My first 500 points painted

I've finished painting my first 500 points of High Elves and would very much welcome comments and critique.

All the models bar the Mage came from Island of Blood.

Which brings me on to la pièce de résistance, my rare & exotic Lustrian Griffon (Counts as Great Eagle). She's very much intended to be the centerpiece of the army, and, though I might've hoped for me, I am satisfied with how she turned out, and I learned some things from sculpting and painting her, which is the main thing.

Here is the army as a whole. I'll be putting it into action for the first time this time next week. Wish me luck.

I like that eagle! Once you pick up some highlighting techniques come back and do its feathers, and you'll have a sweet model.

The Griffon is actually highlighted and washed (Er, actually washed and highlighted), but it's not come out very well in the pictures. I took a lot and those were the best.

It is a fairly subtle set of shadow and highlight, but more noticable than in the pictures. I was really leery of of things, so I probably erred to far on the side of caution.

That's kind of you to say.

Someone suggested taking photos under natural light (I used flourescent), without flash to help the colours show more accurately. Does anyone have any experience with that?

HI, through my paintings i came to notice that on certain stuff is much better to simply use very strong contrasts, for example on feathers it is much better to paint base colour---->wash----> strong contrast. For example if you painted orange and washed red, then you could use an ''almost'' solar yellow for the lights.

In the yellow feathers you should light with white and in the blue feathers with iceblue, for example. It is just thin lines that you have to apply.

If a parrot was what you were going for, well done! :)

It def's looks better then my first 500 pts. If there is only one comment i could make against it at this stage, would be the white of the swordmasters banner. White is a pain to use, and if you are using the foundation one (which i suspect you are), it really is thick, and needs to be thined out alot- or maybe its just the pictures. Other then that, good work.
