Asurion’s Cothique Guardians Historical Biography
Asurion Whitestar (Aetyslr)
Sea Lord of Cothique
(As-sor-re-in Aye-tes-ler)
Asurion Whitestar is the Sea Lord of Cothique. Formally, he is High Prince Asurion, son of Elcarion Aetyslr, Chosen of Malanhdël Gallen, Captain of the Azure Mist, Whitestar of Cothique. He was born at sea aboard his father’s Dragon Ship, the Yvie-shia, named after his mother, Princess of Avelorn and Priestess of Isha, who taught him many things about life, love and magic. Learning from his mother, Asurion is more than adept in the arts of magic, able to heal the wounded and bring back loved ones from the edge of the Aethyr, but has a natural talent for summoning beasts from the deep oceans, storms from the sky and calming mighty unruly seas. He is the wielder of the Sea Blade, Avaltyr and wears the ancestral armour of his family, Tyslraear, made from enchanted Sea Gold, it is able to channel the raw winds of Azyr into Asurion’s spells, to help him bring life and bestial strength to his allies, or stormy fury and gravely watery reaps to his enemies.
At a young age he could always be found sailing the rough seas and testing his skill as a fisherman. During a particularly fierce storm his one man vessel was capsized and he was tangled within the rigging, unable to break free and slowly sinking to his realised watery grave, he accepted that he was to die, blacking out as his last breath left him. Days later he awoke to the dawn light on the sandy beach of Quylann, covered in seaweed, ocean moss and wearing what seemed to be a coral crown about his brow, with faint memories of Mermaids and prophesised futures. He started to stumble back to his coastal home, where a Priest of Malanhdël Gallen stopped him, frantically ranting about the young noble’s future, unable to withstand more of a audial beating, Asurion passed out. Waking in his family’s manor a few hours later, with his relieved parents and the eccentric priest watching over him. It was revealed later to him that he was chosen for great things, by Malanhdël Gallen, Goddess of the Sea. Asurion often goes fishing in his latter years, but does so without a ship. He has had no trouble with storms since and some rumour that he can even breathe whilst under water.
Asurion has a soft love for humans and the Dawi, earned through mutual beneficial chance encounters against the followers of Chaos and the Druchii, which he has a strong, harsh and determined abhoration for. Some even claim his methods when dealing with his hated foes are borderline Nagarythii and even more claim that his methods far surpass them.
During his time in Nehekhara, along with marrying his late wife Sekathlia and having a daughter Kahlesia, Asurion also learnt many of the life extending and soul re-reaping incantations from the Mortuary Cult and at the end of his second century in Khemri, with the murder and retribution of his beloved Sekathlia, by her own brother and the amounting orders of his immediate return to Ulthuan, he left his daughter under the guard of her personal army and returned to Ulthuan.
Auralii Lorelys
High Loremaster
(Or-ra-lie Lor-el-es)
Hailing from Avelorn, she is naturally in tuned with the earth and all living things in ways most Asur find foreign.
Auralii is the eldest and dearest friend of Asurion and his personal and only confidant. They have been inseparable since they were young and have developed a mind-link between them that extends from their dreams to the physical realm. Auralii is an exceptionally gifted life mage and spent many of her years studying the tomes and secrets within the great library of Hoeth. She has been honoured with the title of High Loremaster of Cothique and holds great influence in the halls of the White Tower for her unwavering devotion to the arcane arts. Auralii views Asurion as her heart feels about him, softly and lovingly, with a determination
She was once favoured to be a Handmaiden of the Everqueen Alarielle, but forsook that way of life when she had a vision of Asurion one day needing her help. After then, she moved to Tor Quylann in an effort to befriend Asurion and to stay close to him for the day he needs her most.
Drahain Malever
Last Shadow Prince of House Malever
(Dra-hane Mal-lev-ar)
Drahain is the last Prince of the line of Malever, he was only in his second decade when he moved from Nagarythe and his father founded Malever Manor. He remembers watching his mother brutally attacked and slaughtered by Druchii raiders when he was young and most of his friends and family met the same ends in front of his eyes. None can match his fury and hatred for the Druchii and foolish is the being to stand in his way of his bitter revenge. He trains for hours a day, his aim is deathly accurate, and some claim that he has never missed a shot, not on purpose.
