In the Mists and Shadows of Yvresse.

First time getting into Warhammer, I wanted to go Woodelves but a mate convinced me to go High Elves and we bought an IoB box each, I gave him my skaven for his elves without the griffon prince or mage, and because I'm nub he's painting it all for me, for a price of course. I've left it all up to him, so he's chosen the colours and crap, he went with a darker theme, lots of blue and grey. After all the reading I've done on here I've concluded that the army must come from Yvresse, the units seem to fit okay in this area and the colours can be explained as well. Along with the IoB units I got a box of spearelves and a couple of RBTs just to fill out the numbers. The Spears have been turned into more Seaguard. I thin I have enough Core for a 2k army which is okay for now, I'm going to expand into 3k once all these models are finished, I'm still waiting for the Seaguard, mage, and RBTs to be painted yet. I want to get some Silver Helms when I expand, this is why I've gone witha Search and Rescue story, basically some young nobles have gone missing hunting in the Old World and this force has been gathered to find them/save them. Means the 2k force makes sense and when they find the young nobles, hello Silver Helms. I think it works okay. I'm not much of a creative writer so it'll probably stay a skeleton of a story ^_^'
I'll post some pics of the units that I've gotten so far, my mate said he set himself a deadline of the end of the month to get all the 2k point army done -one of the RBTs which hasn't arrived yet. So I should be good to play in a matter of like two weeks. Hhmm... because I fail at photos I may have to settle for pics taken with the mobile phone... might be easier to just put links to the facebook pics until I get good ones sorry.

Reavers
Griffon Prince
Prince and Reavers
Prince, Reavers, and Swordmasters 1
Prince, Reavers, and Swordmasters 2

I need to get some shots of the Swordmasters, I might give the entire army back to the painter so he can take some better photos of them all ^_^'

Ah I cheated, paid a semi-pro mate, not bad rates I only paid for playing quality paint, I could have gotten display quality but this will be good enough for my first army. He's going to teach me to paint my wood elves when i get them.

I do like how he did the griffon, most of the time I see great eagles and griffons done out to be like American eagles, I'm Australian and I represent, this one it more like our Wedge-tailed eagle. Also went with the more traditional Lion backend, I thought it just looked silly with spots...

I KNOW, TELL ME ABOUT IT,... gets on my nerves a little, our eagles are so much cooler, and sexier.
Lion works better, esp if your planing on getting any White Lions, and/or a Lion Chariot,

Lions in Yveresse? I doubt it, plus I hate the white lion models, something about them just looks off.

HaHaHa I got told the deadline he made for my army was the end of the month, I bet he forgot it was a short month, I doubt he'll get all my Seaguard as well as the mage and RBT done this weekend ^_^'

Had a chat with him, it will be done, I even got his IoB mage too, he's going to do a minor mod to it so it's not exactly the same as mine, not bad!

Ah, I do like thy Griffin well 'tis beautiful indeed. I do agree with thee regarding the colours which thou hath chosen for thy Griffin. A fine model is much enhanced and is kindly to the eye for these more natural seeming tones.

I would name the armour 'dark iron' in its colour and not black. Some would say this is an unusual choice for High Elves, but it doth look well upon the models.

ye fair lady thou doth speak true, 'tis a grey of somewhat darker aspect than normally found on the 'Glittering hosts of Ulthuan'. Me thinks it most fitting for warriors of a kingdom of mists and shadows like beautiful Yveresse. His lordship the Prince is wearing armour of somewhat brighter tones, of course his home in the capital is one of the most brilliant mansions in the quiet city, his shining armour is but a reflection of this.

Ye gads I fell into that too easy ^_^'

The Griffon is clearly the centre piece of the army, and being Australian I had to represent. I like the colours a lot, I might have to get a couple of Great Eagles for the army and have them coloured likewise or if I expand even more than 3000 points get a couple of nobles on Great Eagles, maybe a mage and a BSB... Wow that would look awesome.

Oh my dear Lady Tiralya thou didst do that so well. It is the greatest fun and it doth do no harm to role play but a little. However one must take care or else thou might find thyself speaking to thy friends and family in such a fashion whilst they do stare at thee as if thy wits are addled.

Alas again am I considered a fair maid, blame belongs to the likeness I doth use correct, or is my name so feminine? For such a strong meaning name it does smack of femininity...

Oh my Lord I do apologise; as a name Tiralya doth have a feminine sound to it and this in company with thy pretty avatar didst cause me to be led astray.

Upon a recent session of the role playing escapades, aye doth donned the visage of a lord of Indian decent, and spake as such. A companion of mine took to thy mannerisms in speech much to the enjoyment of the group.

Me: "That was being very wrong Mr. Storyteller!"
Him: "Yeah, that was being very wrong... er..."

Good news has I, the artist, for surely he deserves such a title, has given me two worthy excuses as to why he hath not finished his work: His main source of illumination flickered out and he could not purchase a new one due to his 'saving the world'. I informed him that the need to hurry was not great as he still has another whole week until his deadline runs its course. The chance is small but I may have the troops I need by the end of the week to begin the search for the young noble elves who are missing. This is good news as their fathers are sorely worried about them.

after being shown the light by Asurion Whitestar, about Tiralya being my griffons name, I went through my random writings and found the Elvish name translating I did for my family, so now I have some names to spread through out the army yahoo! No word on any progress made on my army yet, but he does have a full time job. I have ordered a heap of Silverhelms, as well as a BSB on foot and a mage of horseback as well.

I love the grifon, she looks great. I personally do feel your price could use a bit more contrast from the grifon model tough. At the moment he is very grey on a grey bird. If there were a few more gold or color accents I believe he would pop out more.

'Tis a most impressive model, save that with thy prince in shadow I cannot see him clearly. Perhaps thou might take up thy camera again so that we might have further photographs to 'Ooooo' and 'Ah' upon.

IRL the silver oh his armour doesn't blend into the grey of the feathers as much as it looks like in the pic, photos taken with my mobile phone so quality is pretty rubbish but this shows just how silver he is compared to the griffon. The problem with silver is it takes a fair bit of it's colour from the light source, I had the yellow of my bedroom light, the bright white of the LED flash or my LED torch, and the dim white from the halogen bulbs in the kitchen, I went with the kitchen ^_^' I might try for a better photo tomorrow when it's daylight and I might borrow a camera.

Some small details could be done, like his scabbard is black, if it were coloured it might break up the silver on that side, or maybe some detailing on his armour. this is only playing quality paint work though. If I wanted display quality I would have paid more. ^_^

His is wonderful and doth look well all in silver. Betimes simplicity in appearance doth trump a coat of many colours.

Yea the Blue and Silver work quite well together, I've been wondering how the Seaguard are going to turn out, are they going to be painted to the same theme or will they have more of a Lothern colour scheme...
