressive red too.

Bravo! :D

So you have Druchii lurking in your cupboard?
Funny thing is I didn't really want to paint him. But it is one of the best DE command models. I just couldn't make myself start on my May pledge. The war altar is a fine model, but so unelegant.

Thanks! To be honest it only started like this, I put much more effort into it today.

Your army must be pretty large by now, how many points do you have painted?

He could only be made better looking with a Yvressi spear sticking out of him. I like the cloak, the green kind of makes it shimmer. I'm thinking of using cloaks like that for the Phoenix Guard I'm going to make.

Lot of points, but it is because I get distracted and painted more command models already than I will ever need. I need to paint more swordmasters, white lions, dragon princes and seaguard (or spears) to field to fully painted army at 2500 pts.

He might end up just like that. I am actually quite impressed by my two Druchii Lords, they stand alone on a shelf crowded with HE without batting an eyelid.
Yes, Corsair cloaks will be great for your Storm Guard.

He looks almost as great as me. ;)

Good luck with the altar; try not to puke, but it's hard with horrible human contraptions like that.

There must be worse things to paint than Sigmarite zealots.

Another grim character, they do not all come from Yvresse it seems:

Volkmar the Grim (WIP)

I painted his face and basecoated the rest. I think about giving him white cloak over black robes.

The facial expression is more slack jawed than grim, he is only human though =P

Compared to an Yvressi, he will always be amateur when it comes to grimness. Compared to any Elf likely.
I will see if I can make him more fearsome looking. Now I am too grim myself, RL forced me to put down the brush for a few days (and I am an addict, really).

Thank you very much! I am quite happy with it - it is Shadow Grey, Space Wolves Grey and good old Skull White. They seem to blend together better than ordinary greys. And yes, I know you didn't mean the red eyes comment, but I did it anyway.
For some reason I was not entirely convinced the model was good enough. I painted it some more hours to find there is no chance he could ever feel right. Elves do not have moustaches :D.

There is one with a beard in Silmarillion. One with moustache and several with a stubble can be found in Darkblade Chronicles. But those are Dark Elves... Are there more?

Once you get it base coated it should be more fun, all those details to play with, have fun!

I just finished the highlighting of the blue on my Iron Wolves, it was much more fun than the base coat.

Aicanor, are those the new fangled tufts of grass on Lokhir's base? Are they better than static grass?

I finally got to play with the new metallics. There will be an update soon.

They are Army Painter tufts. They have their uses and I like them a lot, but I combine them with Gale Force Jungle Basing kit. I do not like the *nothing *nothing *tuft *nothing *nothing *nothing *reed *nothing... (you get the idea) style, it doesn't look natural. I also use scissors and paints on the tufts to make them fit, easy to do. They also look better on larger bases than on our r&f imo.