Aethelwynne Drakesong (Hillenryr)
Prince of the Army Standard
(Eth-el-win Hill-in-rye-er)
Aethelwynne is the eldest son of the arrogant Prince of Caledor, Cathelwyre Hillenryr. Although still Caledorian at heart, he is not his father’s son, being regarded as soft by other Caledorians including his father. He is far too humble for a Caledorian, which is the reason he has traversed Ulthuan for a greater purpose than pride and has come to rest in Tor Quylann. Aethelwynne taught Asurion the art of Dragon Singing and in time has become one of his greatest allies and friends, he carries the personal standard of the White Star.
Elthin Puresight (Shatherran)
Cothiquean Mage-Priest of Vaul
(El-thin Sha-th’er-ren)
Elthin, being a Priest of Vaul, ritually sacrificed his eyesight to become a true devotee of the Smith God. Although blind, his devotion to his god has given him a pure form of vision, a sense of keenness for the immediate future that involves himself, but an even keener sense for his duties as a weapon smith. He has made countless pilgrimages to Vaul’s Anvil in Caledor, traversing the most dangerous paths within the Annulii and testing both his mettle and metal, that he has forged over the centuries. He is a very gifted mage with talents of Transmutancy, Immolation and Soul Keeping.
Ylessia Wynrie
High Mage consul from Eataine
(El-ease-sia Win-re)
Ylessia is an extremely gifted diplomat, her courtly prowess is only exceeded by her ability to harness the winds of Qhaysh. She was originally sent as a consul from Finubar himself, to create better relationships with the military shipyards and to negotiate international trading laws and customs. Since her arrival in Tor Quylann, she has taken up residence near the dry dock quarter of the city and has been accepted into Asurion’s army as a valuable ally.
Arkaith Malever
Shadow Mage High Noble
(Are-kay’th Mal-lev-ar)
Arkaith is the daughter of Drahain Malever, and is fascinated with the realm of the dead, for she can see the restless spirits of the world better than any others known. This fact has led to the rumours of her studying Dark Magic, when in truth this is nothing but lies, she still finds it difficult to interact with others outside the house of Malever. Most feel unnerved around her, although they are being watched by unseen, otherworldly creatures, this does not deter Asurion in the way it does others that are around her, a calming notion for Arkaith, for her connections with the living are subtly lacking at best.
Asurion’s Seaguard are divided into four companies. They are stationed amongst the Shifting Isles for most of the year. All show loyalty and bravery that would rival that of the stoic spears of Tor Yvresse. The four Seaguard companies also have allies of the sea that set them apart from each other and give them their divisional namesakes, some would even call them mascots.
The Kraken Company
Cothique Seaguard First Company
Youngling Kraken called Krakes, captured at a very young age and trained to fight for their loving masters. Krakes are incredibly deadly in combat, having ten whip-like tentacles covered in spines that secrete deathly poison. Despite their combat agility, they are unable to move as freely on land without the aid of special armour to keep them aloft and great Dwarven engineering spliced with Asur enchantments of forever cooled and flowing water.
The Leviathan Company
Cothique Seaguard Second Company
As they spend half their time at sea amongst the Shifting Isles, they have all the opportunities to obtain many of the variant creatures that mature into the colossal Leviathans. Many are known simply as Seaserpents and although they may be century young hatchlings, they are unbelievably dangerous for their size. Seaserpents can move on land as deftly as snakes and are incredibly intelligent and resilient, able to regenerate most wounds that would kill a lesser creature. Don’t think them harmless either, as they can be more than a match for a skilled warrior that is not used to fighting such a witty and deadly denizen of the deep.
The Skyllacean Company
Cothique Seaguard Third Company
The Skyllacean younglings, called Skyllacs are caught as eggs and reared to be sturdy monstrous warriors of the Shores, able to burrow into the ground with lightning speed as their size would dictate otherwise. They have immense claws that can easily cut a man in two and have long coral-like grows upon their crustaceous carapaces, that act like lightning rods in savage storms, drawing the arcing power-bolts away from the masts and crew of ships, which seem to give the Skyllacs nothing more than a joyous shudder.
The Merwyrm Company
Cothique Seaguard Forth Company
They are the defenders of Merwyrm attacks against the coastal and island towns of Cothique. From their first encounter with a deadly Pagowyrm that claimed their first Sea Master’s life, they captured the beast’s offspring, a young Merwyrm that was cowering under a fallen mill. They named her Elithmar, after their fallen leader, she has followed them everywhere since and has fought off many of her own kind that would seek harm to her new parents.
Pride of Althel Silphyn
White Lions of Cothique
The Lions of Athel Silphyn are strong and stubborn hunters, carrying the same Woodsman Axes of their Chracian cousins. Their captain though is no mere elf, but a rare breed of White Lion, with dark markings around his eyes, ears and tail. His name is Foques, he is more fierce and more tactically cunning than any Asur hunter, he was once just a hunting War Lion that they fought side by side with, but has proven himself the superior hunter and as adopted the regiment as his pride and likewise commands respect from all of his hunting family. Foques can command his pride as well as any Asur captain, his pride even say better.
The Valkyierii
Sea Dragon Princesses
Hailing from Valkyier, these noble born warrior-maidens are stunningly beautiful and stunningly deadly.
All are daughters of the line of the legendary Cothiquean Dragon Singer, Si’anelle. Led by their eldest sister Liahna and riding very rare azure Nauglir, rescued from the bitter colds of Naggaroth by the Shadow Warriors of Malever and hand reared with kindness that their kind has never known. They wear Dragon Armour forged by Elthin the blind Priest of Vaul.
The Maleveran Sea Rangers
Nagarythii Sea Rangers
The Sea Rangers of Malever have a bitter and cold history with the Druchii, as do all Nagarythii and they are always first to strike at their sundered kin when they try and attack along the north coast of Cothique. They are powerful allies of Asurion, and he judges them not of their methods of extracting information from their prisoners.
Monstrous Allies
Yviel-mithanir
(Eve-e-el mith-an-ear)
Yviel-mithanir is a Blue Fire Star Dragon awoken by Aethelwynne, she fought by his great, great grandfather during the first chaos incursion, she has not been able to be stirred from her slumber by any but those of the royal line of Hillenryr ever since those dark times.
Foques
(Fox)
Foques is an extremely rare variant of White Lion, he has grown up with Asurion as his father, he is strong, fiercely loyal, an outstandingly cunning hunter and Asurion’s best friend. Asurion sometimes seeks advice from Foques on the best way to ambush his would be prey. The two converse as deftly as Mages and Great Eagles, but Foques seems to want his ears and mane scratched more frequently than most.
Quelshian
(Key-el-shy-ann)
Sea Drake hatched and hand reared by Asurion; while defending a small fishing town just north of Valkyier from a savage attack from a wild and enraged Sciowyrm. He found a large shimmering turquoise stone, covered with seaweed and ocean moss, he took it as a gift from Malanhdël Gallen. After consulting Aethelwynne about the stone, he sang the songs of awakening every dawn and dusk for a nearly a decade until the creature within emerged. He named his newly adopted daughter Quelshian, meaning “Ocean Tear”. She has been by his side for almost five centuries.

To set the timeline: it's -1352 on the Imperial Calendar.
Also note-worthy: Asurion is only a Commodore, and is a mere 435 years old.
Commodore Asurion, on a mercantile mission to "now" Ancient Khemri, fell in love with the culture and people of Khemri who were very hospitible (and very interested in Ithilmar), and eventually with one of the High Priestesses, Sekathlia (and Princess of Khemri). Her hand was offered to the Sea Lord apon her 16th birthday, by her father King Sepherattera.
Asurion taught her personally the arts of the Asur language, Eltharin. She was a quick study (especially for a Human), but she learned quickly and soon Sekathlia had more than a basic understanding of Eltharin, and could speak almost fluently within only 8 years.
It was during this time that Asurion developed a fondness for Sekathlia, and an eventual deep love.
They were married on the morrow of the great floods first day, which was fitting as Sekathlia's name means Desert Blossom of the Great Waters.
They had a daughter soon after and named her Kahlesia, meaning the Sand of Beauty.
Kahlesia was gifted a White Lioness cub Naliah, on her 1st birthday.
.........
Skip a fair mention of History.
.........
Apon their untimely deaths, they were both mummified (Kahlesia & Naliah), as with the wishes of Asurion and his wife Sekathlia.
Naliah was entombed within a Great Ushabti made out of the purest white marble, it was made in her likeness and was placed outside the Pyramid that housed Kahlesia, as to eternally guard her.

Apon hearing of the Great Awakening, Asurion travelled back to Khemri in hope that her dearest wife and daughter were also alive (as it were), he found his wife's tomb defiled and no trace of her was found.
He sought revenge!!!, after a few weeks he found the remains of his long lost wife, took all back to the Lands of the Dead, alas the greatest Liche Priests of the land could not awaken her broken body. Just as all hope seemed lost he had news that his daughter survived, and rushed to her court.
